www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-ready-to-sell-luongo-as-sheffield-united-pursue-freemanI understand that we cannot stand in Freeman's way. He wants to leave and the player has all the clout. I just hope that we get a fair price for him. The news today has been pretty inconsistent. No doubt it will be undisclosed anyway. But Freeman will not be with us for the new season. Really sad to see that Luongo is also about to be sold. We are so much better when he plays. He is a really good ball winner and can spot a pass. Understand the economics, but he will be hard to replace. If we wait until January, we will get very little. One of my favorite current players - but our best 2 players are off it seems. Ingram - Hull would be a good move for him. A chance to fight for the number one position with Marshall leaving. Think there is a good keeper in Ingram - no doubt he will have a blinder when we play them! But he has to leave. Matt Smith - always gave 100% - will fit in at Millwall. Always gave us a Plan B from the bench, so something else we have lost. 4 more of our highest earners off, hope that when the cavalry gets here it will be full of adequate replacements. Was reconciled to losing Freeman, losing Luongo as well is necessary but a tad more worrying.

Agree it would be disappointing to lose both in same transfer window. I like Mass but has he really improved from the player we signed? Lots of potential but I don't recall him dominating games for full 90 minutes. Showed signs of premier league quality but too inconsistent, oddly within games rather than game to game. A loss for now but in long term will be good business if we improve squad elsewhere. I have always like Manning and now he can secure a place in his preferred position and Scowen was superb in the last few games of the season. maybe there is a player in Goss too 😀

That's a real shame about Mass, but as you say better to cash in now rather than let him go on a free

I like Mass but he cannot cement a starting place for Australia either. If he can command a decent value we should sell up. He could be replaced more cheaply.

Interesting how Dave McIntyre has established himself as the unofficial voice of QPR. Managing social media and the keyboard warriors is a huge part of the club's relationship with the support base. When in doubt, tell Dave McIntyre what you want the supporters to grasp. Many supporters still do not accept the reality of the FFP situation and still react badly against the owners, the DofF and the CEO. The usual reaction is that they are all incompetent and giving our players away for a pittance. It is often a drip, drip feed so that we all can take on board the message and the hostilities can die down by the time the unpopular decision materializes. This last 7 days has been a classic QPR PR spell. Starts with stories of Freeman off to the Blades - but I think this story leaked from Sheffield. QPR has to go into damage limitations - cue McIntyre. The Sheffield leak is 'look at the bargain we are about to bag'. Warburton goes on Sky and talks about 4 potential arrivals. He gives a throwaway line that some of course will be leaving. The warriors react badly to the Freeman valuation quoted. Via WLS sport we learn that the club has rejected offers for Smith & Freeman - the message is 'we are not just accepting any offer!' But Sky then publish that it is a £3m fee. Apparently, the deal is close. So next message is that Ingram is off to Hull (no bad reaction likely) then it is on to Luongo. Just throwing out the fact that if we do not sell him now, we will lose his valuation. No message about what that valuation is likely to be though. People like me are disappointed, but of course accept the realities of the situation and off he goes for an undisclosed fee - just like Freeman was supposed to. In the end, the club can only sell for what is offered. Even if Leeds offered more than Sheffield United, Freeman would probably turn it down as he wants to play in the Prem. So the club has to accept that we can only receive what Sheffield are prepared to play - probably £3m plus add ons if they stay up. I am sure that the owners would want to spend big if they were able to. But they have to take the medicine now for their past sins. They would struggle to sell the club and so they just have to suck it up - and so do we all. The timing of the messages is crucial to retaining support. I think we have players lined up, their signings will probbaly be timed to mitigate any outgoings.

Maybe the Freeman deal is delayed because players could go in the other direction? Leon Clarke anyone? 😁

Ingram will be reunited with goalkeeping coach Barry Richardson at Hull. He previously worked with Richardson during his time at Wycombe. Obviously, Richardson believes that Ingram is a decent keeper. QPR (McLaren) managed to mess up his career but he will prosper I am sure. I truly hope he does!

I thought it was a great signing when we got Ingram from Wycombe and was shocked when he started so poorly when he got he chance his last season. Good luck Matt, make the most of your move

Except that some of the usual suspects on twitter now believe we're selling him for £3m and are doing their annual summer hand wringing, my club is underselling another world class player routine for all the world to laugh at. We seriously have some right tools as fans.

Except that some of the usual suspects on twitter now believe we're selling him for £3m and are doing their annual summer hand wringing, my club is underselling another world class player routine for all the world to laugh at. We seriously have some right tools as fans. Looking at the Message Boards is quite depressing. There still seems to be a disconnect between acceptance of the major messages (e.g. FFP) and then how that translates to the individual decisions about players. If we accept the strategy, then we have to sell players when they still have 12 months on their contracts. It hurts, and it will be harder without those players, but it just has to be done. To not do it, threatens our very existence. The valuations are determined by market forces. One of those factors is that clubs know that we have to sell and that weakens our negotiating position. Our only hope is that we can establish a bidding war. With Luongo, the message is that there could be more than one club interested. With Freeman, there is only one Prem club likely to be interested. The club does try to use the media to generate additional interest – even when it is not real. They can do little more. But it is still fashionable to blame Ferdinand and then Hoos. The real blames rests with our owners (mainly Fernandes) and poor decision making ex-managers. For me, Hoos, Ferdinand & Warburton are our best shot at securing a long-term future, with a strategy built around young players who see the club as a stepping-stone. To do that we need to demonstrate that when players perform well, then we do not stand in their way. It seems we are about to sign Luke Amos on loan for the season from Spurs. He is just the sort of loan that we should be targeting IMHO. And yet, the comments on the message board are pretty disparaging. He is 22 and contracted at Spurs until 2021. He will have one year back at Spurs if he makes a go of his loan. He has had a bad ACL injury (last September) picked up playing for the reserves. He had previously received excellent reviews playing for Stevenage. He was on the brink of breaking into the Spurs first team squad when he was injured. But he has everything to prove and has spent the last 9 months reflecting on his career. It may work, it may not, but some of the keyboard warriors are happier to write him off and blame Ferdinand and Hoos for selling Freeman and replacing him with a crock. Some of our message boards are worse than others, but sometimes I read the social media comments and I despair. I realise that supporting QPR does not mean that you HAVE to understand the constraints, but some would rather just lash out, needing a target to blame. Yes the club made bad errors. But it is done now. Stick with the club now through the tough times, but lose the anger and spite, it only damages the fabric of the club in the end. Keep the faith!

From Australia's The World Game. That's Mass off. Pity liked him but that's where we're at unfortunately theworldgame.sbs.com.au/for-sale-luongo-might-benefit-from-move-says-ferdinandFor-sale Luongo might benefit from move, says FerdinandOn-the-market Socceroos midfielder Massimo Luongo might need a fresh challenge elsewhere to “push on”, according to Queens Park Rangers’ director of football Les Ferdinand. UPDATED 1 DAY AGO BY DAVE LEWIS Luongo, 26, is up for sale -along with the financially-challenged Championship club’s entire squad - and has attracted interest from Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. Having mentored Luongo in their time together at Tottenham, former England striker Ferdinand then oversaw his arrival at Loftus Road from Swindon. But, with a year left on his contract with the London club, Ferdinand feels Luongo might benefit from a potential move. “He’s relatively young and has the opportunity to push on,” Ferdinand told The World Game. “He has a year left with us but if he does go this (northern) summer he might be able to kick on a little bit more (elsewhere).” QPR are in a financial hole after breaching Financial Fair Play rules during their promotion season to the Premier League in 2014, and have agreed to a $76 million settlement with the English Football League. In light of their plight, another season of mediocrity in the Championship may lie ahead. “All our players are up for sale,” added Ferdinand. “There has been a bit of interest for Mass. We are a club that if the right offer comes in for one of our players - especially with the Financial Fair Play situation - we have to look at everything. “It’s not just Mass specifically - it’s all the individuals at the football club.” Ex-Newcastle and Tottenham marksman Ferdinand believes Luongo would have already departed the R’s for the Premier League had he been able to incorporate goals into his repertoire. “Mass is one of those who back in our Tottenham days I thought he was going to push on (to the very top),” he added. “For me, if he added goals to his game he would be playing in the Premier League right now. “It’s the one part of his game which he hasn’t (to this point) been able to improve on. “It’s because of that he’s probably remained in the Championship and not gone (as yet) to where he thought he might be heading.” Luongo managed just three last season from 41 appearances with four assists. His tally was six the season before. Valued at around $7 million, Luongo might choose to run down the remainder of his contract and leave as s free agent this time next year.

londonfootballnews.co.uk/qpr/sheffield-united-leeds-united-freeman-qpr-latest-010719/New Sheffield United offer for Freeman due today. I wonder if he has traveled with the squad to Austria.............and for that matter has Luongo and Matt Smith senior? There were reports that Amos and Matt Smith Junior were already training with QPR, so perhaps they have traveled to Austria as well. Usually, the club announces the squad and follow up with daily training photos from the trip. But perhaps they needed to conclude the business before setting too many hares running this time.

Stevenage get a sell on, 10% I think, so would be good to bump up the price closer to £6M. Thats what I've read although it would be unusual given he was sold to Bristol City before coming to us.

Like to know what the add ins are but 3 Million to start doesn’t sound a great deal for the club unless it gets doubled with a certain amount of appearances. I would of thought we could have got 6 million without even add ons coming into the equation. Why are we selling so early in the window, I guess desperate to get money in rather than not sell.
Just hope its much worth than 3 million otherwise again QPR have given to cheap.

As i said above, I understand how any substantial increase in the fee would be based on add-ons, but this Freeman exit is pretty weird. For some reason, Sky seen to want to reassert that the fee is £3m plus add ons. WLS seek to assure us on behalf of the club, that QPR rejected £4m We all know it will be undisclosed anyway until we receive the accounts around January / February 2021 - but by then we will be passed caring. As there are 2 clubs involved in the sell on clause (Bristol City 13.5% and Stevenage 1.5%) there has to be some transparency anyway. But it still mystifies me that some clubs are very open about their acquisitions and disposals where as others believe that it is confidential. But in the case of QPR, not disclosing fuels the belief that we are awful negotiators and giving our players away on the cheap. Cue more personal abuse of our officials. If you believe that a football club is a community project with the only long term consistency being the supporters, then you need to keep that community on side. So communicate and explain why the fee has been decided as acceptable to the club. IMHO

The Blades have agreed a reported £3million fee for Freeman, 27, who is set to become the club's first summer signing since winning promotion back to the Premier League. 'It's not completed yet, but hopefully by the close of play today, Luke Freeman will become a Sheffield United player,' Wilder said. 'The two clubs are in discussions to finalise that deal and we'll be delighted if that happens.' Wilder said he was also hopeful that goalkeeper Dean Henderson would return on loan to the club from Manchester United. 'Yes, that's on-going. Same again, discussions between both clubs, Manchester United and ourselves,' Wilder said. Freeman, who signed a new long-term deal with QPR in November last year, scored seven goals in 43 Championship appearances last season and was voted player of the year by R's fans. The Blades also confirmed later on Twitter that former Manchester United and West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison was currently training with Wilder's squad with a view to a possible move to the Premier League new boys.
Morrison, 26, is without a club after recently completing a six-month spell at Swedish side Ostersunds.

One thing on the fees bouncing about is that it goes both ways - it's on Sheff Utd to try and show off them spending wisely just as much as it is on us to show we are selling wisely. Likewise, if you are trying to drum up interest, a £3m fee is a lot more hijack-able for other clubs than £6m. Or in short, no-one has a bloody clue, least of all the papers in many circumstances.!
Agree with Ricky though, with how edgy the fanbase is, reassuring fans we are getting a good deal for when we inevitably lose our sellable assets is pretty important.
