Of course in those years it was a more attacking game. I thought we were supposed to be more attacking with JFH. Maybe we need more defensiveness and attacking. Well. its only one game. Well, we are doing ok with 10 points from 7 games Harry , mind you Ramsey had 11 points last year at the same stage and we know how that went. Dont think you will see any TF tweets for a while

Just before the bridge jumpers get their pitchforks ready, I recall the season Middlesboro went up in '98 we beat them 5-0.
Sometimes results like this happen. Sadly it was us on the receiving end of it tonight.
Doesn't excuse the performance tonight, but maybe puts it into perspective a bit. Though I expect most of our fans just want Les and Jimmy gone regardless anyway.

Jimmy, didn't they have millions of pounds players when they lost to Fulham and Huddersfield. No excuse for the most embarrassing performance for decades.

Oh come on this is just taking the piss , we are finished this year , no one will be afraid to come to our fortress now Jimmy . "Fortress" was what Jimmy wanted and I guess that is what he got. I say that because of the number of shots we had at home, indicate that we must have been spending all our time fortressing our own goal. Didn't work though Jimmy, did it?

I dont think Jimmy even knows what high tempo football is, he just found a phrase and thought this sounds good. To lose 6-0 at home is an absolute disgrace of a result whatever way you try and hide it. Goes back a long way to get a result that bad at home.

Complete shite! Pathetic excuse of a football team. Pub football is of a better standard than QPR under that crap manager.
Putting balls over the 6'4" defender for our tiny centre forward was stupid.
Whole midfield over-run by one bloke called Shelvey.
Defence were bullied by a couple of forwards.
They were quicker, wanted the ball, shot on site.
We are totally crap. Totally embarrassed by that performance.
Don't blame anyone who left with 30 mins left. Shambolic.

No Luongo. Don't suppose he'd have stopped the loss, but just maybe we're unbalanced without him??!

I completely forgot about this game today. Glad I did😬
That being said, we have gotten a result in every game I watched or followed on line. So I will do my part going forward!
6 points is just a lack of pride, though. That's on the players. Not the coach.

Just excuses , fact is we're lucky to have the points we have already , only Leeds was genuine , Cardiff couldn't score in a month of Sunday's and the rest of the games we have totally deserved to lose . This result tonight is no surprise, what would be a major surprise is if we don't get spanked by the same on Saturday. Football under Jfh is dire , no heart , ability or passion , game was over after conceding the first goal . Much more of the same level of performance and commitment and I can't see how Jfh can keep his job , although I doubt if Fernandes is even interested any more .

I made sure my holiday was a day less to see this game and effectively came 4,000 miles.......straight off a plane to LR.
Newcastle were in a completely different class. We have to accept that almost by definition all their players are better than ours. Were they 6 goals better.......remember they hit the bar twice and had a goal disallowed......or even more?
They were AT LEAST 6 goals better than us in my opinion. This was no fluke result.
Everything that Newcastle did was better than anything we did. They were stronger, more tactically aware, clever when in possession and had more desire. It was men against boys.
But you do have to question the captain, the completely ineffective and nondescript Ned who not only is a liability does nothing to inspire confidence or drive other players to perform. The first casualty of this game should be the removal of his captaincy.
I do think you have to question the manager and his tactics and team selection.
Henry and Jordan are too similar and too week and seem to think that the ball always has to go backwards.
Shelvey was running midfield, the glue that pulled everything together yet at no time was he hassled or marked or kicked/fouled to know that someone was there at his back to close him down.
At half time 0-2 there should have been changes (apart from the injury inflicted ones) there was nothing. It was more of the same ineptitude and lack of basic football common sense. Lack of seeing a situation and trying to do something about it. Well it didn't work in the first half.....so let's try it again to see if it works in the second.
My concern is that JFH is not an intelligent manager, maybe that is 'yet' or maybe he has already peaked in his managerial career?
I also blame the new badge that has a '2' in the 'Q' because we were second in every single department last night.
Yep, I should have stayed on holiday for the extra day!

Like you say, could easily have been 8 or 9-0 we were that inept and that mainly is pointed at the coaches for not getting the players ready for such a big game and set up to deal with a quality team. We have some decent players but you wouldnt think so by our performances of late. Preston, Blackburn and now this shambles showing how weak we are.
Knowing QPR they will end up replacing Jimmy and then keeping him as a youth coach. #jobsforpals

Massively disappointing game, really. To me, it was four big factors.
1. Newcastle are just a much better side with better players 2. When we could see that how we were setup was not working, changes needed to be made in shape and personnel - those changes never came 3. A perpetual lack of pace 4. The goals came at times that destroyed any momentum we tried to create
Perch starting on the right seemed odd (what's the status on his injury? Looked bad). When I got in the ground, talking to my mate next to me, the only way he could figure it was that he was assigned to man-mark someone, which seemed fair enough. As the game started, you could immediately see that that person should be Shelvey. Turned out, we weren't marking anyone.
Shelvey is a superb player, let alone at Championship level, but the space we gave him was absolutely criminal. He was the root of almost everything positive Newcastle did and we let him operate in absolute isolation, free to wander around as he liked, taking time to pick his shots and passes. If there was a system in place to try and contain Newcastle, I didn't see it. After about ten minutes you could already see that Shelvey was their most dangerous, creative player but we did absolutely nothing to stop it. With the loss already in the bag, I took to focusing on him during a large chunk of the game and I swear he was in about 15 yards worth of space almost ALL of the time. Yes, he's a great player but that amount of space and respect is absurd to me - how are we not assigning a player to him, even if it's just a decision made at half-time?
On the pace thing, Newcastle pressed high and pressured us when we tried to play it out from the back. This continued until about the 75th minute or so, because worryingly, whilst most teams would sit back after 3-4 goals to conserve energy, Newcastle hadn't really needed to work hard for their goals. In that situation, you need to move the ball quickly. Some of our defenders and Henry got pelters for miss-hit passes and vague balls up to Washington (who for the 100th time, is not that kind of player) but most of the time, the midfield did not drop to give them an option. We'd move it up from the back and you'd see QPR players static against their markers - not shifting into space, not dropping back to collect, pass and move. Newcastle's chances tended to come from a turnover in possession and about 3 or 4 incisive passes, simply because they are very bloody good and because they crucially did it quickly. You cannot take two touches and then look up against teams of that quality, which is what we did time and time again. If we aren't good enough to do that yet, that's fine, but you have to notice and make changes. That didn't happen and I think that's disappointing.
There's some mitigation in the timing and nature of the earlier goals. The first goal took a horrible deflection. Second goal had a good save going straight to their player. Third goal came just when we actually started putting some positive movement together and whilst Shelvey was given too much time to pick his shot, it was a worldie and you can't really do much about that - that destroyed any momentum we had put together. Heads went down after that.
nomar has it bang on, really. These results happen - Newcastle are streets ahead of most teams in this league and we won't be the last team they hammer this season. Doesn't excuse the performance - it was poor. But it's not a result I'd start calling for peoples' heads over because the last ten years shows us that that simply does not work.

We were always certain to lose this encounter come what may. All that needs to concern us is the 6-0 score line and the shocking manner of defeat. Once the dust has settled we can then resume our quest for mid table mediocrity

They appear to be a class above. Shelvy, Ritchie, Perez, Mitrovic, these are Premier League level players being coached by a Champions League winning coach. Would love to know from someone in the stands how the fans are reacting? Fan reaction was mixed, to be honest. The fourth goal was when a lot of people got up and left, although not as many as you'd maybe think. You had some boo'ing and that was normally followed up by supportive chanting - like a to and fro between some sections being angry and letting the players have it and other sections being disappointed but supportive and knowing that getting on the players' backs was pointless. Those that stayed clapped the players off who were brave enough to come over - particularly Bidwell and Chery. One of only about 3 times i've ever kicked off with another QPR fan, unfortunately. Guy a few rows back, first time Smithies accidentally kicked a ball into touch, started screaming dogs abuse at him - telling him to f off back to Huddersfield and that he was complete sh*t etc. Starting shouting "JFH out" on his own over and over and over again after conceding the second goal. He was a nightmare. Atmosphere up until about the third goal was absolutely superb, though. Our lot are so much louder when there's a big away support to bounce songs off. Shame the result and performance was so crap, really.

Was going to post a comment but then read MarshBowles10 comment and thought he has said it all for me!!
The only thing I would add is that JFH has spoken of wanting a team full of players that were fit, hungry and full of desire that played high pressing, attacking football but none of that was true last night. We have no one in midfield who looks like they want to take on the opposition and go forward. I wouldnt single out Cousins but I thought he was a so-called box-to-box player but he seems OK going back towards his own box but frightened to death of going towards the oppositions?
Our movement is poor and our build up so sluggish its easy to see why a quality side like Newcastle will quickly find us out. I went to the Rochdale match and I watched Osman and Shodipo both trying to take on their man, I saw none of that last night and yet we were set up to hold in midfield and use our widemen (to no effect)
Sadly, much to lament and little to praise.
Upwards on Onwards.

When a quality side come to LR and press hard, you have to move the ball quickly and create space - find gaps, knock balls into the areas they vacate when closing you down. We just didn't do that at all.

Your earlier post was spot on too bowranger.
I had a horrible feeling that unless we upped our performance level significantly from the Preston and Blackburn games we were in danger of getting beat. What I and most others didn't expect was a complete tanking.
With a mixture of retaining top players Gouffran, Anita, Perez, Shelvey, Mitrovic and some very strong additions Ritchie, Diame, Hanley (all on the bench!!) and others plus as said elsewhere a Champions League Manager they look quite the part.
I don't know whether Sandro's heart is in wearing Blue and White Hoops but in a big game a fit Sandro would give us bite and forward momentum through the centre of midfield plus a dead ball threat. Can't help but think he should have been included in the squad last night. Easy to say with the benefit of hindsight though.

I naively went the other way - I knew it would be a tough game but I thought, typical QPR, we'll struggle against the poorer sides who come for a draw at LR and then somehow pull it out the bag against the better teams. Like how we beat Liverpool at home last time we were in the Prem and played great against Citeh and the scum but did poorly against most of our relegation rivals. I felt that as we didn't seem to have the quick thinking/pace to break down very defensive teams, maybe the fact that Newcastle would come right at us would give us the gaps to exploit. How wrong I was haha. It's a mad line-up of players for this division and they'll almost certainly walk it. Doesn't excuse the performance but yeah, they'll hammer other teams like us too before the season's out. I'm a broken record on Sandro on other threads so I won't go on about it here but I just don't think playing Sandro is a good idea. Agree that we certainly needed some bite and momentum in the middle though.

I Would stick with JFH for the season - short of being in a relegation struggle.
BUt with JFH we really have no idea if he's a future great manager...or just a one season wonder (with an inherited team) at Burton. WHich is what we knew (and said) at the time of his appointment

WHich is what we knew (and said) at the time of his appointment That's true, which I guess kind of fits in with how the club is right now with both players and management, really. We are taking punts on players who show potential and can be developed due to financial restrictions and restructuring. Some will work, some won't - those are the risks, but they're smaller risks than betting the farm on aging "proven" players, cos look where that got us. Same goes for the manager really, could go either way - we are taking a mitigated risk based on his playing history, attitude, ideas and relatively brief management career. Really hope it comes together for him and agree that I'd certainly say stick with him for a season to see how this team and the new signings pan out (short of a dire relegation crisis, but even then, you have to be so careful about who you bring in cos of all the baggage and disruption). Fingers crossed.

I have nothing to say on this matter, except what I said earlier. Celtic were beaten 7-0 by Barcelona, report was teams were at a much different level of competence. That is what happened here. Teams at a much different level of competence. Even tho Toon were relegated, the gulf between Prem and Championship is huge. Especially with, even just being relegated, Toon have really spent on quality and managing to go back up straightaway. One more factoid, QPR have an innate ability to break the barrier on degree of ineptitude. Like losing 6 nil at home, and going through an entire Prem season without a point at an away game. Maybe we have a record there. Maybe we did it twice. Recovering from this, is our immediate problem. Lets hope it doesn't ruin our season. I expect it won't.
