Ok I'm not saying anything new and very happy with signings so far but we need an injection of youth now:
Green 32 (ok not old for a goalie) Hill 33 Nelsen 34 Derry 34 Young 33 Helguson 34 Cisse 31 Cerny 38 SWP 30 Zamora 31 Johnson 31 even Barton turns 30 in Sept
that nearly 50% of the 25 man squad

Would definitely not want us to spend £10m on Moses, he is worth half that.

Another 30+ QPR line up move for Leicester City defender By Paul WarburtonJun 19 2012Add a comment Recommend inShare Share on emailShare on print QPR have Paul Konchesky in their sights as the former Fulham defender eyes a move back to London and the Premier League. The former England international was the one that got away from boss Mark Hughes just as he was lining up his Whites squad for 2010-11. Sparky thought he had inherited an established left-back, but the 31-year-old was unable to resist the lure of Liverpool and rejoined Roy Hodgson for what turned out to be the manager’s ill-fated reign on Merseyside. As soon as the current England boss was ousted from Anfield barely 31 games into the shortest stay of any Liverpool manager, Konchesky was also history. New manager Kenny Dalglish farmed him out first to Nottingham Forest, who at the time stood a realistic chance of promotion to the top flight, and then to Leicester City, ditto, same hopes – only to see neither make the final transition. Now, with the future of Taye Taiwo uncertain following the Milan defender’s loan spell, and Hughes just as likely to see Armand Traore as a left-sided midfielder, Konchesky is hopeful of finally meeting up with the Rs boss. A close source said: “Decent left-backs are hard to come by – and Paul is certainly more than a decent left-back. “He’s not had the rub of the green since joining Liverpool – but a lot of that was down to the preference of others. “With Premier League sides wanting two players for every position, he could certainly do a job at QPR.” Konchesky is one season in to a three-year deal with Leicester, and would command a near £1million fee – although Rs supremo Tony Fernandes has promised to make funds available for a raft of new signings after last season’s narrow relegation escape. Rangers are preparing to fly staff out to Poland to meet with Green and conduct his medical in the next day or so. He is a free agent after rejecting a new deal at West Ham. QPR yesterday signed Fulham striker Andy Johnson on a free, agreeing a two-year deal, and Tottenham defender Ryan Nelsen.

Reason for freebies?
I have a few theories why our first few signings are on frees (and of course free is a relative term as the agent will try and extract the saved transfer fee as signing bonus)
(A) We're skint theory....the one that is least appealing but lets face it we spent at least £20m (conservative estimate) last year on players £4M Zamora, £4m Cisse, Bothroyd/Barton's signing fee, Onuoha £2.5m, Traore £2m, SWP £2m, Ferdinand £4m, Taiwo/Diakite/Macheda loan fees, Young £2m, Campbell £1.25m. This added to the fact we put together a £6m package to bring in Hughes, £1m to pay off Warnock and buying the training ground and funding it. This has restricted the budget for the year
(B) Frees just happen quickly theory....With no fee to arrange with a club and only an agent to negotiate with frees are easier. Add to this that you don't need to wait for the other club to sort out a replacement and you have your reason
(C) Waiting for Barton theory....Clearly the decision on Barton has upto an £11m price tag associated to it and the club may need to resolve this to allow Hughes to spend that money on players
(D) Squad padding theory....the end of the year saw several players leave many of whom had been marginal but in the 25 man squad Hall/Gabbidon plus others must be marked to go Smith/Helguson/Hulse/Bothroyd/Campbell...you can't replace all of these with internationals if your not Man City so high quality, won't complain, journeymen are critical to the balance of the squad.
well that's it...I actually think that the reason is a combination of B,C,D

Just a combination of B and D really is how i see it ! Dont think Barton is in the equasion , he aint going anywhere in a hurry!

A few money signings will follow but will we break the record paid for Zamora? At least Sheron is no longer our record purchase!!!

QPR forward set to depart this summer Ian Cooper Tuesday, June 19, 2012 4:03 PM Campbell accepts his future lies away from Loftus Road Comments Email Print Got a story? DJ Campbell is in negotiations with a number of clubs as he seeks to leave QPR this summer. Campbell fell down the pecking order of forwards at Loftus Road during an injury-hit 2011-12 campaign, and his chances have further been limited by this week’s arrival of striker Andy Johnson from neighbours Fulham. The 30-year-old former Blackpool man has received no assurances from manager Mark Hughes over his QPR future, and has now accepted that he will have to leave in order to find regular first-team football. I had a feeling we would only keep one of Helguson ,Hulse,DJ and Bothroyd and nothing has changed my mind from that fact , not sure why one Heidar or Both will be kept though?

On another message board (the message board that dares not speak its name) an 'ITK' has Bothroyd in talks with Palace. Maybe with AJ Hughes is just looking to keep HH.

What makes you think that though?? Tony has said there are funds available and they have just spent £13m on a new training ground. I can't see Hughes sticking around if we were skint.
