Brendan Rodgers: Liverpool boss sacked by club Liverpool have sacked manager Brendan Rodgers with immediate effect. The Reds drew with Everton on Sunday to leave them 10th in the Premier League and six points off the top spot. "Although this has been a difficult decision, we believe it provides us with the best opportunity for success on the pitch," said a club statement. "The search for a new manager is underway and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner." More to follow. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34423344Seems harsh to me but my Liverpool supporting mate has been praying for it.

Seems harsh to me as well but I'm guessing they've already got someone lined up.

No wonder he had a smile on his face at the end of the game.
That'll be another large compensation payout for failure and the management merry go round where all the characters are the same will have a little shuffle, select a new club, decimate their leaving club by taking all the backroom staff and end up somewhere else.
Kerching, that's another few houses to add to the 102 that he already owns.

No worries as Paul Mason is on the short list - time to put his money where his mouth is - assuming he can get his head between his legs. You really are a twat. What is the point of that post?

He's just having a dig at you like you have digs at others except you feel the need to be abusive. Looks like you can dish it out but can't take it.

Personally I do not think it is harsh, he has had 3 and a bit years and not won a trophy, as a manager of a club like Liverpool you have to win a trophy or it is curtains, especially when you factor in money he has spent, most of which are or were flops, big money flops as well.

I hear that they want Klopp. Klopp in front of the Kop. Would Rodgers be an improvement on Ramsey?

Who would you want to change to in 10 games time when Clippety hasn't brought us into the play-off spots, A.N. Other? Oh yes and who will pay for 4 managers a year? TF I suppose. Lessons learned? Not by many on this board IMO.

Paulmason has been goading fellow members and throwing insults at them since the day he joined with barely any censure from the Admins and then you post that towards 57? Some very good posters have left this board or barely post anymore because of Mason and you've done nothing.

Erm please stay 57, the board is better for your thoughts and involvement. Please do not let people drive you away, When I was a younger man, an ex boxer named Bobby Pounder who lived on our estate taught us to never walk away from an aggressor, if you do the aggressor has won and you end up regretting you walked away from a bully.
His words always stuck in my mind. You stand boy, you face him head on, you do not stoop to his level, he knows you are not to be messed with, he will never bully you again, be it by fist or mind never walk from a bully. Some of the best advice I ever had and I never got bullied and never will be bullied.
Don't let them drag you down 57 mate. You have many more allies than foes on here my friend.

Thanks Steptoe and others. Don't worry no one will drive me away if only because I would not let them have the pleasure of thinking they had done so. I like your Bobby Pounder story - I did not know him but having been brought up in one of the "better" areas of the Bush and White City I understand and fully practice his advice.
I have had far worse things said to me than on this board but there comes a time when someone has to call a spade a spade - even if it means stooping to their level as the only thing they will understand. It reminds me of another story in the peak days of hooligans when a local Bobby told me the only thing some of these idiots understand is a good beating with a truncheon. Of course it did not cure them but made the Bobby feel a lot better about having face up to the hooligan crap and violence aimed in the polices direction.
One of the problems with modern "communication" is that some people think they can publish anything they want with apparent impunity under the anonymity of the internet. It is a sad reflection that they are allowed to do so but when they are challenged it is the challenger who is taken to task for daring to hit back.
As I said in my longer reply to Mason earlier in this thread I have other things to deal with at the moment so I may take a break for a while but will read and post occasionally when I want. Weird thing is the family death I referred to in that post happened on the 58th anniversary of my first first team game at Loftus Road - a day I was going to celebrate and post about.
Glad to hear you wont be going anywhere 57. I think some could have and should have shown a bit more compassion towards you, last thing you need when having a stressful time in your personal life is people digging you out. Old Bobby was a lovely fella, his picture used to be on the wall at the Golden Gloves on the Fulham Palace Road, he boxed in the 30s and early 40s before heading off to war, tried to find some info on him on the web but have always drawn a blank for some reason. On people hiding behind anonymity, I am afraid that is just one of those things that is part of deal when posting on forums, like you are going to do, best to rise above sly digs and insults when they come your way. The way I see it is, if someone I do not know personally has a pop then its water of a ducks back, best to let those that annoy shoot themselves in the foot, as it seems inevitable that is what they will end up doing.

I had no idea this thread had got so emotional!!
Anyway, 291million spent on transfers in 3 years by rogers!. Though they recouped an awful lot on Suarez and sterling(-9million to us!!).
I actually like Rogers as a manager and admire his philohopsy on how the game should be played, no one can say he was not given enough time. Just shows how hard this management game can be. A huge club like Liverpool not really challenging for how many years now?.
This gets me back to some of the nonsense and stats spouted about CR but i wont go on!!.

You had 3 things going on at Liverpool though. The club way of doing things dating back to Shankly, The players way and Rodgers way. As you said he is a good coach, got plenty of money and got some decent players but it just didn't happen. Mind you in their case it hasn't happened since the EPL came into being.

I did have a chuckle at 57's post - it was so out of character, I suspect it may have been made after a couple too many sherbets! 57's 'entrapment' may not be admissible as evidence in a court of law, but I have to agree Paul has had a tendency to antagonise, wind up, insult and 'point-score'. Everyone's entitled to their view, without being insulted or derided. If I was picking a QPR Report team, 57 would be an automatic choice. Paul would be loaned out to a lower league outfit (WATRB?) pending review. If he were to accept the criticism (like Chery did after Fulham), he'd be back in the squad. If he remained in denial (like Taraabt), he'd be out on a free. ----- As for the OP - I'm not surprised Rodgers was given the boot. I was more surprised he was given the job in the first place. Liverpool seem to be living on the memories of past glories and are arrogant enough to somehow believe they have a right to a top 4 finish. Have to admit, they're a team I love to hate, but if they get Klopp on board, I'll find that difficult to sustain - he seems one of the game's genuine, what-you-see-is-what-you-get characters.
