No bids for him then.
To be honest with you I think a season in the Championship will do both him and Onouoha a lot of good.
They both need to get their confidence back and in the Championship they're probably the best CB pairing in the league.
Sometimes you need to take a step back before you can go forward and I think thats the case with Caulker and Ned.

Sounds like he wants to leave but he wouldn't mind staying. Would be great to have him and ned as i think theyre both premier league quality (albeit lower end of the table). Shocked to see hes only 23. Since ehmer is gone who do we have at CB? caulker ned and hill?

Well in the interview with him on QPR Player he mentions that when he signed for QPR he wanted it to be a long term stay and that nothing has changed that so I don't think he does want to leave.

Great didn't see that. I count that as good news. Like Nomar said he can bounce back in the Championship and get some confidence so i expect him to do well here

The thing with Caulker (and to some degree Fer) is that buying players straight after a relegation rarely ever pays off.
They are already demoralised having been part of what would have been a rather depressing changing room and is very easy for that become a recurring problem at their next club, settling back into that downward spiral.
If Caulker has a good season at a lower level it will boost his confidence so much that I am sure next time around in the Prem he would do better and be more experienced

Maybe we can hang on to Caulker and Fer then ? Knowing our luck they will both go 31/8 with no cover for them .
Any news on Sandro?
Phillips and Austin will both go soon though, still 22-23 million for about 9 million purchased is very good business.

If Caulker has a good season at a lower level it will boost his confidence so much that I am sure next time around in the Prem he would do better and be more experienced The other problem is they invariably end up at clubs who are also likely to be relegated and who will almost certainly spend most of the season battling relegation, So, as you said, the downward spiral then continues. Caulker needs to get his head down now and put in some dominant performances alongside Ned in defence in this division and I think he'll be ready for the step back up to the Prem next season. He can also score goals in the Championship, which will only increase his appeal to Prem teams next season. Last season he was hamstrung by 2 crocked veterans (3 if you count HIll) and a paceless midfield who couldn't protect our back four against the speedsters of the Premier League. This term he will have midfielders who can run and I assume much younger and fitter defenders long side him. I think he'll get on fine if he stays.

There was barely a bad word about Steven Caulker from more than 50 fan postings after he reaffirmed his future with QPR. Obviously dont read this MB Supporters to a man and a woman believe the Feltham-born defender will come good in the Championship. Forums were rock solid saying Caulker will find the second tier to his taste - even though the ex-Cardiff man was castigated long and loud as Rs took the Premier League plunge last season. As one put it with tongue in cheek: “The fact they won't be facing the likes of Aguero, Sanchez, Rooney, Silva, Yaha, Kane and Mata week-in, week-out may help slightly. “With respect, MK Dons, Rotherham & Preston don't posses the same sort of threat.”
Another insisted the 23-year-old will finally come good. “He will be the best centre back in the league. He loses concentration too easy for the Prem which is so unforgiving. The Championship he's got to deal with strikers like Darren Bent, he'll be fine.” One supporter believes staying in west London will do Caulker good. “I'm sure he’s fairly happy to be home and close to his family etc. “I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do in the Championship. His size alone should make him a beast and I can see him nicking a few goals from set pieces if we can actually get somebody taking them properly!”
Perhaps he knows where his bread is buttered - Like SWP did??

He's a poor player doesn't matter to me if he stays or goes. He's not a poor player but he did have a poor season. There is a big difference between the two of those things.

Darren Bent is still good enough to give Caulker a good run for his money. Don't get this he will be fine in the championship because he won't have to face Sanchez and all that every week. There are many a pacy striker in the championship that will enjoy running at him, he has the turning speed of the H.M.S Bulwark and cannot read the game like a good centre half should.
I say sell now, never rated him at Cardiff and do not rate him now.

Glad he has gone on loan!!!
Shame we didn't sell him!!!
For me he is very overrated always out of position gets dragged all over the place and is a real liability!!!

Am I missing something or are we now even more depleted in defence now?
I was hoping we'd keep Caulker for the season, but clearly not the case now.
I think he'll thrive at Southampton though. Good team and has pact defenders around him.

Dont really understand this

Dont really understand this Not hard to understand really. Player wants to play Premier League football. Player earning Premier League wages in a Championship side. Player receives offer from Premier League club who are in Europe. Premier League club offers to pay players wages plus a loan fee. Player happy, team will not stand in way of player returning to the Prem and getting his wages off their books for the season. The only thing that is concerning is that there's no ready made replacement for him yet, but that doesn't mean there isn't going to be one. There really is no point in keeping players if they want to play in the Prem and they get an offer to do so, so the club have done well to get Southampton to pay all his wages and sump up £1.5m as well.

Might aswell as Loaned him out I guess and got what we can and free up some cash for two replacements on his salary. He probably would have sulked all season if we kept him here like alot of modern day footballers. We dont want any more eggs, so I say blow it.

CAULKER 7 th JULY Speaking to Sky Sports, Caulker said, “At the moment I’m staying at QPR. I’m settled there and there’s a much more positive vibe this year. “Everyone’s feeling confident ahead of the season and we’re looking to go on and do good things. I can’t assure them because things change but as it stands I’ll be at QPR.” YEP , IT CHANGED ALRIGHT. GET RID , BAD EGG

Had high hopes when we signed him but he was very disappointing. Actually quite weak for his size and positional sense was poor. Completely lost confidence last season and the crowd were starting to get on his back. Obviously feels he is too good for the championship, consecutive relegations seem to suggest otherwise.
I can't understand the loan deal either, he should have been sold.

So Furlong Nedum Hill & Yun as our best back 4? Or Perch Ned Hill Yun as our back four so far. But think by the end of August we will have a stronger back line. Also we can sign a loan player when the season starts in the football league, so for me plenty of time to get the right players in.

I can't understand the loan deal either, he should have been sold. I reckon the loan deal is related to your first point - he reckons he's too good for the championship but the back to back relegations may suggest otherwise. We're in a position of needing to get higher earners off the books and in turn Southampton realise that there's a decent element of risk in terms of bringing him in - so the loan option means they mitigate risk and we get him off our wage bill for a year plus a lump sum. And if all things go swimmingly (have a frustrating feeling he'll probably end up being good for them in that setup) then there's a deal pre-arranged. I'd rather he was sold too but this seems like an alright compromise.

Caulker's better than what we saw last season.
Unfortunately we (Harry) gave him the equivalent of playing with one leg and an eye patch by placing him with aged crocks and a guy who was being played completely out of his natural position.
Southampton have got good young and experienced players in their defence and they needed a CB. Caulker's better than Yoshida, who was their current starting option, so I think he'll slot in there and do well.
Make no mistake about it, I'd have loved Caulker and Ned in the Championship as I think that would have been the best CB pairing in this division. But you can't stop players moving on to Prem clubs if you've been relegated, so the club have done the right thing here and actually gotten a darned good deal in the process.
I doubt very much that we'd have gotten this kind of deal if "The Beard" was still in charge. That £1.5m loan payment would have been our transfer fee for him plus we'd have probably had to have subsidised part of his wages just to shift him on. He'd have probably resigned SWP to a bumper 5 year £50k a week package too.

Sorry nomar.
I can't agree with you. Caulker is not better than we saw.
He performed exactly how Cardiff fan's told us he would.
At his current rate of decline he will possibly be out of the Football League within four years. This may be due to his lifestyle rather than ability, but mnany a man has peaked before they left their teens!

But for me Caulker should have stood out like a boil on the end of a nose in last seasons team if he is as good as you say. I cant see him suddenly being able to handle the likes of Sanchez and alike next season. Might be wrong of course, just don't think he is a prem defender.
