21 Nov 2014 KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia X Bhd founder Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has denied that the low-cost medium haul airline is facing management issues, although he expects to play a bigger role in turning the airline around with his partner Datuk Kamarudin Meranun. He also brushed off media reports that AirAsia X was facing problems paying salaries and allowances to its staff. โThere are no plans to revamp the current management at AirAsia X. Instead, it is going to be a hands-on approach (from now on). I have also not been in Malaysia much, and it is time to return so that we can give the management a helping hand. โI just want to clarify that we have no problems paying our staffโs salaries and loans. You try and default a loan and see what happens, I will be wearing a cap with no hair (then),โ he told reporters after launching the AirAsia Asean Pass. โThe airline industry goes through ups and downs and we are always able to go through them. We will find solutions and are not giving up. This year has also been a tough year for the aviation industry, especially for an airline based in Malaysia,โ Fernandes added. As part of its five-pronged strategy to turn around the airline, AirAsia X will defer delivery of its new planes and halt its capacity expansion for the time being. www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2014/11/21/No-management-revamp-at-AirAsia-X-Founder-to-play-bigger-role-in-turning-airline-around/?style=biz

Might not be the worst thing, Fernandes was the one to budge on Rio and supposedly the rest of the board is against signing Defoe fearing it will be a similar type of signing. I am willing to bet these guys will be more likely to make more business like decisions and not giving Harry whatever he wants because they are friends. I could see this leading to the end of Harry, but hopefully this doesn't mean he just stops caring and lets QPR go down. So far it doesn't seem that way though. One thing is certain, the January window will be interesting. Until then, need to get some points from the next month's matches.

Looks like someones had his toys taken away from him.
Well, as my Mum used to say, 'If your not going to play with them responsibly...........'
Something tells me there will be more price hikes next season, with further cuts to 'the match day experience'. If we stay up that is.
Tony Fernandes' record: most games played in the Premiership without a win, never took QPR higher in the league than where we were when he took over and most races in Formula 1 without ever scoring a single point. Nice guy though.

I would guess amit and Ruben have had enough of his style of running QPR. Bailing out of formula 1 quite promptly, and the huge losses of air Asia x has dented his ego some what. One two many projects IMO. The club is teatering on a very unstable vision with a financial fall a possible outcome. I would be happy for my club if tf was to go. Think amit would claw some reality back to w12. Saying all that....tf is known to throw a strop just to get the attention.

OR, he is preparing to bale, or pull the plug if we go down. Hopefully not, but it isn't out of the realm of possibilities. He did bail from Caterham. Definitely need to stay up this season, especially if he decides to bail. Can't see too many people jumping to buy a team in our debt in the Championship, that is if the fines are paid, granted that would become the new owners responsibility depending on the situation.

If CarGiant wins he has no reason to stay! He is not a QPR supporter, he is a West Ham 'supporter'. We may benefit from his largesse on the way to achieving his ambition. I have no problem with that. If he had been a bit more astute, not listened to that leech Joorabchian and not employed Hughes we MAY (or may not) have been in a more stable position.

The whole Old Oak project - going far beyond a stadium - and the effort to tie to as though it's a QPR Project.

Not sure why TF tweets that choice of wording to me "absolute rubbish as per normal" as though I'm responsible for it being said

To summarize as I just did on the QPR Report Blog #QPR Chairman #TonyFernandes Says No Change in His Position at QPR - Tony Fernandes Says No Change in Running QPR - A couple days ago, a brief part of a supposed interview with QPR (and Air Asia) Chairman, Tony Fernandes in some publication, was sent around originally on twitter; and then reposted on various QPR Messageboards. In that apparent interview excerpt, Fernandes said "...I have moved out of Formula 1 Work and [English Premier League team] QPR work. I am now leaving it to Ruben (Gnanalingam) and Amit (Bhatia, son-in-law of Indian tycoon Lakshmi Mittal) to take a bigger role in managing this. I am also reducing the number of directorships I have in Tune [group]. I will be spending more time in Malaysia working on Air Asia and Air Asia X" Original Twitter Link A number of people took note of this and further disseminated it in tweets and on Messageboards " qprreport If anyone missed yesterday: Snippet @tonyfernandes interview saying was leaving more to Ruben & Amit Running of #QPR goo.gl/zhx4hV Last Night, Chairman Fernandes declared in a tweet: "absolute rubbish as per normal. No Change in my position Chairman as long as everyone wants Ruban and Amit have always helped" Tony Fernandes โ @tonyfernandes qprreport absolute rubbish as per normal. No change in my position. Chairman as long as everyone wants . RUBAN and amit have always helped 7:23 PM - 27 Nov 2014 qprreport.blogspot.com/2014/11/tonyfernandes-says-no-change-in-running.html

Strange because he has done all that was in that interview piece.

Hey there 57 I wish for the club to be economically viable and able to operate with its own ground without having to rely on owners who both grow and underwrite a debt that is only viable if a partially related property development comes to fruition. In this respect I am risk averse when it comes QPR and I would like it if all fans and stakeholders felt the same.
When it comes to economic viability, you want the same thing I think. The difference is whether Tony's strategy provides this.

In my opinion it is ok to post a reaction to a story without knowing its provenance. Otherwise I could not post anything because I cannot guarantee the credibility of anything posted here with the exception of official QPR announcements. Conjecture is part of the fun of posting and it would be pretty quiet here otherwise.
So I do not think there is anything amazing about that nor is it an indictment of this board.
