Hull 0-0 QPR
Hull made a solid start to life in the Championship as they were held to a goalless draw by QPR at the KC Stadium.
Hull manager Peter Taylor had to make a change in the first minute when right-back Mark Lynch was injured in a collision with Paul Furlong.
Tommy Doherty sent a half-volley just over the bar for QPR and Kevin Gallen and Furlong both missed good chances.
Hull's Steve McPhee went close from six yards and Andy Dawson sent a 20-yard free-kick just wide of the post.
Hull manager Peter Taylor:
"I'm very pleased and I thought we played very well.
"We played with confidence and belief. We were under pressure but this is always going to happen at this level.
"The longer the game went on I felt that we were getting stronger and stronger and thought we were going to score a goal."
QPR boss Ian Holloway:
"I thought we looked solid and worked hard on looking as solid as we could.
"As long as you are creating chances and not giving much away then usually you end up a good side, which I think we are.
"On the day our final ball wasn't quite good enough but that's football."
