McIntyre on Twitter isn’t saying we’ve got McKENNA but the latest offer QPR submitted , the club are confident will be accepted. Amazed if they get over the line as the boys destined for the premier league!

On the face of it the two strikers we got in on loan last season were potentially good signings (and arguably worked until Christmas) - do we know where they have ended up this season? Last I heard they are both back where they came from. In fact I think Hemed was given a one year contract extension by Brighton. Wells could do well this season in the Championship - if Huddersfield can afford his wages. I think the cost of taking either of them on loan again this season would have been too high.

Alex Smithies - remember him - gone from our no ! and one of the best in the Championship to not even making the bench for Cardiff today.
Still we made some money on him and hopefully he is still picking up PL wages.
There's a lesson in there somewhere

There's a lesson in there somewhere Warnock bought ANOTHER keeper in the summer - who was at fault for at least one of their goals. Got to feel for Smithies, but as 75 said, hopefully he's on a good whack.

The original article from the Scottish Sun www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4564356/qpr-aberdeen-scott-mckenna/QPR priced out of McKenna transfer as Warburton eyes ex-Rangers ace BatesBy Derek McGregor 4 Aug 2019, 13:28 QPR are set to ditch interest in Aberdeen star Scott McKenna after having a £3million-plus bid rejected. SunSport understands boss Mark Warburton is now considering a move for Hamburg and Scotland stopper David Bates who he took to Rangers two and a half years ago from Raith Rovers. He also has several other targets down south. Warburton – who yesterday got off to a great start as Loftus Road manager by winning the Championship opener at Stoke City – is a big fan of McKenna. But he wants to maintain momentum with his attempted transformation of QPR where he has overseen a significant squad overhaul and is now starting to look elsewhere. McKenna still has four years of his contract left and over the last year the Dons have also fended off bids from Aston Villa, Hull City, Stoke City and Celtic.

I think this rumour has far more legs than the McKenna story. Could see Leinster going in the opposite direction so that he can return home - in line with the homesick stories of last season. Bates played for Warburton at Rangers, and there are stories that he had been told he could leave Hamburg. He is 22 years old. Ticks all the boxes

SSN - MORE ON MCKENNA...
We understand Scott McKenna made his transfer request to Aberdeen on Saturday, before yesterday’s game against Hearts.
Aston Villa had a ÂŁ7m offer for McKenna rejected in the summer transfer window of 2018. Celtic also has a substantial offer rejected in January.
McKenna is contracted to Aberdeen until 2023.
Aberdeen are due to fly to Croatia on Wednesday for their Europa League qualifier first leg against Rijeka and as it stands it is unclear if McKenna will be on that flight.

Probably Forest, they seem to spend millions every season buying who they want.

Aberdeen are playing hard ball all round. They have turned down his transfer request and if they have previously turned down 7million for him we do not stand a chance. More likely a swap of Leistner for the lad in Germany maybe with a bit of cash being paid by us probably has more mileage in the story.
If it comes down to the wire and Aberdeen decide they do to want to keep an unhappy player for 4 years they may buckle but unless other clubs have already taken in CB's I think we would lose a bidding war. Only hope is the Aberdeen lad is set on getting to the bright lights of London - which if that is his motivation it puts a question mark over him anyway imo. We will soon find out.

The whole McKenna story has been out of kilter with the whole window. We scrape around for 14 players for under ÂŁ100k, then suddenly we are bidding ÂŁ3m on a player where the club has supposedly turned down ÂŁ7m in the past. Lots of noise about other interest and yet we persevere with ÂŁ3m plus add ons. Aberdeen repeatedly say no, so the player tries to force the issue. It all sounds like a big tap up. As you say, perhaps he wants to move to London and we think we can pick up a sellable asset on the cheap, but it always has seemed unlikely. But we will know for sure by Thursday evening!

I would imagine any other defender deal would depend on Leistner going?

More to the point D Mac saying it might be on a free, just offloading wages đź‘Ž Would imagine must be some sort of fee with 12 months left?

On a free seems a strange one ! .. even 500k for a current Australian international at a good age seems cheap to me.

I wonder how far we are off from breaking even on an annual basis? I am guessing a long way as match day revenues must be down based on last years attendances.

Mckenna is flying with the squad today, so looks unlikely that he will be joining QPR. Shame, but looked unlikely. The fact that he is left footed would have completed the jigsaw. Warburton has at least one often two to cover every position. But our central defenders are right footed with the exception of Barbet. If we sign David Bates instead, he is right footed, just like Leinster who I guess will depart if we sign Bates. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/scott-mckenna-board-aberdeen-flight-18855734

From WLS www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/sheffield-wednesday-make-move-for-qprs-luongoSheffield Wednesday make move for QPR’s LuongoBy David McIntyre 07/08/2019 Sheffield Wednesday have made an approach for Massimo Luongo. QPR are looking to sell the Australian midfielder, who has a year remaining on his contract. Luongo, 26, has not been involved in Rangers’ pre-season campaign and there has been every expectation that he will leave Loftus Road this month. After rumblings of interest among a number of clubs in the Championship and abroad, Wednesday have indicated that they want to do a deal ahead of Thursday’s deadline. Luongo has made 145 league appearances for QPR since being signed from Swindon Town four years ago.

From London Football News. More on the McKenna situation. londonfootballnews.co.uk/qpr/football-qpr-fulham-brentford-ghoddos-move-07081920/Striker pursued by QPR and Fulham is on his way to West London – to join BrentfordBY LONDON FOOTBALL NEWS 07/08/2019 Brentford are poised to complete the signing of Iran forward Saman Ghoddos. QPR and Fulham both pursued Ghoddos last year prior to his move from Swedish side Östersunds FK to French club Amiens, who are now set to sell him. English clubs have continued to show an interest and Ghoddos now looks set to join Brentford as a replacement for Neal Maupay, who has left for Brighton in a £20m deal. Ghoddos is expected to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Griffin Park. QPR were frustrated in their attempts to sign him but have been able to bring in strikers in this window, signing Jordan Hugill and Jan Mlakar on loan from West Ham and Brighton respectively. Their focus now is on trying to agree a deal for Aberdeen’s Scotland defender Scott McKenna. McKenna has handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move south of the border. The request has been rejected and manager Derek McInnes recently insisted that QPR needed to cough up more money in order to land him. The R’s had a £3m bid turned down and were also knocked back after submitting a revised offer.
“There was a fresh offer. I don’t know if there was a written offer from Nottingham Forest but there certainly was from QPR on Friday – but clearly it was not enough,” McInnes told the Daily Record last week.
“It was a slight increase and it was structured in a certain way but it was not enough for the club to accept.
“It’s up to the buying club to make my chairman think differently but as it stands Scott will remain with us.”
