Its only two games in but i've seen enough in past seasons to allow me to worry that we are in trouble this season. Not panicking, i dont panic, just worried for my club. Me, no i,m not panicking, the only think that worries me, is that I have started drinking my 4penny dark out of a pannakin.

Might I just say - a result from an "Away" game!

It was an awful game, but we deserved a point if only because Norwich wern't good enough to win. The only time I thought we were in danger of them scoring a second goal was the Snodgrass header.
Plus points were the performances of Ferdinand (outstanding) & Park. Fabio improved greatly after thirty minutes & overall the defence were a lot sounder than last week.
I know it was only for ten minutes but prior to their goal we were stroking the ball about & looked far superior. However, Diatike looks to be lacking match fitness & Mackie was in his running into a brick ball mould.
At the time we were very surprised that a penalty had been given but having seen it on MOTD it was not in doubt. Stonewall.
I left the ground knowing that we can improve but having doubts that Norwich can. They have a very hard season in front of them.
Why we did not bring Johnson & Taarabt on for Cisse & Mackie is beyond my understanding. Equally I can't understand why Norwich took off Jackson who I thought was their best player.

I'm not worried about Norwich. We have our own problems to deal with. I hope we can improve because if not then we genuinely will be relegation fodder.

First post on here albeit viewing site for a while.
Could well turn out to be a good point boggy team and all that. Re the game, thought Norwich were there for the taking and would like to have seen SWP and Johnson come on for Mackie and Cisse around the 70 minute mark.
Really need a big strong aggressive defensive midfield player, particularly if we are going to play Park in centre midfield. Diakite looks a little frightened to tackle this season so Hughes needs to get the balance in there right, not sure he has at the moment. 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 would seem to suit the players we have at the moment.
Think we will add this week hopefully Mbia or even Capoue if Arsenal are looking at Tiote, plus Cesar and a centre back and possibly a striker on deadline day. Hughes has to succeed his reputation is on the line and he is not used to failure we will be fine.

Performance or otherwise, we desperately needed at least a point to steady things and give us a platform to build on. Thought we couldn't have had much complaint if we lost 2-1 but mentality is important. This is something for the team to push on from now. At least we got something and didn't lose like we normally do up there.

If Barton wasn't banned, think Hughes would be playing him? Would you play him? Yes I think he would be playing as well , for all Joeys faults he does add steel to the midfield and plays forward passes which Cisse would be benefiting from. I think we are missing him personally.

I agree - if not Barton, a player with a similar effect. Our midfield has the potential to be great going forward but it's incredibly prone to gaps. Hughes doesn't seem to trust Derry in there for 90 minutes, seemingly bringing him in to shore things up a bit as a sub. I think deeper-lying Faurlin at good fitness to read opposition runs/channels and calmly brings things under control will help a lot when he's back.

What we really miss is Faurlin, not Barton who misplaces every other pass

Hello Ricky, welcome to the board, you are correct about him not finding the balance, I doubt he will. Just hope he stumbles on it again through injuries / suspensions.

Good day out but the game was grim. Overall I thought a point was fair.
What did Hansen say Baz?

How we played is my concern. Not putting passes together and turning over cheap possesion, by-passing midfield so the ball keeps coming back, riding your luck and basic team shape especially the full backs too far from our centre halves against there wingers. If you want to stop Holt, stop his supply for instance. All very well but not a good long term recipe for attaing points in this league.
As Ive said before team selection and tactics are what its now all about Mr Hughes nothing else

we got the players just playing em wrong.
when you looked at the line ups our team before game looked very strong but
in game were embarrassing .
something wrong somewhere because we got em in early enough which
suggests they were the players we wanted so it is not as though they
were panic bought like last summer.

Will just take a while for them to get used to Sparky's game plan. Over here in OZ I follow a team called the Fremantle Dockers in Aussie Rules. They changed coach in the off season and for the first third of the season they were very average, then they adjusted to the new game plan and they are now one of the form teams of the competition. Just give it some time and I'm sure things will be better.
