French international striker signs four-and-a-half year deal
After seven years in France, this is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge in the Premier League – the best League in the world."
Loic Remy
QUEENS Park Rangers have completed the signing of French international striker Loic Remy from Olympique de Marseille for an undisclosed fee.
The 26 year-old has penned a four-and-a-half year deal at Loftus Road, after the R’s agreed a club record fee for the player’s services.
Remy – who has made 17 starts for France, scoring four goals – is eligible to make his QPR debut against West Ham United on Saturday, subject to international clearance being received.
R’s gaffer Harry Redknapp has been a long-time admirer of the striker and he expressed his delight at the signing, telling http://www.qpr.co.uk: “I’m delighted to bring him in – he’s a great buy for us.
“I didn’t think we’d get him to be honest but Tony Fernandes worked ever so hard on this. He wouldn’t give up on it, and it’s great that we now have him here with us.
“He’s always been a player I’ve admired. I’ve watched him on so many occasions throughout the last few years. I actually spent three or four hours with him last year so he knew what I thought of him, and I think that was important.
“He’s quick, can score goals and makes great runs. His movement is excellent. He’s got the potential to be a really outstanding striker.”
Remy – who will wear the number 18 shirt – expressed his delight at clinching a move to Loftus Road, commenting: “Harry played a big part in me coming here. I spoke to him and Tony Fernandes at length and they made it clear they wanted me here. They gave me the right motivation to join QPR.
“I want to develop my game here. This season the objective is to stay up but beyond that we have greater objectives.
“After seven years in France, this is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge in the Premier League – the best League in the world.
“I am confident I can adapt to the Premier League. My main characteristics have taken me to the level I am at today but I am keen to keep improving in the Premier League.”

Tony Fernandes: Loic Remy was signing QPR extension at dinner before Chelsea called
TONY FERNANDES has claimed Loic Remy was signing a contract extension with QPR before Chelsea called to strike up a deal.

The Hoops were left with a huge void to fill after Remy signed for the Blues in a £10.5million deal this summer.
The goals appear to have dried up for QPR, who lost 2-0 away at West Ham yesterday.
And Fernandes has taken to Twitter to clarify the situation surrounding why Remy left QPR.
"When we lost Remy 48 hours before deadline day it was huge huge blow," the QPR chairman tweeted.

Loïc Rémy ‘too decent’ to leave QPR in late deal, says Harry Redknapp
• QPR manager hopeful buyout clause will not be triggered
• ‘I don’t think he would suddenly walk away the day before’

Loïc Rémy is “too decent a guy” to leave QPR in a move close to the transfer deadline, according to the manager Harry Redknapp, who remains confident of holding on to the France striker despite continued interest from rival Premier League clubs.
The QPR manager admitted he fears a last-minute swoop from a Champions League club but hopes the 27-year-old’s future is resolved long before the 1 September transfer deadline.
Rémy is back at QPR after a move to Liverpool broke down, with Redknapp confirming the former Marseille striker will be ready to face Hull in Saturday’s opener. “You hope that doesn’t happen,” said Redknapp of the chance a rival could poach his forward due to his £8.5m buyout clause. “But at the end of the day if he’s got a buyout clause there’s very little you can do about it, I would imagine. That would be the worst scenario.
“I don’t think he would want to do that either to us. He’s a good lad, he’s got a good relationship with the chairman. With a week to go before the window closes we all need to know where we’re going. I don’t think he would suddenly walk away the day before. I think he’s too decent a guy to do that.”
Redknapp believes Rémy would only leave QPR for Champions League football. “I sat down with him when he came back but I didn’t have to persuade him, we sat down and he just said: ‘Look, I’m back, I want to play, I’m here,’ ” said Redknapp. “So unless something comes up Champions League or something massive for him, he would like to stay here and play.
“And he’s shown that attitude every day on the training ground. I couldn’t have asked for more from him. He’s been great, he’s worked hard, he’s done his running, he’s got himself fit, he’s a proper professional and that’s all you can ask.
“There have been several clubs that have rung up about him, in the Premier League, but I don’t think that they would be clubs that he would particularly want to leave QPR for. “We hope Loïc will stay, he’s a fantastic player and his attitude since he’s been back has just been absolutely first-class.
“I’m not trying to sell him because we don’t want to sell him. For me really, he should be a £20m striker, in comparison to others that are getting sold for £12m. To have lost him for the amount that we were going to, he would have been too cheap.
“When I looked at what he was going to go for to Liverpool, it was a fantastic buy at that money. So their loss is our gain, I think.”

ONY FERNANDES
Exclusive - QPR chief Fernandes on Remy: 'Liverpool's loss is our gain'
By Alex Varney (@lexvarney) | Wednesday, August 13, 2014
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is 'optimistic' Loic Remy will remain a Hoops player this season.
After spending last season on loan at Newcastle, the France international had been expected to move on permanently this summer.
But he is still on the books at Loftus Road after a proposed move to Liverpool fell through at the last minute, and Fernandes is hoping it stays that way.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the west London club's Malaysian owner said: “It is Liverpool’s loss and our gain.
"I have a special relationship with Remy from playing FIFA with him and I hope to continue playing FIFA 15 with him throughout the season!
"Nothing is ever cast in stone in football, but I am moderately optimistic Remy will be wearing the Hoops' shirt throughout this season.”
Rangers, promoted via the Championship play-offs last season, mark their Premier League return by welcoming Hull City to Loftus Road on the opening day of the season on Saturday.
Fernandes admits QPR's last experience of the top-flight was an 'unmitigated disaster', but he insists they have learned the lessons of the 2012/13 campaign, when they were relegated despite spending huge sums on big-name players.
Jordon Mutch, Steven Caulker and Rio Ferdinand have arrived at Loftus Road this summer, and Fernandes feels, unlike last time, Harry Redknapp has the right type of characters in his squad for the club to survive.
“We didn’t go enough research [ahead of the 2012/13 season],” he conceded. “We just looked at the player, looked at his experience and assumed he had the right character, assumed he would gel with other people, assumed he would put in 100 per cent, and obviously it was an unmitigated disaster.
“This time we have really looked at the character. We have looked at whether the character will work with other players, we have looked at whether the player will add value to our squad, or be a passenger.
“If you look at the transfers brought in, I think we have done a pretty good job. Time will tell, obviously, but we think we have been smarter in what we have done this time around.”

QPR ‘were left in the lurch’ by Remy move
Loic Remy of Chelsea
29/09/2014
By West London Sport
Harry Redknapp has again insisted that events before the transfer window closed have caused QPR’s poor start to the season.
The Rangers boss has previously claimed that the departure of some of last season’s squad, poor fitness levels among those who were subsequently brought in, a pre-season campaign he was unhappy with and Loic Remy’s move to Chelsea have all contributed to his woes.
And he again bemoaned his lack of attacking options in the wake of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Southampton.
Redknapp had said he as confident Remy would not leave shortly before the deadline
Redknapp was confident Remy would not leave shortly before the deadline
He said: “It’s going to be hard, it’s not going to be easy. We got left in the lurch a little bit at the start of the year.
“We came back with 12 players and we had to go and get some reinforcements in. Okay we got stronger in midfield, but then suddenly we lose Remy on the Saturday before the transfer window [closed] and we couldn’t get anyone else in.
“It’s left us a little bit short up front. We haven’t got a lot of striking options really.
“You’ve got Charlie Austin, Bobby Zamora and the little boy [Eduardo Vargas] can play wide or up there, but we’ve probably lost 16 goals when Remy went.”
Rangers, beaten in all four of their away matches this season, face Redknapp’s former club West Ham at Upton Park on Sunday.

Tony Fernandes: Loic Remy was signing QPR extension at dinner before Chelsea called
TONY FERNANDES has claimed Loic Remy was signing a contract extension with QPR before Chelsea called to strike up a deal.
By Charles Perrin
The Hoops were left with a huge void to fill after Remy signed for the Blues in a £10.5million deal this summer.
The goals appear to have dried up for QPR, who lost 2-0 away at West Ham yesterday.
And Fernandes has taken to Twitter to clarify the situation surrounding why Remy left QPR.
"When we lost Remy 48 hours before deadline day it was huge huge blow," the QPR chairman tweeted.

In a further tweet, he posted: "Yeah I can pull out a striker in 24 hours .we tried hard with borini. So pls tell me me what you would have."
