www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/10/14/wow-what-steve-mcclaren-said-about-newcastle-linked-ryan-manning/McClaren came to QPR as one of the most detested managers in the North East. When we appointed him, a good friend of mine (a lifelong Newcastle fan) called me (more than once) to express his dismay and to warn of all the things he would get wrong. The link above concentrates of McClaren's poor judgement regarding Ryan Manning. It made me think about the youngsters who have come through this year and how only Eze really got a chance under McClaren. Warburton has converted Manning to a left back and he has been ever present. Grant Hall could not get into McClaren's team but Warburton made him captain But the contrast of this season to last term, only emphasises how awful McClaren turned out to be. Even when he was sacked, his number two stepped in and results improved remarkably and we were guided to safety. Thank the heavens we got rid when we did........he should not manage again, but no doubt he will.

I never understood why he was recalled from Rotherham but barely saw any game time under McClaren. Yes indeed. The last thing I wanted was another managerial change so he had my support for longer than was reasonable, but he lost the plot and got so much wrong. Loaning Manning out was a wrong decision. Recalling and not playing him was a wrong decision. 11 games this season and Prem. clubs are supposedly queuing up for him. How wrong was McClaren?
