With the first post... ⚽QPR northolt_QPR 3m #QPR manager Redknapp already under pressure as Sherwood is eyed as a replacement mirr.im/1rveNTU A week is a long time in football! MIRROR QPR manager Harry Redknapp already under pressure as Tim Sherwood is eyed as a replacement Aug 25, 2014 18:00 By James Nursey Hoops' top brass had doubts over their boss last season after fluffing automatic promotion and now they are pointless and goalless after two top flight games Jamie McDonald Stinker: Redknapp's Rangers lost 4-0 to his former employers Tottenham on Sunday Harry Redknapp is under growing pressure at QPR after just two games of the Premier League season, with Tim Sherwood lined up as a replacement if they continue to struggle. The Loftus Road hierarchy have had doubts about Redknapp since the second half of last season, when QPR blew automatic promotion by winning just seven of their last 19 league games eventually going up from the Championship via the play-offs. Now, concerns have resurfaced following the team’s poor start to the new campaign. They lost on the opening day, 1-0 at home to Hull, and were battered 4-0 at Spurs on Sunday in an embarrassing performance that left Redknapp, 67, questioning his side’s work-rate. It leaves the west Londoners, who have switched to a new 3-5-2 formation under new first-team coach and former England manager Glenn Hoddle, bottom of the table on goal difference and still awaiting their first goal. Chairman Tony Fernandes is determined QPR stay up after they finished bottom in 2012-2013 despite appointing Redknapp in the November. We understand Rangers have identified Sherwood as a potential successor if Redknapp cannot turn their poor start around. Clive Rose LONDON, ENGLAND - MARCH 23: Manager Tim Sherwood of Tottenham Hotspur gestures during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton at White Hart Lane on March 23, 2014 in London, England. (Photo by Clive Rose/Getty Images) Tim sure would: Ambitious Sherwood is eager to land another top flight job Sherwood impressed as Spurs manager last season after succeeding the sacked Andre Villas-Boas in December. He guided the north Londoners to sixth place and into Europe with a win rate of 59.6 per cent – the highest of any Tottenham boss in the Premier League era. This was despite Sherwood claiming he felt like a “supply teacher”, with players being told by their agents he would not be at the club next season long before he was eventually sacked in May. Last week, Sherwood was a possible replacement for Tony Pulis at managerless Crystal Palace before pulling out of the running and claiming he wasn’t first choice. Redknapp recruited Sherwood to work with the White Hart Lane's youngsters in 2008 when he was manager there. Sherwood is an ambitious coach eager to get back into Premier League management and the QPR job would appeal. Redknapp is now under close scrutiny ahead of Wednesday’s Capital One Cup trip to League Two Burton and Saturday’s huge home game against Sunderland. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/qpr-manager-harry-redknapp-already-4105276#ixzz3BRPgPGqdFollow us: @dailymirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/qpr-manager-harry-redknapp-already-4105276

If (and that's a really gigantic IF right now) we beat Sunderland all the Redknapp out talk will be quickly forgotten.

Didn't write it or contribute in any way, but very good story in the Mirror about the QPR board doubting Redknapp, with Sherwood considered as possible replacement. You don't see me say that often because I'm arrogant and deluded/99% of Rangers stories that don't come from me are bollox!

Interesting if McIntyre finds some truth in the story. Although if Redknapp is sacked, I think Sherwood would be a good replacement. I am betting he will get more time, a loss against Sunderland won't help his cause though.

David McIntyre @davidmcintyre76 @mattwinton1 not a question of opinion. I said it was a good story because it is. What I think of the managerial situation's irrelevant.
Matt Winton @mattwinton1 10m @davidmcintyre76 why is it a good story Dave?

If Redknapp goes for the high jump, what about approaching Derby for McLaren?

More re Offer web.orange.co.uk/article/sports/redknapp_may_get_extension Redknapp may get extension
Sky sources report that QPR manager Harry Redknapp is set to be offered a contract extension despite their slow start to the Premier League season.QPR have lost their first two matches without scoring a goal and are currently bottom of the table, prompting speculation about the future of their veteran manager. However, the Tottenham boss has a contract which runs until the end of the season and it looks like he will get the opportunity to extend his stay at Loftus Road. Despite the presence of several summer signings, QPR were hammered 4-0 at Tottenham on Sunday and Redknapp was booed by the visiting supporters for acknowledging the Spurs fans. And reports on Tuesday morning even suggested that QPR were lining up Tim Sherwood, another former Tottenham boss, as a possible replacement for Redknapp. However, it looks like the 67-year-old will be given plenty of time to bed in the new arrivals and attempt to lift QPR up the table. Redknapp was unable to keep QPR in the top flight when he took charge during the 2012/13 season but took them back up at the first attempt when they beat Derby 1-0 in a dramatic play-off final in the spring. Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes remains upbeat despite the two opening defeats and has been getting advice from an unlikely source. He tweeted on Tuesday: "Just went to Downing Street for football advice. Wing back or simple 442? Ha ha. "I'm smiling, we have got good players."

Why would you offer a contract extension to someone that is struggling. At least wait to we have played 10 games and see how things are. If we are bottom after 10 games I think he should go.

Well he got us promoted so he deserves his chance . Warnock was given until Christmas after he got us promoted, why would Tony give HR any less . I suppose you could argue he has better players now .
If you look at how Sunderland and Palace started last year there is certainly no need to panic with Management changes but I am a little concerned with the new system and not sure how many games we should give it before reverting back if we even could, depending on how results go over the next few weeks.
If HR gets a new contract extension then I would back TF with that decision . With Hoddle as a No 2 we now have an added stability . Hoddles ideas will help us get some points .

Just to emphasize: The issue is not that I'm advocating Axing Redknapp. Because I'm not.
Or that REdknapp SHOULD be axed after just a couple of games or half a dozen games, etc.
The assertion is that THE CLUB is/was considering axing Redknapp - not only last season, but supposedly also now.

Sorry, just wanted to ask, why is this a good story? Absolute garbage as far as I'm concerned. Glad to hear that Harry is being offered a contract extension. Now that's a good story, trying to get a bit of stability at the club.

But how do you know the Club is offering an extension is not bs? (Or immediate response by club, which may pay for later?)

With all this speculation regarding Redknapp it can only be a matter of time before Fernandes will say that the board backs Harry 100%, #kissofdeath

I am sure we can say this story might not even be accurate coming from the Mirror . I see Dave M has said its valid too but not sure how good his contacts are at the club these days ?
I would imagine hundreds of chairman consider making changes at some time throughout the season but resist and it works out well.
So would take it that if HR is offered a new contract then were they both totally wrong suggesting about a considering a change in season 14-15.
Lets see how we perform in our next two home games , both winnable .

I've no reason to believe that McIntyre's Club knowledge isn't very good (but I might of course be wrong)
If the Club really wants to give Redknapp a new contact (which some might find strange), just would not want it to be based on "Showing" the other story not true. No real reason at this stage to offer Redknapp new deal.
(As for new contracts: Waddock and Gregory both got new contracts - and then were sacked shortly after... (Obviously under different ownership)

Harry inherited a bunch of over paid, under performing prim donnas, no team spirit and hardly any of those had any sell on value. We all know that we went on to get relegated. During his time here he has (almost) rid the squad of the poison that was like a Cancer within the club. No longer does the 'tail wag the dog' at QPR. By the end of last season the camaraderie was commendable and partly responsible for the greatest football day of most of our lives. We now have a squad of players that get on, have loads of potential, value, and in my opinion will go on to win games in the Prem. I personally thought we were unlucky to lose to Hull, but have to say we were piss poor at Spuds. One bad game. FFS get behind the man that has transformed our club by attracting the 'right sort' of players here, instilling an attitude that will hopefully cement our place in the Premier League.

I'm going to say it, maybe, for the final time.
I AM NOT ADVOCATING SACKING REDKNAPP
I reported what was being reported
I try and anticipate what the Chairman may do.
Not because I want that to happen or not.
So sure say Support Redknapp.
But you should address that to the Chairman not to me (or to other fans)
If things do go bad, it won't be me in the forefront of fans calling for a change. Just as they do offering their criticisms of players) (Although it may be some of those self-same fans who are happy to "critique" me.
And in the end it will be Fernandes doing what he thinks best.
But pretending a story is not out there doesnt make it invalid
And if we can't discuss, then why have a board or a twittosphere

I can't imagine the board is considering sacking Redknapp this soon, but maybe they are getting their ducks in a row and having a plan if things continue to go poorly. Also the thing with Sunderland and Crystal Palace was their sackings were made at the right time, not too late as I believe Hughes was. I can't see this board firing Harry after two games, but I can see it after ten if no improvements are made.

Well, I wouldn't mind if managers were appointed for, say, a mandatory three years.
If we believe in our managers, why not? To believe in the guy after half a dozen poor results - as we were expected to do with Hughes - and then to change our minds after a dozen isn't very much more patient than wondering whether he'll be sacked after two defeats.
If they were appointed for 3 years, we might be more realistic. By all means make the players responsible for the defeats dispensable instead. Summarily, and without compensation. If the manager can be sacked - and some are - very early in the season, why can't the players?
They earn enough in a month to do them a year, so there wouldn't be any hardship. And if incompetence is treated as breach of contract - or industrial misconduct - fine with me.
I can't imagine the Clubs agreeing to it, of course. The Board would have to think more carefully about the long term consequences of their decisions. And it would be more obvious that the mistake was theirs, and not their appointee's.
They might even come round to supporting their managers properly, either by giving them the resources to achieve the results they pretend the Club is capable of achieving, or if not, by getting expectations - or beliefs, or whatever it is that makes it seemingly unacceptable for small clubs to lose when small clubs do that all the time - by getting those expectations down to a realistic level.

Is Les about to return to his spiritual home as director of football ? I would love it if it is true as reported by the sun, just paper talk or is their truth in it.?
