GERRY ON NEW SIGNING
R'S BOSS Gerry Francis is pleased with the £60,000 signing of Watford striker Michel Ngonge.
Gerry said:" We tried to get Michel on loan a few times but Watford weren't prepared to do that. His contract there was up in the summer, so we eventually managed to do a deal.
"We've signed Michel until the end of the current season with a year's option on behalf of QPR. With Chris Kiwomya still struggling with his Achilles, Peter Crouch having a slight problem with his knee and Paul Peschisolido returning to Fulham, it was very important to get more cover for the forwards.
"I've always quite liked Michel's style of play. He's got a lot of experience playing in Turkey and Belgium. He's very quick and strong, good in the air and is certainly someone who livens things up.
"Last season, Michel was Watford's second leading scorer in the Premiership. That's a difficult division to score in and he did very well there. He got five goals from only 16 Premiership starts. He was quite a crowd favourite with Watford and I hope he can do the same things for us.
"Obviously, we are not exactly spending millions here. This is only the third person we have actually paid money for this season, following on from Clarke Carlisle and Peter Crouch. But we are hoping that Michel can turn out as well as Clarke and Peter."

MICHEL'S DELIGHTED TO BE A RANGER
NEW RANGERS signing Michel Ngonge can't wait to get out onto the pitch following his move from Watford.
The pacey six foot striker has joined QPR for the rest of the season and is confident he can find the net and help the team climb the table.
He said: "I'm really pleased to join QPR. I've enjoyed two-and-a-half years at Watford but this season it's been difficult to get a first team place. The move for QPR gives me a good chance to further my career and it's a good challenge.
"I know QPR are a big club. When I was growing up in Belgium people always knew about QPR. Since I've been in this country they have been in Division One, but they are potentially a very big club. They have lots of supporters and there is also some talented players here."
The 33-year-old joined Watford in 1998 from Turkish side Samsunspor following spells at Racing Jette, AA Ghent and FC Sera. He is also a Democratic Republic of Congo international and played for his country in the recent African Nations Cup.
He added: "I want to score lots of goals for QPR and help them climb out of the position they are in. I think I can do that. I know my abilities and this is a good challenge for me. When you are a striker you need to be challenged and this is a good opportunity to give my career a lift.
"One of my strengths is my speed. I'm quite fast and good in the air. I'm strong mentally and I know what I can do. When you get over 30 you realise what strengths you have in your game and put them together with all you have learned in football. I want to give that to QPR."
