Can't help thinking Ollie needs someone with some nouse to help him out, I don't think Bircham is that person. I'd move Birch to the reserves and try and bring McClaren back in (though rumoured to be in for the Sheffield Wednesday job) or Clement. But thats surely just creating another salary for a position thats already filled. How we can afford to do that with the constraints with FFP. We cant just keep making positions up to keep certain members of staff. I cant see Ollie agreeing to that anyway.

(For good reason) Managers don't like "Help" given to them...See Chris Ramsey who was given Warnock...!

I agree Harr, can't necessarily see Ollie agreeing to it, but I just recall how well we did with Shteev coaching while Kneecapp was manager. We kind of struggled to convince after Shteev left. Maybe Ollie would see the sense in getting some 'proper' help in. I'd keep Bircham at the club in a lesser role - he's Ollie's mate and is QPR through and through. Yes, it would be an additional salary, but nowhere near the one we've just lost of the wage bill (Caulker) - and other players are probably on their way during January.

Hopefully it won’t come to it Ashdown but do you think things are a bit stale with the two at the minute. Quite a few fans see the two of them as too similar if that’s possible? I think if you brought in another number two Ollie won’t like itone bit, can you see him working with McClaren as his number two? He would feel threatened, I like McClaren but couldn’t see it happening with Ollie but maybe wrong. Sadly the only way I see any change is they would both end up going if results didn’t improve and that’s a justified shout by the board as far as I am concerned. Ollie and Bircham have had over a year now. Some may say that’s not long at all but in terms of football Managers you expect to see improvements in terms of points gained. Maybe we are a bit of a different case because of the FFP and the current spending constraints, otherwise they may have already gone. A couple of wins and it all changes but I am worried where these two are taking us and as much as I want to avoid another yearly switch I think it may well happen but that’s just me and there are thankfully many more positive R’s fans than me at the minute that feel this poor run of results will change soon. This hope it changes tomorrow, New Year and three points.

Yes, things are looking a little 'stale' at the moment and I agree, Ollie probably wouldn't be happy - but then again he might just appreciate the input.
Just think back to his meltdown at Palace when he couldn't take the pressure any more. Maybe an experienced assistant or co-manager could have helped him at that time.
Likewise, I don't really think McClaren or Clement would take on an assistant role in the Championship - both will be after a 'top dog' role. But if we could get one of them in, maybe until the ned of the season, it would help ease the situation, get some new ideas which coaches and players would all benefit from.
