I think Radek's a good shot stopper but he's awful on crosses - he seems completely unable to catch or take a cross. To be fair he's quite good at sort of palming them away but that puts a lot of pressure on the full-backs to tidy up. Has there ever been a bad Polish keeper.... surely we could pick one up from the Ekstraklasa for peanuts.
I have read that Green is a "keeper with international pedigree" that is most likely because there is no one else around. He was England's Number 1 until a clanger lost him that position. Fills me with dread and the opposition with confidence. No team can survive a whole season with a keeper that makes frequent mistakes. We really have not improved our keeper at all and having sat two rows behind him never heard one bit of communication with his back four or even berating them for any of the goals either. He may have a decent game here and there but make no mistake we were doing ok until that howler and no keeper should get beaten by the shot for the first goal on saturday.
What worried me about Green is the fact that he let in goals which maybe he could of saved So he didn't exactly drop clangers, he just looked a poor keeper

That's actually about as accurate description as you can get. basic mistakes that schoolboys make. sure he pulls off the odd great save that gets applauded but conceding a goal through schoolboy type errors is unforgivable in the Premier League and they most certainly will cost us a lot of points. The man is 31 and these have haunted him for years. There is obviously a flaw in his game and are 'we" prepared to gamble points away on it??
OK Green made silly errors, but so did Paddy Kenny when we started out last season.
It's Green's first premiership game as well as his new club so double pressure there. I know Green will be disappointed more than anyone, but I say give the guy a break. Already we're looking for scapegoats and kicking the boot in. What's that going to achieve? Nada.
So you say Green makes 10 mistakes a season well prehaps he was just getting most of them out the way in 1 game. To be honest im more worried about our total lack of defensive quality and shape.
Have been watching this post with much mirth. One game into the new season. I remember sitting watching Lee Harper. I'd take Green anyday.
If we had lost 1-0, I think we would have been less vocal - especially if it was not because of a blunder. But to let in 5 - 2 of which he had not chance of saving, it irked us heaps.
When goalkeepers' confidence goes it's more easily notiable and more unforgiveable by fans than field players. I only need to look back to last season and the fate of this poor bastard. Two years earlier he was voted Blackpool's Player Of The Year. It was due to an injury that lost him his first team place and eventual release by the club. Football can be very cruel sometimes.
1st goal was a blunder but as for the other 4 Green was left so exposed by our shocking defending i do agree though you'd maybe expect an england keeper to have got to 1 or 2.
I started this thread so maybe I can add a little bit more into it. A friend of mine is currently playing for QPR and he trains with Rob Green every single day and was also on the Tour of Germany, I reckon his insight is probably better than all of ours and he said he's ....wait for it....... SHOCKING. Enough said.

How true this is I do not know!
Someone told me yesterday that they had a chance to catch up with Paldini and said the squad are dismayed as to why we signed Green and the squad numbers have upset a few.
He was left with notion that its not a V happy camp. This person also said he felt "Paladini" still had a gripe with QPR , so there could be a sense of "Fark QPR ".
The FIRST thing management should have done has gone out and gotten the best older international keeper money could buy (2/3 year playing potential) and as well, went out and obtained the best goalkeeper prospect (that would be ready to play in 2/3 years)
Not sure what the attraction was to green.
A top-flight international keeper is always going to upset backline chemistry in the short term, but in the long-term, it would be better. QPR needs to focus FIRST on defense to stay up.
And I am a favorite of the "run and gun" soccer approach.

The ghost of ric roc
Unless this is a joke or i'm missing something, do you think your QPR playing friend would want his views that his own keeper is terrible being posted around the websites? Doesn't bother me you posting it, but wouldn't want you or him to get in trouble.

Well Gianni's "Boy" has pretty much endorsed the current regime and signings
"They were careless people...they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back to their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made."
And we didn't just stumble onto Green. It was a fairly lengthy pursuit. And Green's Qualities and Liabilities are pretty-well known.

we got Green because he was "free". I asked on here about a week ago, whom did fans on here rate as the best goalkeeper in the world. We should have been looking in Germany and Spain and eastern europe IMHO. Englsih goalkeepers have to be honest, sucked since Seamen joined Arsenal, although City's boy is pretty good out of a sad bunch.
