Why not loan out the likes of DJ Campbell, Smith, Young, Hulse, Hogan & Bothroyd as they unlikely make the the final 25 man squad??!! OK not ideal but would at least have some of there wages paid by other clubs!!?? While I'm on the subject can anyone remind me of the players who they think are now surplus to requirments & won't be in the 25 man squad because there are so many I've lost count!!!

Yay, another one happy to pick up wages whilst rotting away in the reserves. The excesses of the Paladini era do verily come back to bite us upon the arse. whats paladini got to do with smith? he played his part last season as cover, always gave a good performance and sometimes contributed in crucial wins. not saying he is going to be good enough for our 25, but maybe some players still think they can offer something. he has one year left on his contract, and if his reasons are to coin it in until then , well, he deserves it. someone has to be in the bleeding reserves.

Maybe no DJ Deal (Bluffing?) www.hamhigh.co.uk/sport/football/blackpool_unlikely_to_sign_qpr_s_forgotten_man_1_1478657Ham & High Blackpool unlikely to sign QPR’s forgotten man Friday, August 10, 2012 Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has conceded that he is unlikely to sign QPR’s forgotten man DJ Campbell. The Tangerines have been linked with the 30-year-old, who left Bloomfield Road for west London. “I don’t want to tell our fans that we might get DJ Campbell back. I don’t think there’s a chance in a million at the moment of doing that, because of his club, what they’re looking for and how much they’re paying him at the moment,” Holloway told BBC Radio Lancashire. “He’s got another couple of years on that so does he need to take a cut or go backwards? I don’t think so. Will they pay him some of the rest of the money? I don’t think so. “Why should he lose out? Whether they want him or not, they have to honour the contract. It’s nobody else’s fault other than what QPR decided to pay him when they took him on.”

Loan Ranger: Blackpool set to hijack Fleetwood's move for QPR bad boy Joey Barton Emile Heskey has also rejected an offer of £90-a-week plus bonuses to sign for the Seasiders Oh I do like to be beside the seaside: Joey Barton could be set for a loan move to Blackpool Joey Barton is on the verge of a season-long loan move to Blackpool – who want to get one over rivals Fleetwood Town. The QPR bad boy, who has been banned for 12 matches, was all ready to join the League Two newcomers last month. But Rangers have now been approached by the Tangerines regarding a temporary switch, and the Championship side are attracted by the idea of beating the Cod Army to the midfielder. Barton was punished by the FA after his red card and pitch rampage at Manchester City on the final day of last season. A loan move to Fleetwood, with their busy fixture list, could have eaten up Barton’s ban by the end of September – it will carry on until November if he remains at Rangers. But a loan move to Ian Holloway’s play-off losers now looks on the cards, with Barton open to joining the Seasiders. Are you having a laugh? Emile Heskey has rejected a £90-a-week offer from Blackpool Neville Williams Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Blackpool had offered Emile Heskey the chance to train with the club – with a view to a £90-a-week plus bonuses deal – only to be turned down by the former England international from the outset. It is not the first time that such a deal has failed to land the northwest club a big-name signing, after Robbie Fowler rejected a similar pay offer back in March. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/blackpool-boss-ian-holloway-set-1247914

I hate to criticize Gianni...!
I think we have to divide between last season's signings when just took over and this summer. Most of the summer signings are not lengthy contracts - and they're for hopefully better players
The other BIG thing re the Paladini era was so many players come (many on loans) and were apparently brought to us by agents rather than picked by the manager.
For the most part - (Park maybe different) these are Hughes and his team selections

Park is different. Fernandes has gone on record to say that he took the idea of Park to Hughes, but that Hughes had the final say. It was featured in a very interesting video that I posted yesterday that no one has commented on *sob*

Smith did indeed play his part. I thought he came in the Paladini era? My point was that players like Smith, who will probably not make the 25 man squad are somewhat deluded in hanging around using the old, well worn 'I'm going to stay and fight for my place' tag line. Bothroyd is another one who's recited that classic in the last few weeks as well. Yes, they signed a contract and we have to honour it, but I would prefer it if they just said, "I'm on good money here and so the team can go and screw themselves if they think I'm taking a pay cut to go somewhere else where I'll actually play every week." That is all.

That is all. Imagine if everyone told the truth in newspaper quotes like in that film Liar. Tony and Cherie Blaire's would be an eye opener. I recon Smith deserves a bit of slack here and not be tarred with the same brush..

Agree re "the same brush" I think because of so many past poor signings, we've become more "impatient" - Some deals work. Some don't - Or someone like Tommy Smith. He WAS a good signing - and he did his bit to get out of the Championship. He just may not be quite good enough for Prem.
And the Vine and Borrowdale and Agyemang in particular - all staying on and on and on and - Especially the first two - even with various loan deals but never agreeing to move on...

KI doesnt sound done and dusted and at Loftus Road... Goal.com Celtic midfielder Ki plays down Arsenal rumours The Bhoys star is adamant he is unaware of reports linking him with a move to north London after helping South Korea win Olympic bronze against bitter rivals Japan 10 Aug 2012 23:21:00 By Liam Twomey at the Millennium Stadium Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng insists he knows nothing of stories linking him with a move to Arsenal. The 23-year-old, labelled South Korea's answer to Steven Gerrard in his homeland, has been the outstanding performer as his side surpassed expectations to win bronze in the London 2012 Olympic football tournament. Reports this week had suggested the Gunners were preparing a £9 million bid for the tireless playmaker, who is also believed to be the subject of interest from last season's Europa League winners Atletico Madrid. But, after producing another polished display to help his country see off bitter rivals Japan in a hotly contested third-place playoff at the Millennium Stadium on Friday evening, Ki revealed he is not aware of any interest. "I'm not sure," Ki told reporters. "I haven't heard anything about that. "I just need some rest now and spend some time with my family, and then I will think about my future." The Celtic star also admitted he was delighted to claim a victory which not only secures him and his team-mates an Olympic medal, but also grants them exemption from military service in South Korea. "This is the happiest moment of my life," he added. "We were very tired after the quarter-final, but our mentality to win the game was very strong. "Normally we pressure in front of the centre circle, but we were tired tonight. "We weren't fresh enough to play that way, so we dropped down a little bit, but we still had quick players up front to hit them on the counter-attack. www.goal.com/en-gb/news/4433/2012-olympics/2012/08/10/3299744/-"Military service was something we were all going to have to do, and we are all glad to avoid it, because it means we can play in Europe for longer. It was a big motivation, definitely."

FRANCE | FOOTBALL | LIGUE1 ASSE: It moves to Zouma! THE SPORT 10 | 10/08/12 | 8:50 p.m. Kurt Zouma, the young defender of AS Saint-Etienne currently attracting many lusts. These days, the ASSE was contacted by the Queen's Park Rangers, definitely very active in the French market. The English club said he had a budget of more than 10 million euros for Zouma and wanted to know the intentions of the Greens. A priori, the leaders want to absolutely keep Etienne Zouma this year. They would not open the door. City, MU and Juve should supervise against Lille Several major European clubs also continue to closely monitor the performance of the young central defender Etienne. Manchester City , Manchester United and Juventus, in particular, are working closely on his case. The three clubs should also send emissaries to Geoffroy Guichard tomorrow to supervise at the opening of the season against Lille. It is not impossible that the club receives forézien concrete proposals by the end of August. alexandre.higounet @ le10sport.com Find all the news of our partners by clicking on the links below. Ok from reading various Greek sports newspapers Katidis hasnt travelled home with Aris from their friendlies and from what i understand he isnt in the plans of the manager as i think he knows he is on his way out. We are the most likely destination just some monetary adjustments with his bonus and he should be a hoop. My opinion of him being a Greek is that he is in the top 3 young prospects currently coming out of Greece. He capatines the Under 19 squad all the way to the final (beat England in the semi-final so most of you guys wouldve seen him play there). Was the main catalyst for the squad and broke into the Aris starting 11 last year. Likes to play the number 10 role, but can also defend. Tall, fast, strong and a leader, so can virtually play anywhere in the midfield. Weve witnessed just a taste of what Vellios did at Everton and he only cost a mere 150K. I personally will buy all 3 kits with Katidis on the back because it really couldnt get any better being a QPR fan. So all in all after watching him for almost a full season last year in the super league i think hes going places and if we do sign him he can easily be Faurlin's predecessor... Heres praying the first ever Greek signs for QPR, you guys wont hear the end of it
