I was quite surprised to hear how TF talked up Adel on Sky last evening. Seems to think he is the best thing since sliced bread and could really be a star for us this season. Would be great if he could get fit and capture his old form but why do I have my doubts? I also worry about his potentially disruptive influence on the dressing room.

I have always thought the four year contract that AT signed was driven by Tony Fernandes and not the manager (which one wanted him) and I have a feeling this could lead to the parting of HR and TF.
I hope I am wrong, but just like Tony Pulis would not have Zaha forced on him and into his team, my bet is HR wont have Adel forced on him either and the things TF said last night on Sky was a worrying development for me. Hopefully he was just putting lipstick on a pig, but I think he was making it clear he thinks he should be playing his part, even though he is overweight and dont want to be at W12 (Adel's words not mine).
How anyone can find a positive (there will be many) that we are stuck with him as no one else wanted him is beyond me and out of curiosity, does anyone think there are any Man Utd fans doing cartwheels that Tom Cleverly stayed or Liverpool fans doing back flips that Borini stayed?

I've always felt that Redknapp didn't like Taarabt want him and didnt work on and with him.
BUT Taarabt has to do his bit as well - STARTING with losing weight/getting fit. The ultimate of the non-professional
There are a number of successful "Prima Donna" footballers out there - but they take their profession seriously - which means being fit

Agree completely but TF seems to have not given up yet and is giving one more last chance. Trouble is if he becomes disruptive we are stuck with him at least until January unless we buy out his contract. We should have swapped him for Diarra and let him cool his heels in Moscow for a while. Fernandes says a lot of things on the spur of the moment that mean absolutly nothing.

For those of you of a certain age will remember the crockery sellers down the markets you would watch them throw the plates around and crack them together making you believe they were of the best quality and you'd be mad not to buy them. That's what Fernandes was doing last night concerning Taarabt!!!!

What I can't understand is why he does not train ,maybe its me but I would have thought that if you wanted to get a transfer then surely yo should be at your peak fitness wise ,I know if I was one of the clubs looking at him I would want to see a player in perfect condition not a fat tub of lard , IMO anyway

That's what Fernandes was doing last concerning Taarabt!!!! I remember ! Trouble is its too late for any club to buy him and I do not think our fans will buy the Taarabt nonsense anymore either. Maybe Fulham will take him back on loan - he could do ok in the Championship:)
Not all the transfer windows closed last night. If my memory serves me right Russia and Turkey close a couple of weeks after us so still time for some to go. SWP please!!!!

What amazes me is that the likes of Taarabt can decide he doesn't want to a) lose weight and b) train. Surely he is in breach of contract? Or is that too simple? I expect his agent has got it all tied up so we can't get shot of him on such grounds. These sharks have much to answer for. I shall be totally p****d off if he gets in the 25 but I know he will!

HR brought Adel on for the last few minutes of the Sunderland game so he can't be that anti him. From reports Adel was one of the few shining lights from the Burton game too. If he gets fit I'm sure he can play a part for us. Joey and Clint will make sure he doesn't become a disruptive influence!

I really enjoyed watching him in the Championship year we went up. He alone entertained us that season. With no other strikers signed he might well be needed between now & January if Austin & Zamora get injured... We have given Barton another chance (and his behaviour was a disgrace against Manchester City) - I don't think we have any choice but to give him another chance - I for one hope it works out because he has proven skill - more than any other player in the squad

TF isn't the only one, Harry seems to be praising him a lot lately, especially after the Burton game. I think with Harry it's the old management trick of saying something positive and then following it was something he needs to improve on(obviously training and fitness) to motivate him. Not sure where Taarabt fits in with this team, but I have a feeling they have plans for him before he possibly gets sold/loaned out in the January window.

Denial isnt just a river in Egypt, post recent comments by TF and HR he will definatley be in the 25, unless he can still be loaned out (not sure if thats still possible?)
And with good reason IMO. Gulp!.....Here we go:
He's not shot his bolt like SWP, love him or hate him(He definantley loves his Nando's)Adel does have value, he's an incredibly talented 25 year old eejit who can win games on a turn.
Ok, he dreamt of playing for AC Milan just like Joey did with OM....remember how well the club integrated Barton back into the team last year including us supporters....and what a season he delivered!
With Milan refusing to meet his wage/transfer values and given the gravitas, cohesion and strength of our dressing room, I wager he badly regrets making some of those negative comments last season, it might be the lesson in humility this lad needs.....we live in hope!!
So...Is it possible HR and GH could turn him around...its a deliscious thought, if it happens fan support will be just as critical...I'd get behind him?

From what traore has said he seems to have grasped the reality of his situation and seems like he is prepared to really knuckle down. It may be that he can pass some of that on to taraabt. It certainly feels like the rest of the squad are pretty solidly together and commited so if taraabt doesn't integrate and put a shift in it's going to be a long autumn for him
There is always hope I suppose

Bored now for two seasons ... Just go adel , enough! Can't have good memories now , just want him to jog on. You lot are too forgiving .. Type of player we've moved on from and don't want him anywhere near this current team that may just surprise us, at how far they could go.

He is one of the few talented players in the EPL and in the World, few players can take on defenders the way he can, if he can be less selfish, he could easily become top 10 payers in the world with a value of &50,000,000 or more. The owners would not let him go for reason, all of you geniuses here are just talking hate, my guess that he will let his contract expire or Someone will step up and buy it out, He was the best player in AC Milan over-shadowing Kaka, Balo, Honda, Ronaldinho and the rest, his hype in Italy was unprecedented for the few months he played there. if I were him I would buy out the contract from The R's, and free my self to shine in the world stage, what good is money if you are miserable. Milan Happened to be flat broke for whatever reason, and his heart was set on playing there and nowhere else, none of the top 5 EPL teams even appeal to him, their style of play is just blend, Adel likes the art of football and to entertain, When he's Happy He's Magical, and no one decent player is happy playing for Arry or playing along side Crazy Barton. I really hope he leaves England sooner rather than later so He can shine the way he is capable of doing. Set him free.

Nice post deanmouk The truth is Arry wants us to get relegated and our chairman is rich and isn't interested in picking up 50mill+ for Taarabt. Maybe we should give Barcelona Taarabt and SWP in exchange for Messi and Neymar

I dont need to recount again all the negatives about Adel Taarabt - or the insanity of him being overweight and unfit - regardless of whether he stays or goes.
Difference between Taarabt & SWP is that Taarabt wants to play football and is extremely talented.
Now how to "channel" that seems to be beyond everyone

Taarabt can still offer much much more to this club than SWP can dream of. When playing at his best he was awesome to watch. Perhaps with this decent squad he can rediscover that promotional form again and for once play to his potential.

Ah! A single issue poster. Haven't had one of those since Hitman34. Your name rings a bell or at least the mix of letters does. Weren't you one of Adel's helpers when he was trying to catch a bus from Fulham that time? You must remember, when our ultimate team player was unhappy playing for Warnock. Of course that didn't last long until he was unhappy playing for Hughes. I agree he must have felt a little bit desperate when he realised he was going to be unhappy playing for Redknapp again after he had been unhappy playing for him before when he was at Spurs. There was that brief flash wasn't there at that afternoon press conference when he was a teensy bit unkind about QPR and pleased he had been loaned to a club where he felt part of the family. Unfortunately it turned out to be an 'unhappy family' and our world class player found himself being loaned out whilst still on loan - that doesn't happen to many world class players now does it - shows he's special! Whilst at Milan overshadowing Kak etc. he showed that he was just that, the +£50m player you talk of, so much so in fact that during the whole of the transfer window they neglected to buy him for about £6m, a bargain missed I'd say, well, we'd all say.
I agree with some of what you say in that, 'we really hope he leaves England sooner rather than later ..............etc.etc.
You'd be wrong to think that we hate him especially if you read back on the many threads that there have been on this board. We have given him chance after chance but he doesn't help himself and I suppose what really upsets most is that he flings it back in our faces when he has had the chance to go. Once upon a time we worshipped him but it's like any fallen King.
