Seems pretty harsh. John Slime Terry only got 4 - after he held out for a long, long time.
And I'd like Ferdinand to be available...

Sounds alright to me, I was worried Harry might have a change of heart and start playing him again. Still have Hill available and is Onouha fit yet?

Good news but a 30 game ban would've been better ! Can now spend his time promoting his book , oh sorry I forgot he was doing that anyway !

Sorry I disagree. First, you have to back the manager who has the backing of the Chairman. If the Manager wants to play a certain player, who are we to argue? And besides, I'd like to have him available and not selected if necessary...But not out of the picture, as long as we have him. And I absolutely feel it's very harsh in comparison

From the BBC www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29826136 Rio Ferdinand suspended and fined over Twitter commentQPR defender Rio Ferdinand has been suspended for three matches and fined £25,000 by the Football Association for comments he made on Twitter. The 35-year-old ex-England captain has also been "severely warned as to his future conduct" and told to attend an education programme arranged by the FA. It is believed the misconduct charge related to a comment where he used the word "sket". The definition of the term is "a promiscuous girl or woman". Matches Ferdinand will miss Saturday, 1 November: v Chelsea (A) Saturday, 8 November: v Man City (H) Saturday, 22 November: v Newcastle (A) On 1 September, Ferdinand wrote the tweet thought to have led to the charge in reply to a message sent to him suggesting his team needed a new centre-half. He was tagged in a message that read: "Maybe QPR will sign a good CB (centre back) they need one" and wrote back: "get ya mum in, plays the field well son! #sket" - a Jamaican slang word. Ferdinand, who made the last of his 81 appearances for England in June 2011, is a member of FA chairman Greg Dyke's commission looking at how to improve English football. The ex-Manchester United centre-back has sent more than 14,000 tweets since joining the social networking site in 2010.

Having seen what they are wanting to suspend Rio for, I've got to agree with Mac that it seems overly harsh to me. Can't see them doing that to someone from Manure, Chelscum or the like!

Sket? What the hell is that? Skank is the word to describe a female in that type of personage. Sket? Sounds like some sort of shiting fetish.

Is it just me, or do the football authorities seem to have it in for us? I'm thinking of the way our promotion, the last time was messed up with the Alejandro FaurlÃn transfer mess. Dragging out the John Terry affair, and going way back to the old astroturf pitch. even further back not letting us play in Europe when we won the League Cup. And now this; three games and a fine for using a word that I had to look up, which is a horrible word, but how does that compare to the sentence that came out of Terry's gob?
I suppose we could look on the bright side, because I thought our defence was a lot better without Rio.

Got to agree with pretty much all of this, not to forgot another from this season with using us as an example with potential violating financial fair play. Obviously the starting XI is better off without Rio, but if there is an injury it would leave the squad incredibly short.

I look forward to the day when any Manure, Chelscum, Man Shity or Arse players get dealt to by the FA as much as they concentrate on us. That's right, it will never happen.

I have never heard the phrase before but I assume it means something like "slag".
Rio's defense via his solicitors appears to be that he meant it to mean a lady who could play anywhere on the football pitch and that appears pretty lame.
If a professional footballer uses a derogetory term to a member of the public they might get away with it but they should not be surprised if they get a telling off.

Rio Ferdinand ban because he is role model - Football Association
The Football Association says QPR defender Rio Ferdinand was harshly punished for comments he made on Twitter because he is a "role model". Ferdinand was banned for three matches and fined £25,000 for using the word "sket" - a promiscuous girl or woman. "With nearly 6m followers, Mr Ferdinand is clearly an experienced Twitter user and should know better," said the FA. "He is, without doubt, a role model for many young people. His responsibility is therefore that much greater." The 35-year-old's previous indiscretions were also taken into account, with the former England captain fined £45,000 in 2012 for endorsing a tweet referring to then Chelsea defender Ashley Cole as a "choc ice". The FA's regulatory commission, in its written verdict, said it "considered it an aggravating factor that this was Mr Ferdinand's second aggravated breach in less than three years". The verdict went on to say that "there is no formal or direct admission and there is certainly no sign of remorse".

What a load of complete and utter bollocks from the FA. Following their logic, a convicted rapist playing professional football could say this and it would be OK but Rio can't because he's a role model! If Rio had sent this a the peak of his ability playing for Manure and England there is no way on Earth that he would have been suspended. The FA picking on little QPR again and we just take it. I'm outraged even if no other Rs supporters are. Not good enough!!

Doesnt matter if we want Rio Ferdinand playing or not
I think it's an incredibly harsh sentence especially compared to all the other sentences handed out
And JT only got 4 matches - after fighting it all the way

Meanwhile, over here a couple of OHA hockey players each got suspended 15 games for making comments disparaging of women.
