BBC Greek league games called off after fan dies following violence The Greek government has postponed all professional domestic sports matches this weekend after a football supporter died following stadium violence. Kostas Katsoulis, 46, died in hospital from a brain haemorrhage two weeks after the clash with rival fans at a third division match in Crete. Four people have been charged with attempted murder following the Ethnikos and Irodotos game on 15 September. Football, basketball and handball matches have all been postponed. Giannis Adrianos, deputy minister for culture and sports, said the decision had been made "as a small token of respect to the memory of Kostas Katsoulis". The Ethnikos Piraeus supporter suffered serious head injuries following clashes with Irodotos fans. www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29419219

WTF, it's only a football game. Why oh why do some morons have to go to such lengths as take a fans life in the name of "supporting their team". FFS, they should shoot them for being idiots.

I think some people need a reality check as you are suggesting. Football is meant to be a distraction from the daily grind of living and working. It should be fun. It should be passionate yet respectful too. I dont mean we are buddy buddy with opposing fans or even within our group but I do say, just respect the other persons point of view.
Fortunately in the A League we dont have that problem except in Western Sydney and Melbourne Victory, but their issues are purely racial and remenents from the former NSL.
Phoenix fans are pretty good. We argue amongst ourselves and settle it over a beer in a good way. We just out to have fun and enjoy it. Like at the last home game last season we did a Conga dance all down one side of the stadium and met up with opposing travelling fans and they were quite surprised and joined in the fun.
Was a laugh to see except when Red Badge or the Fun Police as we know them, got all upset thinking there was trouble when their wasn't. I see those numpties are still at it too with a recent game here.

Too many of our lot that go away are either pissed up, coked up or are just lacking in brain cells. It's been like that for the past 5 or 6 years.
It's not fun mixing with the detritus that follows us, which is why I choose not to go in the away end for our games anymore.
