QPR forward makes substitute appearance in 4-1 win against QatarR’S youngster Reece Grego-Cox made his first appearance for the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21 squad on Friday evening. The 18-year-old was a second half substitute for the Republic’s Under-21 side in their 4-1 win against Qatar’s Under-23 team at Bury’s Gigg Lane home. Grego-Cox replaced Fulham’s Sean Kavanagh at the start of the second half as Ireland sealed the friendly win. He came close to adding a fifth goal late on for Ireland as he broke into the box following a mazy run, but he saw his effort go the wrong side of the post and into the side netting. RGC had one of the final chances of the game in the 87th minute as he first saw Hussein tip his effort around the post before nearly catching the Qatari goalkeeper out with an in-swinging corner, forcing him to tip it onto his crossbar. Ireland’s U21 side travel to Andorra on Tuesday for their UEFA U21 Championships Qualifying Round Group 2 qualifier. www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/reece-grego-cox-ireland-under-21s-qatar-debut-2670678.aspxCongratulations Reece, onwards and upwards.
