3RD December 2005 Stoke City 1 QPR 2 Richard Langley's second half penalty earned the Superhoops all three points at the Britannia Stadium. Furlong had given the away side an early lead only to see Bangoura level proceedings. Stoke played the majority of the second half with 10 men after Halls was sent off for the penalty incident, but nothing can be taken away from Rangers as they secured an excellent win. Article continues Advertisement Rangers made two changes from the team that drew with Hull City.Stefan Moore replaced the injured Kevin Gallen and Marcus Bean came in for Ian Evatt. Milanese joined skipper Dan Shittu in the centre of defence and Lloyd Dyer moved back to left-back. With the first attack on the game Paul Furlong put the Superhoops 1-0 up.Dan Shittu shot from range, his shot was blocked at the edge of the area and Paul Furlong blasted home with his right boot from eight yards. Furlong Dave Brammer was booked for a late tackle on Richard Langley after 10 minutes as Rangers frustrated the home side. Rangers were close to making it 2-0 when Furlong's through ball was just too far ahead of Gareth Ainsworth and Simonsen in the Stoke goal raced out of his box to clear. Royce was at full stretch after 14 minutes after Chadwick's deep cross evaded the away defence. Royce palmed it away from danger as Stoke looked to get a foothold in the game. Former Rangers target Mamady Sidibe burst down the right on 18 minutes, his pace taking him away from Lloyd Dyer but his cross was blasted away by Dan Shittu. Bangoura completely misjudged a header on 19 minutes. Stokes pacy hitman was unmarked six yards from goal but his header was wayward. Milanese was booked after 22 minutes as the home crowd grew louder and more agitated. Stoke drew level under controversial circumstances after 25 minutes. Richard Langley gave away a free kick after quite clearly winning the ball. The ball was played into the box and Sam Bangoura headed home from six yards. Gareth Ainsworth was booked on 42 minutes for an off the ball incident as Langley prepared to take a corner. Rangers though had come back into the game after being under severe pressure for a 20 minute spell. Stoke's first meaningful attack of the second half saw Marcus Bignot produce a miraculous stop. Sidibe ran down the right and his low cross was hooked away from goal from the Rangers right back. Rangers then won a penalty.Furlong was brought down by John Halls, the ball went on the spot and Halls went to the dressing room. For the second consecutive season Stoke City were down to ten men. Richard Langley stepped up to the spot and his right footed shot flew into the top corner. The goal was Langley's first since returning to the club. lANGLEY Marcus Bean was booked after 56 minutes. His late lunge earned him a yellow card. Stoke hit the post on 58 minutes.Duberry's header hit the inside of the post but the linesman had flagged for offside. Rangers then made a substitution. Ian Evatt replaced Lloyd Dyer as QPR changed to a 4-5-1 formation. Milanese moved to left back, Moore moved to left midfield and Rowlands moved into the centre. Rangers were playing on the break and Ainsworth nearly saw his deflected shot make it 3-1.He was released on the right by Richard Langley and his shot almost beat Simonsen at the near post but the ex-Everton stopper parried the ball out for a corner. Dan Shittu limped off after 73 minutes and was off the field for a couple of minutes before returning to the action. The big defender had his thigh heavily strapped and was limping heavily. Bangoura tried an overhead kick on 79 minutes but it was comfortable for Royce. Sidibe missed a guilt edged chance seconds later when he headed wide despite having the goal at his mercy. Langley then had a great chance at the other end.He cut in from the left hand side and his right foot shot curled wide of the far post.It was a similar effort to Kevin Gallen's goal at Derby County. Gareth Ainsworth was replaced by Lee Cook on 88 minutes and Rangerswere now content to eat up the clock. On 90 minutes young Shabazz Baidoo replaced Stefan Moore as the clock ticked ever so slowly towards full time. The final whistle went and the Rangers fans rejoiced. There was an unsavoury incident when a Stoke fan came onto the pitch and attacked Simon Royce. The Rangers stopper seemed okay, if a little shaken, as he then went to celebrate in front of the ecstatic away support.

Stoke City v QPR – Match Preview Date: 17th November 2011 at 12:30 pm Written by Jak Penny Follow this writer
Two teams who have never met in a Premier League fixture go head-to-head at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday with Stoke desperate to halt a run of three successive defeats against QPR.
It’s been a testing month and a half for Tony Pulis and his men who have seen their Europa League campaign catch up with them with detrimental results.
Despite results in Europe appearing positive their domestic campaign is faltering with the Potters managing to win only one of their last eight since beating West Brom at the Hawthorns at the end of August.
Since then it’s been a mixture of disappointing defeats and mundane draws with their exploits on the continent taking the sting out of their performances on home soil.
Consistency has been a problem with Pulis’ policy of rotating his squad to keep his players fresh not working as well as he’d hoped with players failing to get a long enough run in the side to strike up an accord with the rest of the side.
Summer signing Peter Crouch has failed to have the desired impact with the England striker playing up front with the likes of Cameron Jerome, Jon Walters and Kenywyne Jones during the course of this season.
Stoke’s game is built on pressurising their opponents and using their supreme physical advantages to intimidate and terrorise to bully teams into submission. But their European exploits have left them looking jaded and unable to but their game plan into action.
Their 3-1 defeat at home to Newcastle and 5-0 hammering away at Bolton saw the Potters out battled in every area and Pulis must be wondering if the Europa League is worth bothering with if it continues to harm his teams league performance.
QPR on the other hand are enjoying a superb first season back in the Premier League following their relegation back in 1996. The R’s are sitting a place above Saturday’s opponents, albeit on goal difference, and will be confident of moving clear of them when they travel to the Potteries.
Neil Warnock’s side have picked up half of their 12 points on the road and another three points will move them firmly into the top half of the table.
The club have benefitted substantially from the investment of new owner Tony Fernandes with the likes of Joey Barton, Luke Young and Shaun Wright-Phillips giving them an extra dash of Premier League experience that they were severely lacking in the opening weeks of the campaign.
That knowledge of how to win games and overcome adversity will be key against Stoke’s bruising tactics with Barton likely to relish mixing it up in the centre of midfield. His performances since signing from Newcastle have been nothing short of superb with his fiery temper being tamed by Warnock with the odd-couple proving there is enough room in the Loftus Road dressing room for the both of them.
Despite losing the last two games one positive that has emerged form the defeats to Manchester City and Tottenham has been the goalscoring displays of Jay Bothroyd. The England striker has struggled since his summer move from Cardiff but finally broke his duck at White Hart Lane before hitting another against the league leaders a week later.
The international break killed that momentum but Warnock will need him to get back on the goal trail if they are to come away from Stoke with points under their belts.

Injury News
Tony Pulis has no new injuries to worry about with Mamady Sidibie out long-term with a knee tendon problem.
Key Player
Jon Walters - It’s been a solid year or so in Stoke colours for Walters who has become an integral part of Pulis’ side and has forged himself a reputation as a consistent Premier League performer. His work ethic and willingness to run himself into the ground for his teammates has endeared him to the Britannia faithful and the physical aspects of his game will be key to unsettling a timid QPR defence.
Match Fact
This fixture will be Stoke’s 22nd of the season and first against QPR in the Premier League. That last time these two met was in the Championship in March 2008 just a few weeks before the Potters were promoted to the top flight.

Injury News
Neil Warnock has no fresh injury concerns with Kieron Dyer, Rob Hulse, DJ Campbell and Matt Connolly all out expected to be in the treatment room for long periods.
Key Player
Shaun Wright-Phillips – The former Man City winger has seen new life breathed into his career since moving to the R’s and is benefiting from a regular run of first team football. With Stoke’s back four not renewed for being the quickest over long stretches his combination of pace and skill will be a vital component to unlocking one of the toughest defences the Premier League has to offer.
Match Fact
Rangers comfortably beat promotion hopefuls Stoke the last time these two sides met in 2008 with a Mikele Leigertwood double and a second half Akos Buzasky goal giving them a 3-0 victory at Loftus Road.

Stoke 3-1 QPR

Attendance: 11,147
Referee: Uriah Rennie
PREDICTION
Stoke have been poor of late and it seems that their Europa League campaign is catching up with them. Their last two league games has seen them concede eight goals which will have set alarm bells ringing in Pulis’ mind. The way they were brushed aside so easily by Newcastle in their last home game was extremely surprising and he’ll be demanding a much improved performance this time around. QPR have been decent on the road and will go into the game with confidence after narrowly losing against leaders Manchester City before the international break. However if the Potters are at their bruising best then Warnock’s side better batten down the hatches and prepare for an aerial assault.

You know the one thing that grates me is that almost every season you see the same clubs battling to survive in the PL , that is why I would love to see Blackburn go down along with Bolton. To my mind these clubs show little ambition in the PL and would be better off serving some time in the lower leagues.

QPR Official Site Preview BIG MATCH PREVIEW: STOKE CITY Posted on: Fri 04 May 2012 Rangers welcome Stoke City to Loftus Road on Sunday lunchtime, for what promises to be a nail-biting affair in W12. Sunday's fixture is QPR's last at home this season - and what a crucial one it is too. Victory for Mark Hughes's side is a must against the Potters, with just a solitary game to play - at title-chasing Manchester City - on the final day of the season. Rangers currently occupy 17th place in the Barclays Premier League, ahead of 18th place Bolton Wanderers on goal difference. Article continues Advertisement Many pundits believe Wigan Athletic, in 16th, and 15th placed Aston Villa are both still embroiled in the scrap for survival three points ahead of the R's, as well as Blackburn Rovers, who lie second from bottom and three points adrift of the dreaded relegation zone. Victory has never been more vital. But it won't be easy for the R's, not against a Stoke City side that, while they have little left to play for, will still be looking to end the season on a positive note. Tony Pulis's men are not in the best of form of late, especially on the road. Their last victory away from home came in the form of a 2-1 defeat of Blackburn Rovers in January. Many would argue that their involvement in this season's Europa League has taken its toll. But last weekend's point against Arsenal at the Britannia Stadium, coupled with another 1-1 draw against Everton on Tuesday night, shows that - on their day - Stoke are a force to be reckoned with. Stoke City Team News: Likely Starting XI (4-4-2) ... Begovic Huth - Upson - Shawcross - Wilson Walters - Whitehead - Delap - Etherington Crouch - Walters Player to Watch ... Peter CROUCH (Striker) The 6ft 7in striker has attracted a lot of attention during his career for his height, but offers more than just aerial ability in his roles for Club and country. A nomadic player, Peter Crouch has played for 12 teams including the R's, who he re-joined from Tottenham Hotspur in 2001 having originally started out in the youth ranks in W12. Crouch would eventually return to White Hart Lane in July 2009. An FA Cup winner with Liverpool, the tall striker failed to make a lasting impression at Anfield and first rose to prominence in Southampton's relegation season of 2005. Crouch's second stint at Tottenham was a mixed bag. His overall league record for the Club was 12 goals struck in 73 matches, one of those strikes proving valuable indeed as he netted against Manchester City to propel Tottenham into the Champions League. And his hat-trick versus Young Boys ensured Spurs competed in the group stage of Europe's premier competition. Alas, his European adventure turned sour in the knockout phase when he was sent off against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. Then, on the domestic stage, Spurs again locked horns with City as the pair battled it out for Champions League qualification. This time, however, Crouch scored an own goal to help City on their way to a third-place finish. Last summer, speculation emerged over Crouch's future, with Sunderland said to be keen. But, ultimately, Stoke landed the forward on transfer deadline day for around £10million. For England, he got his first international call-up in 2005 and did enough to cement his place at the 2006 World Cup - scoring a hat-trick against Jamaica - but, despite impressing when given the chance, he has failed to nail down a starting spot. The Numbers Game: *4 - Despite being labelled 'throw-in specialists', the Potters only scored four goals from throw-ins last season; one directly from the throw following a single touch, three from the subsequent penalty box scramble. *50 - The age that Stoke City legend Sir Stanley Matthews made his final appearance for the Potters. *1863 - Stoke City were founded in 1863 and are the oldest Club in the Barclays Premier League. *23 - Prior to the Club's promotion to the Premier League in 2008, the Potters had not participated in top-flight football for 23 years. Pre-Match Talk: QPR striker, Djibril Cisse: "It is a final for us. If we can win this game it will be a big step for us. "We have all week to prepare ourselves and what is encouraging is that our home form is really good. That is what we need to concentrate on and work on. "We must win this game, there is no other choice." Potters forward, Cameron Jerome: "We want to get as many points on the board and finish as high up the table as we possibly can this season. "The final couple of games are going to be incredibly tough for us because both QPR and Bolton are battling for their lives down at the bottom. "But we have the belief in the dressing room that we can win them, and that is what we will be looking to do." Guardian Mark Hughes seeks QPR intensity as Owen Coyle dismisses Hodgson factor • QPR face Stoke City at home before trip to Manchester City • Bolton Wanderers host West Brom before going to Stoke Share Press Association guardian.co.uk, Saturday 5 May 2012 12.43 EDT Article history QPR's Mark Hughes has expressed concern at Roy Hodgson's elevation to the England job before the end of the season. Photograph: Tony O'Brien/Action Images Mark Hughes knows that Queens Park Rangers need all three points from their game against Stoke City at Loftus Road if they are to keep their Premier League survival hopes alive: only goal difference separates the west London club from the relegation zone, with two matches remaining, the last of which is a trip to title-chasing Manchester City on Sunday week. "It is a huge game and we understand totally the significance of it," Hughes said. "Given our position and the position of the teams in and around us – and the points accrued at this point – then obviously we need to get maximum points. "It is going to be difficult because Manchester City put you under pressure and they've got good weapons. "We'll have to be able to combat that but, in fairness, if we play as well as we have in our home games against Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Swansea then we'll be fine. "With the intensity of our game and the determination that we show in our home games with the fantastic support that we have, then we have a real chance of getting maximum points, which we desperately need." QPR need to erase from their minds the 6-1 humbling at west London rivals Chelsea last Sunday, the manner of which has led to many writing off the final game at the Etihad Stadium, but Hughes is interested only in the match against Stoke – in 14th on 44 points but perhaps hopeful of finishing in the top half of the table – at the moment. "We know we have got two difficult games," he said. "Stoke, whoever they go up against, will always test you and always put you under pressure at some point in the game. "They will create chances because of the way they play and the way they approach the game. "We have got to be able to cope with that and the Man City game – which we're not really looking that far ahead, to be perfectly honest – is a different kind of test, but we will face that once we have got the Stoke game out of the way." QPR will be boosted by the return of the Morocco international Adel Taarabt after suspension, although it is yet to be seen whether Samba Diakité will be well enough to play. "Adel comes back into the picture," Hughes said. "His form, certainly at home, has been very good. He has been scoring goals again, which is important. We have the option of Adel again and apart from Samba, most of the guys are now available. "Samba has had a virus which has knocked him for six. Obviously he was very fatigued so we've been quite easy with him, tried to build him up and hopefully he will be an option at the weekend. "At the moment he is just doing light training so we're not sure if he is going to be available, but apart from him everybody else who was available last week is available." One place below QPR, in 18th, Bolton Wanderers coincidentally also face a potential decider against Stoke, in their final game of the season, but host West Bromwich Albion, who are coming to terms with the forthcoming departure of their manager, Roy Hodgson, to the England job. The effect that news may have on the Baggies – comfortably mid-table in 10th with 46 points – remains to be seen. Although Hughes has expressed concern, saying he was "a little bit disappointed", that the Football Association made a public move for Hodgson during the relegation run-in, the Bolton manager, Owen Coyle, is not convinced that Hodgson's appointment will have any bearing on West Brom's performance at the Reebok Stadium. "I don't see why it would be a hindrance," Coyle said. "I would love it to be, but I don't see why. They have the England manager now, he is an outstanding man and they have very good players. "But we have to focus on what we can do at Bolton and make sure we get to our best. If we do that, we have shown that we can win points and win games." www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/05/mark-hughes-qpr-owen-coyle

QPR Official Site
HILL: 'IT'S A MUST-WIN GAME'Posted on: Sun 06 May 2012 R's centre-half Clint Hill admits that anything other than victory against Stoke City at Loftus Road this afternoon (Sunday) could be detrimental to our survival hopes. QPR go into today's clash knowing that victory would almost certainly keep them out of the bottom three heading into the last weekend of the season. Defeat, however, could well see Rangers slip back into the bottom three - that prior to a final weekend finale at Manchester City, who currently top the Barclays Premier League table. Speaking to http://www.qpr.co.uk: Hill said: "We've got to win. "We've got to win this to have a chance of staying in the Premier League. "A draw might not be enough - we just don't know. We've got to rely on other people then to drop points and we can't afford to do that. It's a must-win game for us." However, having spent three years at the Britannia Stadium, the 33 year-old knows just how hard that will be. "We've got a difficult game against a powerful side - a well-established Premier League team," Hill explained. "I was there for a good few years and to see them where they are now is a massive achievement for them. "They've done very, very well and we know what to expect. "It's going to be tough, but we know what we need to do now. We need to win to stay in it. "It's hard to criticise when they've been in the Premier League for so long. "They've got a good system that works for them." Part of that spell coincided with Tony Pulis's current reign as Stoke boss. Hill reserved praise for his former boss, adding: "I know Tony very well from working with him and he's done a tremendous job there. "We know it's going to be difficult for us and they're going to put a lot of balls into the box, and scrap for everything. "If that's the way it's got to be, then that's how we've got to defend and hopefully win the game." Rangers were on the end of a disappointing 6-1 defeat at Chelsea last weekend, with Fernando Torres bagging a hat-trick. This weekend, former Rangers forward Peter Crouch returns to the place where it all began in his professional career. And Hill admits that QPR must deal with the threat of Crouch better than they did with fellow forward Torres last Sunday, concluding: "He's a good player. Everyone looks at his height, but his touch is fantastic. "The way he can bring people into play and hold the ball up is second to none. "You don't get to be an England international if you haven't got a decent touch. It's going to be a hard game for us. "You try and learn from these things. Now we're up against Peter Crouch, Kenwyne Jones and Jon Walters - they're all top-quality international players. That's what you get in this league. "Hopefully we can try and respond to it a little bit better than we did last weekend. "We know what we need to do and hopefully we'll get the right result." www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2760210,00.html?

Our First Home Game outside the Championship - back in Division Three was against Stoke BBC - Saturday, 11 August, 2001, QPR 1-0 Stoke Andy Thomson's 23rd-minute strike was enough to give QPR a 1-0 win over promotion candidates Stoke City on their return to Division Two. Rangers - in their first game in the third tier of the league since 1967 - got off to the start manager Ian Holloway would have wanted. Thomson struck a sweet shot from the edge of the penalty area following Stuart Wardley's pass, to leave Gavin Ward helpless in the Stoke goal. Rangers dominated the game and could well have added to their tally against a Stoke side who had four players booked. Thomson, Marcus Bignot and Steve Palmer all went close but in the end Holloway had to settle for the 1-0 victory. QPR: Day, Forbes, Ben Askar, Palmer, Bruce, Perry, Bignot, Bonnot, Connolly, Thomson, Wardley. Subs: Bull, Rose, Griffiths, Warren, Koejoe. Stoke: Ward, Thomas, Handyside, Shtaniuk, Clarke, Gudjonsson, Vandeurzen, O'Connor, Hoekstra, Thorne, Cooke. Subs: Cutler, Iwelumo, Thordarson, Rowson, Henry. Some odds from betfair. Too close to call from the bookies! betting.betfair.com/football/opta/opta-stats-qpr-v-stoke-2-180914-629.html?Opta Stats: QPR v Stoke Just one point currently separates struggling QPR and Stoke, so who will have the edge? Opta reveals all. QPR have won eight and lost just two of their last 13 home league games against the Potters (D3). The home side are 2.86 to win. Stoke have won their last two league games against the R's, though; they have not won three in a row against them since 1974. A Stoke win is priced at 2.88. QPR have scored only three goals in their last 11 Premier League games. Stoke are 3.0 to keep a clean sheet. Only Everton (10) have conceded more goals than QPR (9) this season in the Premier League. Over 2.5 goals is 2.56. Only Burnley have scored as few goals as QPR (1) this season. Under 2.5 goals is 1.62. Stoke are unbeaten in their last four Premier League away games; they have not gone five in a row without defeat since a run of six in April 2010. They are 3.25 to extend this run with a draw. Peter Crouch has now gone 10 Premier League appearances without scoring. QPR are 2.96 to keep a clean sheet. Charlie Austin has scored 11 goals in his last 13 appearances at Loftus Road (inc. playoffs). Austin is 2.36 to win. Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has made only three saves in four appearances this season. QPR are 1.46 to score. Stoke have lost their last five Premier League games in London, failing to score in the last four of those games. QPR are 4.0 to win to nil.

More from betfair betting.betfair.com/football/premier-league/qpr-v-stoke-premier-league-betting-preview-september-20-2014-180914-664.html?QPR v Stoke: Fired up Rs to dish out away day misery for returning Hughes Mark Hughes returns to the scene of his greatest flop Lewis Jones may not agree with the predicted nasty atmosphere awaiting Mark Hughes for his Loftus Road return but he thinks it will play a huge part in helping Harry Redknapp's side grab all three points... QPR v Stoke Saturday, KO 12:45 Live on BT Sport QPR Boo. Hiss. Boo. That'll be the completely over-the-top reception former QPR boss Mark Hughes will have waiting for him on Saturday as he returns to Loftus Road for the first time since being sacked in November 2012. Many R's fans have seemingly forgotten that Hughes kept QPR up in 2012 before the club implemented their own watered down version of the "Galactico" transfer policy and started the following season winless in the first 12 games. Of course, Hughes was hardly blameless in the mess that was the 2012/2013 season but it does seem a little pathetic the amount of anger and bitterness towards one man when the whole culture of that football club was put in place by the board of directors more interested in building a worldwide brand than a successful football team. Anyhow, the animosity towards Hughes should add a little spark into this game as QPR try to bounce back from a pitiful showing against Manchester United last weekend, where they were blown away 4-0. Midfield duo Joey Barton and Jordan Mutch should return to the side after missing the trip to Manchester with hamstring injuries while Eduardo Vargas is pushing for a start alongside Charlie Austin up front. Stoke The only thing consistent about the Potters this season thus far has been their inconsistency. They stunned the champions Manchester City in their own back yard before losing at home to newly promoted Leicester City last weekend. Predicting which Stoke side will turn up in west London looks a tricky task. Jonathan Walters is a major injury doubt for the lunchtime clash while Hughes must decide whether to thrust City match winner Mame Diouf straight back into the firing line after naming him on the bench last weekend, having only returned back from international duty 24 hours earlier. Oussama Assaidi could play having enjoyed a full week's training, while Marko Arnautovic and Charlie Adam are also in contention to make the starting XI. Match Odds I'm sure the irony won't be lost on QPR fans if Hughes rocks up at Loftus Road and manages to oversee an away victory at odds of 2.88. While in the west London hot seat, Hughes failed to win a game on the road, taking just two measly points from a possible 42 available. That Stoke price automatically strikes me as an incredibly short one, despite the fact that Hughes has a recent away record with Stoke that looks impressive on paper after winning three of their last six Premier League away days. Dig a little deeper though and his appalling record with teams away from their home comforts gives a QPR-based bet plenty of legs here. Since exiting Blackburn five seasons ago, the former Wales gaffer has only overseen 11 Premier League away wins in his last 83 matches (9%). Furthermore, even though we're only four games into the season and making conclusive judgements is tainted with danger, it does look like this Stoke side will struggle to find the net having bagged just two in the first four games despite having 65 attempts at goal. Much like the man he replaced, Harry Redknapp has built what success he's had at Rangers on their strong home form. When planning a punting attack on QPR, erasing their away form from your thinking is recommended. They've won just two of their last 14 matches on the road and put up pathetic resistance against Tottenham (0-4) and Manchester United. However, at Loftus Road they tasted defeat just twice last season and have started this campaign at home with much more intensity and drive than what was on show at White Hart Lane and Old Trafford. Hull were fortunate to steal a win on the opening day before Sunderland were outplayed as they were brushed aside 1-0. On those performances QPR should be much closer to even money than the 2.86 available to beat a no thrills Stoke side. When you throw in the likely hostile reception in the stands towards the returning Hughes, which should activate QPR's 12th man, taking a chance on Redknapp's boys to deliver three points makes plenty of sense. The draw can be punted at 3.25. To Score One area of weakness in my betting temperament is my love of following a centre-back to score. Once I get my hook stuck on the juicy lips of a potential big-price goal-getter, there's no going back. Of course, this is a strategy I'm not advocating or am very proud of, but it has given me some memorable moments. Robert Huth scoring against Portsmouth for Stoke in 2010 was a personal highlight. My centre-back radar is firmly tuned into QPR's matches at the moment and it's only a matter of time before Steven Caulker opens his accounts for the Super Hoops. Since signing from Cardiff, the aerially sublime springer has already had eight attempts on goal this season, seven of those headed, and only a mixture of last ditch defending has quelled the threat of Caulker's noggin. He found the net five times for his former club in the Premier League last season and the 10.0 available on his chances to get off the markfor this season are tantalisingly tempting. Recommended Bets Back QPR to beat Stoke @ 2.88 (2pts) Back Stephen Caulker to score anytime @ 10.0 (1pt)

Definitely need to play Barton in this game, if anyone has something to say to Hughes it's him.

"No Grudges" (right!) Stoke Sentinel Stoke City: Mark Hughes ready to bury hatchet with QPR owner Tony Fernandes By The Sentinel | Posted: September 20, 2014 Stoke City: Mark Hughes ready to bury hatchet with QPR owner Tony Fernandes Digsby IM, Email, and Social Networks in one easy to use application! kvors.com/click/?s=88377&c=89569&subid=21987Stoke City boss Mark Hughes. Comments (0) MARK Hughes has promised to shake the hand of Tony Fernandes this afternoon when they meet for the first time since he was axed by the QPR owner nearly two years ago. Hughes left Rangers in a blaze of bad publicity that could have finished him as a Premier League manager. And Fernandes has since stirred the pot by saying Hughes is the only former manager he doesn't have a friendship with – and that he was past his "sell-by" date. But the Stoke boss, speaking ahead of today's lunchtime kick off (12.45pm) at Loftus Road, insists: "He probably meant past the sell-by date at his football club. He wants what's best for the club and apparently he's looking forward to the game! "He knows me quite well and knows I'm no good on the phone anyway, so he shouldn't have been expecting a phone call. I don't ring anybody. "He wished me well when I got the Stoke job and I thanked him. I had a good working relationship with him and enjoyed his company. "I also went to the QPR game at Manchester United (last Sunday) and the people in the QPR box said 'hello'." Hughes is bracing himself for a tougher time from Rangers fans today, but insists that won't distract him from the task of trying to pilot a second league win of the season for the Potters. He added: "I don't hold any grudges and I don't bother about my treatment. If you are bothered you only hurt yourself. "I used to get stick at every away ground when I was a player and it didn't do me any harm. "I got a little bit when I was at Fulham as manager, but I came through that and finished strongly. "If you win football matches any criticism goes away. But I didn't help myself (at QPR) by not winning football matches." Hughes admits his top-flight future was by no means guaranteed after being sacked by Fernandes in November 2012. "You never know. You wait for the phone to ring and sometimes it never does, as a lot of managers have found out. "You don't assume you'll get another opportunity at the top, but I hoped people would see through the period I had at QPR. "I've been doing this a long time, 300-odd games in the Premier League, and QPR was a short period. I knew I could do the job. "Obviously there was a little bit of reputational damage, but I've been able to overcome at Stoke that with the help of the Coates family." Well, my good son, has just dropped in and left, a 6 pack of Four Wives Pilsener, a bottle of red, camembert, biscuits and nibbles. He will be back with Pizzas at 7.35pm WA time, with my 11yo grandson, for the start of the match. I hope for once we are not disappointed.
