i don't care who it is if they're paying his wages. Exactly, we just need to move him. He is one of the players carrying his poor attitude into this season and this team doesn't need it.

Thought we weren't loaning out players. He doesn't want to play for us. HR isn't going to want him back. So why not stick to telling Fulham buy him or leave him alone. Tell Adel. If he wants to leave, he has to make other clubs think he's worth buying. Try and get a few decent performances out of him. He's the kind of player that would get bought on the final day of the transfer window.

Genoa Defender Not Interested In Queens Park Rangers Move SHARE THIS TAGS Adel TaarabtAndreas GranqvistChampionshipGenoaQueens Park RangersSerie A The agent of Genoa’s Andreas Granqvist has announced that his client has no interest in moving to Queens Park Rangers. Speculation had suggested the Swedish international could be included in a deal to take QPR’s Moroccan attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt to the Marassi. However, in comments made to Pianetagenoa1893.net, agent Dario Canovi was adamant that the player is not on his way to Loftus Road. “I don’t know anything about a possible exchange for Taarabt,” said Canovi. Canovi suggested that Rangers are not a sufficiently prestigious destination for the 28-year-old. “QPR were relegated to the Championship and that rules out the possibility of a transfer,” he continued. “Even though I haven’t spoken with Andreas, I know him well. “I don’t believe that he would want to go to a club that plays in a lower league.” The agent also added that Tony Fernandes’s wealth is not enough to persuade the Swede to ditch the Grifone for the Hoops. “It’s certainly not an economic issue. “Even if they offer more money than he’s earning currently at Genoa, he won’t accept it.” forzaitalianfootball.com/2013/08/genoa-defender-not-interested-in-queens-park-rangers-move/

Nobody's sure Taarabt is gonna perform in the PL consistently, so paying a huge transfer fee is risky. Especially for a club like Fulham. Why would anyone buy Park, Taarabt, Granero for 4, 5, 8 million when it's obvious they're not very good, and usually - they're kinda crap. Yes, they have potential etc, but you cannot afford more than a loan move based on potential. Getting rid of Samba for the same fee was a miracle.

Totally get your point but by the same token similar logic can be applied to loads of moves to the Premier League. Danny Graham, Gary Hooper, Connor Wickham etc etc. - all the time players transfer for millions of pounds to PL teams with no concrete evidence that they can perform at the top level, just evidence of a few good seasons in the leagues below. Taarabt tore apart the Championship and showed flashes in the premier league - it's still a risk, but no more risky than loads of transfers that have already happened this window. Clubs just know we are carrying damaged goods and are not prepared to take the risk when they know that we are desperate to offload people from the wage bill. I still feel like if we hang on another week or two, someone will come in with a solid offer for Taarabt.

Would be better to sell him as he has no interest in playing for us again, even if we do go back up.
To be honest, if we did go straight back up it'd be a slap in the face to the players that will have worked their asses off to have gotten us promoted if Taarabt just walks back into the lineup.
Don't want to play for us in the Championship? Fine. Go elsewhere then. But don't come running back to share the champagne if we come back up.
I would hope the club would just move these players on. I don't care how good they are. They got us relegated so if they can't be arsed to help us get back up they can go and stay gone as far as I'm concerned.

From the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23577399 QPR's Adel Taarabt set for Fulham medical ahead of loan By Jonathan Jurejko BBC Sport Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt is set to have a medical at west London rivals Fulham ahead of a proposed season-long loan move. The Morocco international, 24, wants an instant Premier League return after being relegated with QPR last season. Fulham boss Martin Jol was Tottenham manager when Spurs signed Taarabt as a teenager from French side Lens in 2007. Taarabt did not match the matchday squad for QPR's season opener, a 2-1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday. Reports claimed he was sent home from the club's pre-season training camp in Devon last month after turning up late for a training session. Taarabt has made 150 league appearances for the Loftus Road club since joining them, initially on loan, in March 2009. The move was made permanent in August 2010 and he was named as the Championship's player of the year in 2010-11 on the way to helping Rangers win promotion to the top flight. He played 31 times in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals, as the R's finished bottom of the table.

Plus, I suspect no one would pay enough for Taarabt to make it worth our while selling him what with Spurs getting 40% of the fee. I do hope they are not loaning him with an eye to bringing him back if we go up. Once gone players that don't want to play for us in the bad times should stay gone, imo.

Exactly, these players thought it would be easy to move on, but after their p*ss poor efforts last season no one is going to buy them. I don't see what is wrong with loaning them out, especially if they have time left on their contracts after the loan. If they do a good job, we can sell them and hopefully make some money. I think Park is going to be the hardest to move, we would be lucky for a free transfer. Mbia and Cesar should be able to be sold, they both did fairly well last year and Cesar's value should be up starting for Brazil. Remy could have been sold until his legal situation. As far as Harry changing his mind, he has probably just reached the point where these players are hurting the locker room. He tried playing hard ball on their sales, hoping to get permanent moves and make some money, but now he just wants them out by any means possible.

Bye Adel, good memories and all but you've been very average for a majority of the last two seasons and is still living off that Promotion season.
Best to just get rid now if he's not happy.

But I just feel there's still a line there where we shouldn't be bullied. If a club is willing to take a relative risk on him to want him for an entire year (particularly considering that Jol has been after him numerous times before) there is surely enough evidence out there to suggest that Taarabt is still worth a transfer fee. He has more baggage than most, very true, but then I also think that if it was not common knowledge that we want to offload players from the wage bill we wouldn't be getting so many loan requests. Baggage or otherwise, he's got demonstrable talent and that's got a value. Also agree that we probably won't get a transfer fee that is that attractive considering the 40% Spurs have written in to the deal. But the other side of the coin is that the alternative is him staying at QPR, still extracting a wage, but either not playing or playing with little to no motivation whatsoever. Part of me thinks that if he isn't going to get any better we missed the boat on selling him a year ago so maybe we have to cut our losses? Also agree that it would be a bad move to loan him and bring him back if we succeed - goes completely contrary to the supposed attitudes we're apparently trying to build in the dressing room. One positive of loaning him might be that he gets another crack at the premier league and Jol motivates him enough to perform - and his value rises come next Summer - where we may be able to make some money off him. That way he'll have a year of proven premier league experience under his belt, adding value.

That way he'll have a year of proven premier league experience under his belt, adding value. This is pretty much the way I see it. Most of these players are down in value. We need to sell anyone whose contract expires at the end of the season. But for the ones that run past that, I don't see a problem loaning them off. If Taarabt does well on loan his value will increase and it will be much easier to sell him, rather than taking whatever offer comes our way. The same can be said about Granero and Diakite. I don't see Taarabt coming back to open arms at Loftus Road. This is about building value, which is won't do by sitting on the bench for a good portion of the season and coming on, possibly doing well for a few games in the Championship.

Bow
What would you then do if no club did make a bid for Adel?
You have turned down loans, nobody wants to buy & you are left with him sitting in the stands(?) being paid by us, but never getting close to Harry selecting him.
I don't think that this is a far fetched scenario.

I don't think that this is a far fetched scenario. I agree - that's why I said earlier that considering it's the first week of August I wouldn't necessarily bend to a loan request now when there are 3 weeks to go in the transfer window. Like I said, putting him on loan may raise his value and/or put him in the shop window for next summer. My point is just, that with 3 weeks to go, if clubs want him then we should try and get them to commit to buy. I know we aren't in a great situation with Adel but just because we want to get players off the books doesn't mean we need to jump at every and any loan opportunity. He's a player with a lot to offer - if people want him, then try and let them make an offer. And if not - sure, loan him out. Better than him staying here in the stands earning a wage for doing sod all.

But there are other factors - such as difficult personality, lack of physicality, teamwork issues etc etc. That's for Taarabt. Granero hasn't proven anything in any league and Park is a pensioner with unclear career motives. Then there's the demand factor - nobody's fighting for Adel, in fact there's very little interest. So Fulham can afford to try him first without standing any big chance of losing him (like we did with Hooper). Graham and Hooper are players of a more reliable and predictable 'breed'... Besides Graham had a decent PL season with Swansea. Of course, the less he scores, the more risky / less valuable the transfer gets. That's why he went to Hull and that's why Taarabt is (maybe) going to Fulham - not Everton or Spurs, and not on a permanent transfer.

Taarabt signed another contract with us when we reached the Premiership I thought? I wonder if the sell-on clause still exists forever even if the player re-signs?
If it does, maybe there is one other simple but genius element to this strategy of loaning him out instead of selling him. If we sell him then Spurs get 40% of the transfer fee but it is normal business these days to charge a loan fee. Maybe in the case of Taarabt it is better for us to loan him as we get 100% of the loan fee. If we loan him out year by year until his current contract expires then we re-coup far more than if we just sold him.

But if he does well on loan he will sell for more than he would right now, his value is at a low point.

I'd still like to see Adel in the Hoops. Arry just needs to motivate him properly. We're not a top six club so any truly skilled players we can get, Barton and Adel being cases in point, are going to have floors. Personally I love 'em both.
