No I never went to a QPR game for obvious reasons but after watching 80% of QPR's games live on telly and being able to catch up on ther ones that were missed soon afterwards, I think I have enough info to base my thoughts on the 2011/12 season.
So here goes;
My QPR Player of the Season
Clint Hill - not overly spectacular but very consistent in avery inconsisent QPR season - and it's hard to believe he was sent out on loan to Forest.
Special mention
Welcome back Jamie Mackie - THAT goal vs Liverpool and THAT header vs City will remain long in the memory.
Most perculiar player
It has to be one Mr Cisse - spent 7 weeks on supsension, was sent off twice and scored in every other game that he played. He was even able to celebrate his goal at Stamford Dump into something more than just a consolation in a 6-1 drubbing.
Worst player
Well it has taken over a decade but at long last Zelic, Hateley, Jones & Sheron can welcome another member to their club of worst ever players to don the hoops. Stand forward and accept your award SWP - selfish, useless and doing a good impersonation of a headless chicken on the pitch. Quite possibly the worst QPR signing of all time.
Special mention - Dyer after just 5 mins.
Prat of the year.
Joey Barton - easily. His performance at Man City was the lowlight of what has been a poor and disappointing season. Capable of good things when he puts his mind to it but that happened far too little. Simply not worth all the BS that he brings to a club.
Special mentions
Paladini, Ecclestone & Briatore
Mark Clattenberg.
Best goal - Tommy Smith vs Wigan just edges out Adel's 2 goals vs Arsenal & Spurs.
Best goal outside of QPR - Peter Crouch vs Man City.
Most important goal - Cisse's last minute winner vs Stoke (just as Morrison equalised for West Brom at Bolton).
Most satisfying result - Has to be THAT 1-0 win vs Chelscum. Nothing spectacular, nothing great but hell what a result and what a statement by the fans.
Performances under Neil Warnock
Best performance - 3-0 at Wolves and, despite losing, that 2-3 defeat at home to Man City
Worst performance - QPR 0 Bolton 4 - but even worse was that 6-0 demolition at Foolham.
Most frustrating performances - failure to beat West Brom and then losing to Norwich.
Surprise result - winning 1-0 at Everton
Neil Warnock verdict
Let's be honest when he took over we were in a mess but within 18 months he had got us promoted. Even up to mid Nov he had still done well for the club but then West Brom scored that equaliser and then it went pear shaped as QPR went down the table at a massive rate.
No doubts his biggest mistake was hiring Barton and then appointing him captain. In my view that single act eventually cost him his job - as reports of him losing the dressing room started filtering out.
Still remains a legend for what he did though.
Performances under Mark Hughes
Best performance - well were do you start? It took a a while but those 5 home wins stand out but I guess I go for the 3-2 win over Liverpool.
Worst performances - 3 games stand out, 1-6 at Chelsea, 0-1 at home to Fulham and that 1-0 defeat at West Brom - with the latter a total lacklustre performance that could have sunk us. The first half at Blackburn was also a nightmare.
Most surprising result - 3-2 vs Liverpool and the manner that we turned over a 2-0 deficit. In my opinion it also gave the players the belief that yes we can stay up.
Special mention - that 3-2 defeat at City. Yes we lost and it could have ended in tears but I will never forget the heroics that our defence produced that day.
Mark Hughes Verdict
Well he was hired to save us from relegation and ultimately that is what he did. On that score he could hardly be regarded as a failure but let's not forget he had a very slow start with QPR.
whilst I agree that he deserves anotehr season with us I still think his reputatuion is bigger than his actual abilities, but let's see - if he can get us a mid table finish next season then he has my support.
Verdict on TF
Well he seems passionate about the club and there is little doubts that he has done a lot to undo the mess created by those other 3 clowns. I like him - even if I felt that some of his decisions was based on panic.
Verdict on refs
I have had very little regard for your average English Premiership ref and they didn't let me down. Look if we had gone down we would have deserved it but let's not forget some of the shocking decisions that went against us this season. Utterly inept is the best way I would describe them.
Verdict on our discpline
9 players sent off and God knows how many yellows we picked up. On average we were having a player sent off virtually every 4 games and that is unacceptable - even if some of them were doubtful. MH needs to improve that aspect as we cannot afford to have so many players sitting out games - and us losing matches that we could have won if we had 11 on the pitch.
Verdict on the fans
At away matches - magnificent
At home matches - at times was poor but I thank those high ticket prices at the start for that - but certainly made their presence felt in the end - and Chelsea must still be wondering what hit them in October.
Overall score 9/10
Key players for next season - Taarabt & Cisse
Oh and something worth mentioning - we actually won a FA Cup tie this season.
