Maybe no Anelka! Goal.com/By Ben Somerford Nicolas Anelka says he will play out his career at Shanghai Shenhua The 33-year-old French striker quelled speculation linking him with Premier League pair QPR and West Ham and insisted he'll finish his playing career in China The 33-year-old, who has recently been linked with Premier League duo QPR and West Ham, has had an indifferent time in China since joining Shanghai on a two-year deal last December. Anelka has only scored two goals for struggling Shenhua, whilst battling injury and leadership instability - having been given a coaching role following Jean Tigana's sacking before it was handed to Sergio Batista shortly after - as well as a spat with a fan last week. However, Anelka dispelled rumours of his departure from China when he told the Oriental Sports Daily he was committed to the club for the rest of his playing career and excited by the imminent arrival of former Chelsea team-mate Didier Drogba. "I won't go back to the Premier League. If one day I leave Shenhua, it will be the day I retire," Anelka said. "I will never go back, although I had a good time there. But now I'm in Shenhua and this is my own decision." Drogba, who signed with Shenhua late last month, is expected to arrive in Shanghai on Friday or Saturday and Anelka said he would be boosted by the Ivorian's presence as the underperforming club try to move up the table. "I am waiting for him," Anelka said. "There were a lot of games when I was alone in front, I would think if Didier was here the situation would be better. I could pass him the ball." Shenhua are currently 13th in the Chinese Super League, one point above the drop zone, having managed only three wins and 13 goals in 16 games this term. However, Anelka was optimistic with Drogba alongside him, Shenhua can avoid relegation and move well up the table. "Although we're now at the bottom of the league, the gap with other teams is not big and we can climb up after even winning two games," Anelka said. "I am not worried about relegation. I only think if we can have a better ranking." This thread has now equalled the 43 pages of last summer . Long way to go to get to the 80 + pages of the Jan one though! Thanks to all the feeders .
Personally glad Anelka is staying dont want him at QPR.
Notice the Konchesky deal has gone quiet ? Maybe he was only a second or third choice if we couldnt get our main target . Hoping so!

Additional deal from a third party ? ;D maybe not dead yet? Buttner deal in doubt Deal to take defender to Southampton in danger of collapse By Gerrit van Leeuwen. Â Last Updated: July 10, 2012 9:35am Alexander Buttner: Deal has been agreed with Premier League new boys Southampton Alexander Buttner's proposed move to Southampton is in danger of collapse, according to his current club Vitesse Arnhem. The Saints struck a deal for the defender last week and expected the completion of his transfer to be a formality. The move has hit a stumbling block, though, with a third party having entered the negotiations. Vitesse fear talks could now break down, dashing Buttner's dreams of securing a switch to the Premier League. "The transfer of Alexander Buttner to Southampton is uncertain," read a statement released on Vitesse's official website. "Last Friday, Vitesse reached an agreement with the Premier League side for the transfer of Buttner. Demand "As Buttner had already agreed personal terms, it was expected that a medical was the only thing that could block the deal. "Over the weekend the player let us know through his agent that there was an additional demand from a third party. "Vitesse have told the player that it won't be meeting this demand, as this has arrived after talks have been completed and Vitesse refuse to be put under pressure. "Vitesse are disappointed at the current state of affairs, especially because negotiations with Southampton were opened on the demand of the player. "Southampton FC has played everything correctly and don't take any blame in the undermining of this transfer. "Vitesse have also done everything to get this deal pushed through."

In January (or last year) did we have separate threads for QPR and non-QPR transfers, or were they one?

Seems like the Buttner / Southampton deal has hit a snag over third party ownership. Good job we didnt go for him.

Yes, someone was linking to a report in the South Korean media about the story, but the translation made it even more confusing than the original Korean text.
