Yes, but what's the point for the next three months. No place in our 25 for him and in the meantime a better option may turn up.

That article is rubbish, Vargas has always been more of a striker than a winger and the reason he wasn't very effective at Napoli was because he was played out of position, on the wing......

I thought we had filled our 25 lol www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/qpr-boss-harry-redknapp-eyeing-4175642?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeedQPR boss Harry Redknapp eyeing move for Portuguese free agent Hugo Almeida Sep 06, 2014 22:30 By Dave Kidd Despite the summer transfer window having come to an end on Monday, the Portugal forward could to move to QPR as he is a free agent Almeida would be free to move to Loftus Road despite the transfer window being closed Harry Redknapp is weighing up a move for free agent Hugo Almeida after QPR failed to sign a striker on deadline day. Rangers lost Loic Remy to Chelsea and were unable to tie up a deal for Jermain Defoe, who is staying with Major League Soccer side Toronto. Loftus Road chief Redknapp could still employ his Chilean World Cup star Eduardo Vargas in a central role, after his loan move from Napoli, but he is essentially a wide man, leaving only Charlie Austin and veteran Bobby Zamora as out-and-out strikers in the Rangers side. Portugal target man Almeida, 30, has been out of contract since leaving Turkish club Besiktas in May. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/qpr-boss-harry-redknapp-eyeing-4175642#ixzz3CZnmwVax Follow us: @dailymirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook The mirror has been the least accurate paper this window & while I did tweet the Almeida idea this week it would have to be an emergency. Almeida has been become a bit of an immobile lump in the last few years & his best role is holding up the ball for teams who score goals from midfield (i.e. Portugal). Thanks, I guess we will see what happens then. We dont really need an immobile lump so perhaps better if we struggle with what we have. It might be a hell of a struggle if we were to pick up two striker injuries in the next two months. Thanks 57 I wasnt sure if we could hqve a remote chance of signing anyone once that 25 was submitted so it surprised me.

Yes, but what's the point for the next three months. No place in our 25 for him and in the meantime a better option may turn up. Having browsed the 540 odd pages of the PL regulations yesterday (it was raining and I was bored) it is possible to sin Almeida or another free agent subject to a number of "ifs"
If Almeida or another free agent was a free agent at the close of the transfer window. If we open a squad place by loaning out a squad player in the loan window to a non PL team. If the PL approve the outward loan the open squad place If we sign Almeida for a minimum of 3 months on a normal PL contract If the PL approve his inclusion in the squad If the player receives International Clearance
Lots of if's but in fact each one individually is normal practice and the even PL have pre printed forms to complete to gain approval of each "if"
Of course the list of "ifs" would have been much shorter if we had left an open spot in the squad.
Thanks 57. Very helpful.

talksport.com/football/reports-qpr-weigh-bid-belgian-midfielder-140908112566Reports - QPR weigh up bid for Belgian midfielder By talkSPORT (@talksport) | Monday, September 8, 2014 QPR are weighing up a move for Belgian midfielder Gaby Mudingayi, according to reports in Italy. The 32-year-old is now a free agent after being released by Serie A side Inter Milan during the summer. As such Mudingayi is now on the lookout for a new club, with his preferred destination said to be a return to Belgium. However that has not stopped QPR expressing an interest and, according to Sportmediaset, the Premier League side may offer Mudingayi a contract. Scottish champions Celtic are another club who were previously keen on Mudingayi, although it is thought that their interest has now cooled. From the Mirror. Dodged a bullet? Fabio Borini will fight for Liverpool future after turning down Sunderland and QPR Sep 08, 2014 22:30 By David Maddock Boss Rodgers accepted summer offers from two rival Premier League clubs for Italian who is fourth in the Anfield striking pecking order, but he's stayed put Fabio Borini has insisted he is ready to fight for an Anfield future. The Italian has vowed to rise above the criticism aimed his way from Sunderland, QPR and Liverpool fans, for what they claimed were cynical wage demands which scuppered any chance of a transfer window switch. The striker knows he has a battle on his hands to even earn a place on the bench at the Anfield giants after boss Brendan Rodgers made it clear he should move on if he wanted game time. Yet Borini still believes in himself, and explained the tough situation he finds himself in will offer inspiration, not despair. “I know that it is a real challenge now to find a space in the Liverpool side, because the competition here is so great, and there are many good players," he said. “But for me, that should be a motivation, not a problem. "I have committed to the club, and I want to earn a place in the side. It is my aim to return to the team and to score goals for Liverpool. I know it will not be easy, it will be very challenging. But I am motivated. "Yes, I heard some criticism, but I made the decision and it is my job to prove I can be worth a place. That’s what I aim to do now.” Borini is fourth in the striking pecking order at Liverpool after the summer signings of fellow Italy international Mario Balotelli and England's Rickie Lambert, and Rodgers went to great lengths to persuade him to leave, accepting offers from both Sunderland and QPR. Amid claims from those two clubs that his wage demands were unrealistic, the Italian remains defiant. He says he has set himself a target to improve on the 10 goals he scored for the Black Cats on loan last term: “I said when I was at Sunderland I wanted to score goals to prove I could return to Anfield. "I want to score goals now for the club - I aim to improve on my record of last season. From this season, I still expect a lot of things. "I know there is competition. Balotelli has shown he works well with Liverpool and he has started well. But you expect competition at a big club like Liverpool.” The feeling persists, though, that the Italy international is merely biding his time until January, when he is hoping there will be a move from Inter Milan for his services. He could be offered an Anfield lifeline in the short-term though, with England star Daniel Sturridge likely to be out for up to three weeks with a thigh strain picked up on international duty. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fabio-borini-fight-liverpool-future-4185832#ixzz3CmOZoP2b Follow us: @dailymirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook

From the Western Daily Press Bristol Rovers sign former QPR winger Balanata ahead of Wrexham clash By Western Daily Press | Posted: September 09, 2014 By JAMES MCNAMARA Bristol Rovers have signed former QPR winger Angelo Balanta ahead of the match against Wrexham in the Vanarama Conference tonight Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke has moved to bolster his squad with the signing of former QPR winger Angelo Balanta in the aftermath of defeat at Braintree Town on Saturday. Free agent Balanta, 24, has agreed a deal that will see him remain at the Memorial Stadium until the end of the season after failing to secure a move to a Football League club following a number of trial spells over the summer. Clarke had initially attempted to sign the wideman, who can also play up front earlier in the summer, said: "I am really pleased to bring Angelo to the club, he is a talented player with a good pedigree. "He can play as a left winger or a striker, and will offer us some creativity in the final third. He is a player who can unlock defences and help us create the goals we have been lacking." Balanta, who had unsuccessful spells at Crewe Alexandra and Cheltenham Town after leaving Loftus Road, is expected to go straight into the squad for tonight's Vanarama Conference clash against Wrexham at the Memorial Stadium. "I've been at a few places since leaving QPR, but things haven't worked out for me," said Balanta. "That is all in the past now and I'm pleased to have sorted my future out and am just looking to do well until the end of the season." Balanta made 25 appearances for QPR after breaking in to the team in 2007 and has also spent time out on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, MK Dons and Yeovil Town. He has scored 16 goals in 94 appearances. The kind of players the papers are linking us to are scarcely top-notch - so for us to sign them now surely would be to play them now (STILL not understanding if that's actually possible!). Come Jan, I'd expect a little better players.

From hereisthecity hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/09/09/qpr-owner-tony-fernandes-remy-rejected-newcastle-right-in-front/ QPR owner Tony Fernandes: Remy rejected Newcastle right in front of me Tim Poole The Queens Park Rangers owner says the Chelsea striker turned the Magpies down while in his presence. Tony Fernandes has revealed that Loic Remy rejected Newcastle United while right in front of him. The newly signed Chelsea striker spent last season on loan at St James' Park but returned to QPR in the summer. Late in August, however, the Frenchman swapped Loftus Road for Stamford Bridge. That was not before he rejected an approach to join the Magpies on a permanent deal, though, according to QPR owner Fernandes. Remy was reported to have rejected Newcastle last month and Fernandes has now confirmed that the 27-year-old did so - while with the Malaysian at the time. “Loic was having dinner in my house in Chester Square to renew his contract,” Fernandes told the London Evening Standard. “He is very close to me. He was loyal. He had turned down many clubs - Newcastle right in front of me. Newcastle on paper is a better club than us, a lot of French players there, bigger fan base. "Then a phone call came from Chelsea, I think [manager Jose] Mourinho. There was a face change in Loic.” Remy had also been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer, although the club later pulled out of the deal, citing that the Frenchman had failed his medical. SEE ALSO: Newly signed Chelsea striker: I was prepared to stay at QPR With Diego Costa currently out injured, 27-year-old Remy could feature for the Blues in their next Premier League clash against Swansea City. QPR, meanwhile, travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, with Alan Pardew's men facing Southampton.

From westlondonsport www.westlondonsport.com/features-comment/transfer-gossip-qpr-shelve-move-for-portugal-forward-report-claims-wls-footballQPR shelve move for Portugal forward Almeida, report claims 10/09/2014 By West London Sport QPR are reported to have shelved a move for Portugal forward Hugo Almeida. The Daily Mirror recently claimed that Rangers boss Harry Redknapp was interested in the 30-year-old after not signing a striker on deadline day. Free agents can be signed outside of the transfer window and Almeida is without a club after being released by Besiktas, but QPR have already submitted their 25-man squad to the Premier League. And TuttoMercatoWeb say Rangers’ supposed interest has been put on hold. Chelsea are reportedly interested in Barcelona’s former Manchester City youngster Denis Suarez as well as Xavier Simons – an 11-year-old currently with the Catalan club. Reports in Spain, subsequently picked up by the Daily Star, suggest Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants Suarez, 20, and that Barca are confident of keeping Simons despite Chelsea’s apparent interest. Midfielder Suarez spent two years at City but did not make a first-team appearance before moving to the Nou Camp last year. He has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge despite the fact he has just joined Sevilla on a two-year loan deal. Meanwhile, Chelsea have again been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, this time by the Express. Talksport say Chelsea want 20-year-old midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who is reportedly about to be offered a new contract by Inter Milan. And a newspaper report in Eden Hazard’s native Belgium claims Real Madrid tried to sign him from Chelsea during last month’s transfer window.

From the Daily Mail. Jermain Defoe can get the hell out of our way if he doesn't want to return, says FC Toronto president Tim Leiweke Jermain Defoe is likely to leave FC Toronto in the near future Defoe moved to the MLS this summer, but wants to return to England The 31-year-old ex-England striker is currently being paid £90,000 a week He is only six months into a four-year-deal, but is unlikely to play again Toronto president Leiweke says Defoe has not adapted well He compared Defoe to David Beckham, who 'never ran or hid' in the MLS By BEN NAGLE FOR MAILONLINE PUBLISHED: 10:53 AEST, 13 September 2014 | UPDATED: 10:15 AEST, 14 September 2014 FC Toronto president Tim Leiweke has hit out at Jermain Defoe, claiming he can 'get the hell out of our way' if he does not want to return to the MLS. Defoe, who signed for the American club six months ago on a four-year-deal, is currently being paid £90,000 a week and has played 16 matches for his new side. Despite scoring 11 goals in his time there - an impressive goals-per-game ratio - Defoe is said to be looking for a premature end to his spell in the USA, in favour of a move back to the Premier League. Jermain Defoe has not settled well into the MLS, and wants a quick return to England Deadline day moves to QPR and Leicester fell through, but the former could still be an option for Defoe Speaking at Ryerston University, Toronto president Leiweke said: 'I personally don't think Defoe will come back. I think if he doesn't want to be here you get rid of him. 'My attitude is, if you want to be here and buy into what we've been doing, let's go...I will be with you every day. If you don't want to be here, get the hell out of our way.' Defoe was linked with deadline day moves to Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City, but after both fell through the ex-Tottenham striker is said to be exploring other avenues. FC Toronto though, are in pole position when it comes to selling the want-away forward. Defoe still has three-and-a-half-years left on his deal, and his club will want to hold out until January to enable them to recoup some of their £6 million transfer fee. Leiweke was quick to compare Defoe to David Beckham, a success story of promoting the MLS around the globe. 'Has Jermain Defoe ultimately adapted as well as David Beckham did? 'David Beckham had more character, more grit, more determination than any player I've ever been around. Never once did he run, hide or fade away.'
