WEST LONDON SPORTQPR believe they have pipped Newcastle to Hoilett deal
12/07/2012 by West London Sport QPR could find out later today if they have managed to beat Newcastle to the signing of Blackburn Rovers winger Junior Hoilett.
Both the Magpies and Rangers have made offers to Hoilett, who is leaving Ewood Park now his contract has expired.
Rovers will be entitled to compensation unless they accept a deal for the Canadian who, at 22, cannot move on a Bosman free transfer.
Rangers’ former Blackburn boss Mark Hughes and his staff rate Hoilett highly and identified him some time ago as a possible summer signing.
German side Borussia Mönchengladbach have been in pole position to sign Hoilett but now appear reluctant to meet his wage demands, and QPR believe they are well placed to capture him.
The club have also held talks with the agent of Celtic’s Korean star Ki Sung-Yueng,

If he chooses us then we know it is purely for the money, which would give me a slightly sour taste but would still be happy we signed him.

If he chooses us then we know it is purely for the money, which would give me a slightly sour taste but would still be happy we signed him. Really? Many considerations will surely play a part in his thinking and why is this transfer any different to any other whereby you can say that the only factor in his decision is the pay packet? That will play a huge part, along with everybody else in every single profession, but why are other players afforded the benefit of the doubt, in terms of being here because they want to play for us, but in this case that doesn't come into it? Only on the basis of how it's being reported? Very few players ever play for the team they want to, in most cases meaning whom they support. It's so rare that K Gallen has been afforded legend status by some solely because of it. I'm sure Hoilett is weighing up all his options, as a Canadian I'd be surprised if he has any real affinity with any club and simply because he's looking to maximise his potential wealth, as he is entitled to in his profession, just like all the other players, don't let that leave a bad taste in your mouth down to how the media are reporting it. How does this contrast in your mind as to how Adel tried to angle himself a move away the last two pre-seasons, even admitting that when the last season started his mind was in Paris and as such came back slow and overweight yet still expected to start every game? At least Hoilett is sorting this out now and giving himself a settled pre-season allowing him to perform to his best ability once the season starts and thus actually try and earn the money he is reported to be looking for. I can't wait for this to happen. Sod off Newcastle, my self imposed ban on shopping at Sports Direct will continue for the foreseeable future.

The reason I say that is because both of his other options are more appealing than us, even with the ambition we have shown this summer. Borussia Moenchengladbach can offer him good wages with Champions League football, he speaks German himself and his younger brother already plays in Germany. I see no reason apart from money to turn them down.

2 obvious reasons he'll sign for BMG
a) His brother plays for FSV Mainz 05 b) BMG have to play a qualifier against a team like Motherwell (or equivalently bad) to qualify for the Champions League

Doesnt he have more family over in Germany as well as just his brother i thought?

Borussia Moenchengladbach can offer him good wages with Champions League football, he speaks German himself and his younger brother already plays in Germany. I see no reason apart from money to turn them down. Can Borussia Moenchengladbach offer him first team football each week, long term financial security with a long contract with various take up offers, a better bonus structure, clauses allowing him to leave if they fail to get Champions League football in the season after this one? Can we? Are we doing so in order to compete? I just feel that there are too many different deciding factors in such a decision that it's unfair to reach a conclusion that effects how you view his outcome based solely on one inferred factor. Being Canadian I expect he has a decent grasp of French as well. Would that make a French team more attractive than us, if that's the case, going by your logic? I'd counter he speaks English as well and so each team in this case is equally attractive as far as speaking the native language is concerned. Speaking German doesn't make Borussia more likely, rather they are on equal terms with us in that respect. Maybe he's playing all three teams off against each other. Perfectly sensible thing to do in order to up his wages.

You really want him, don't you Mark! How about this for a theory, we were using our interest in him, to get Adel to hurry up and sign

Certainly showing our intent in the transfer market influenced Adel, but why Hoilett, is Park, Green and Johnson not a good enough a show of intent for him? ;D

My assumption would be that if BMG are prepared to pay him the 50k he wants then he will start week in / week out as they aren't particularly rich and wouldn't throw this kind of money around for a player to sit on the bench.

Give him what he wants and buy his brother as well, if that will help! Hopefully his desire to play for England one day will help persuade him to stay in the EPL with us.

I will be very happy if we sign Hoilett & I think that if he stays in England it will be with us.
This is a big move for him & he is right to talk to all interested parties & to take his time before making his decision.
If he decides to go elsewhere this will be no slight on Rangers but because he considers a different club to be the right move for himself.

I can't explain why but I have a bad feeling about this guy. I rather doubt we will get him but if we do then I will be happy to be proved wrong.

If only he'd chosen Borrusia!
Although, in fairness to him he was the one with the, albeit accidental, assist for THAT goal!

Junior Hoilett is just another name on the long list of players, who have arrived at W12 and died.
