Year bump www.hoopsdownunder.net/tony_qaExcerpt (Complete at... MD: Things haven’t started well so far this season but you have made it crystal clear that you are standing by Harry Redknapp. What is your simple message to those naysayers who think Harry should be sacked?TF: Harry is a fantastic manager. He has a great tradition in English football and I am so pleased he is our manager. His passion for this job and QPR is incredible. I’ve got a really good relationship with him, I speak to him a couple of times a day and we meet regularly when I’m in London. He’s a lovely guy with an unrivalled passion for the game. MD: What were your expectations for QPR this season and do you think the club is on the right track to matching those expectations? And why?TF: Survival was – and is – the key goal this season. Of course we all have our own expectations, but the number one priority is trying to stay in the Premier League, the best league in the world. We have a good squad, with a nice blend of youth and experience, and our performances at home this season have shown what we are capable of. We need to maintain the level of performances we showed against Liverpool and Villa. MD: Whether the club is faced with relegation or manage to survive this season, without going into too much detail, are there some solid plans in place for both scenarios? Obviously this talk of an FFP fine does make Rs fans a little nervous….TF: Let’s just focus on this season for now, guys. I am confident we can have a good season and stay in the Premier League. We’ve got a good manager and a really strong group of players who share a special bond. There’s a great spirit in the dressing room. It’s too early to comment on if’s, but’s and maybe’s – let’s focus on getting some more points on the board and climbing out of the bottom three over the coming weeks. Of course we have medium and long term plans regarding the training ground and the proposed new stadium, but they’re on-going and we’ve got a great staff working on both of those projects on a daily basis. MD..... Here’s a question all QPR fans in Australia & NZ would love to know…would you ever consider sending the club for a pre-season tour down under? What would it take for Tony to say “sure…see you Rs down under!” TF: I’m sure it is something we would consider in the future. Pre-season is a vitally important time for a football club and a lot of work goes into making sure all the boxes are ticked from a footballing perspective first and foremost, as well as commercial, PR and marketing. Let’s see. It would be pretty cool.... COmplete at www.hoopsdownunder.net/tony_qa
