Add Surman out aswell , 3 midfielders and two defenders down !
Norwich City suffer Lansbury and Ward injury blow Lansbury (left) and Ward picked up injuries against Coventry last week Norwich City defender Elliott Ward and midfielder Henri Lansbury are expected to be sidelined "for a few weeks", according to boss Paul Lambert.
Neither player was fit enough for Tuesday's 4-2 Championship win over Sheffield United at Carrow Road.
Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Elliott's got a calf problem at the minute and Henri's got a hamstring.
"It's not like I've just got fringe players out, I've got a handful there that are first team players for me."
Lansbury, 20, could have played his last game for City as he is set to end his loan spell and return to parent club Arsenal on 16 January.
Lambert is already without midfielder Andrew Surman through injury and defender Leon Barnett still has one game of a two-match ban to serve.
Midfielder Simon Lappin picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign against the Blades, meaning he is suspended for the New Year's Day visit of QPR.
But left-back Adam Drury and centre-half Zak Whitbread are back in full training and both were on the bench on Tuesday.
"If you look at them two [Ward and Lansbury] and Leon being out, Drury out, Surman out, you've got five lads who are virtually going to start for you," added Lambert.
"It's a hell of a chunk, that's too much to carry.
"You've got to give the lads who came in a lot of credit for what they're doing, they're a close knit group at the minute."
Wes Hoolahan proved to be the inspiration for the Canaries' against the Blades.
606: DEBATE Looks like Whitbread and Drury are returning at just the right time and we may need to hang on to Askou and Tudor Jones for a bit longer too
CardinalCanary The 28-year-old attacker scored a hat-trick after being introduced as a half-time substitute.
But the Irishman, who played 37 times in Norwich's League One title winning campaign last season, has made just two starts in City's last six games.
"It's never easy when you're leaving somebody out who's been important to what's happened in the last 17 months," said Lambert.
"It's always a big decision but he's never once moaned about it or anything like that.
"He's been great for me, it's just a decision you make, you try and pick a team you think might win a game, but his two penalties were great because you've got to hold your nerve."

Great time , Barnett a big loss , Ward is a regular for them and Lansbury and Lappin start most games wont get a better window of oppurtunity to get 3 points at a tricky ground! Of course we nearly bought Surman before Wolves got him but he never broke into there team. However Hoolahan replaces Lansbury and hes a pretty decent player ive always admired.

FURTHER INJURY CONCERNS AHEAD OF QPRCITY boss Paul Lambert has further injury concerns ahead of the visit of league leaders Queens Park Rangers to Carrow Road on New Year's Day (3pm). Stars will stay at Norwich City – Paul Lambert
Friday, 31 December, 2010 Paul Lambert says none of his top players will be leaving Carrow Road during the January transfer window.
Share | .Your ViewEmailPrintGot a Story?..To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in. .. The City boss laughed off rumours that right back Russell Martin was on his way to Premier League Blackburn Rovers - and treated new reports linking him with the managerial vacancies at Burnley and Preston in much the same manner.
The arrival of the transfer window is always greeted with rumours, but Lambert made it clear who’s the boss at Carrow Road - and that his decision is final.
“If the club want to sell then it is whether I accept it or not and if they want to sell and I don’t agree then it becomes a major issue,” he said.
That’s unlikely to be the case, although Lambert emphasised that financial concerns will dictate where he does his shopping - which started this week with the capture of big striker Aaron Wilbraham from League One side MK Dons.
“People have got to get the perception out of their head that we are going to go and buy big,” he said. “We can’t do it, that’s the bottom line. People have to get that - we cannot do what other teams do. We can only try and get in where we think we need to strengthen it and get lads who are hungry to go and do it, but people have to have a realism with where the club is.”
City’s first game of 2011 is at home to leaders Queens Park Rangers, with Lambert’s plans hit by injuries.
Having seen central defender Elliott Ward and midfielder Henri Lansbury ruled out by calf and hamstring injuries respectively, Lambert says there is now a doubt over another, unnamed, player.
Left back Simon Lappin is suspended, so Adam Drury looks certain to start, even though he hasn’t played for more than two and a half months.
“Whoever I play I don’t have any fears because they give me everything they have got,” said Lambert. “They won’t let anybody down, they won’t let themselves down, they won’t myself down or the club or their team-mates which is important. Whoever plays I don’t have a problem.”

BBC Preview Norwich v QPR Npower Championship Venue: Carow Road Date: Saturday, 1 January Kick-off: 1500 GMT Coverage: Live commentary on 5 live sports extra, watch highlights on The Football League Show; Updates on BBC Radio 5 live and BBC local radio; text commentary on the BBC Sport website TEAM NEWS Norwich City are without central defender Leon Barnett and left-back Simon Lappin, who are both suspended. Elliott Ward (calf) and on-loan midfielder Henri Lansbury (hamstring) are both ruled out, and Andrew Surman (knee) is a long-term absentee. QPR can include defender Clint Hill as their appeal against his recent red card against Swansea was successful. Boss Neil Warnock must again choose between Heidar Helguson and Rob Hulse for a place up front. MATCH PREVIEW Queens Park Rangers enter 2011 seven points clear at the top of the Championship and with history on their side. The team top of the table at the start of January has gone on to win promotion in all but two of the last 19 years. But QPR fans could be forgiven for not daring to believe just yet. After all, the younger generation have known little but problems on and off the pitch, and older supporters saw Rangers pipped at the post for the league championship in 1976 and crash out of the Uefa Cup eight years later after squandering a four-goal lead. No chickens are being counted at Loftus Road. But the R's are on course for a return to the Premier League after a 15-year absence and a first promotion to the top flight since 1983 when, incidentally, they started the new year in second place behind Wolves and went on to win the title by 10 points. But Norwich City's current form is also excellent. The Canaries, who are fifth, have won four of their last five matches, and scored four goals in two of them: against Sheffield United and arch rivals Ipswich. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • These clubs drew 0-0 at Loftus Road in October, and at least one of them has failed to score in each of the last six meetings between Rangers and Norwich. 606: DEBATE Have your say on this match • Norwich are two goals away from their 150th against the R's. Norwich • City have gone 10 matches without keeping a clean sheet. • They are joint top of the Championship's 'form table' based on the last six matches. • Last year was the first time in a decade that Norwich won their first league match of a calendar year. Queens Park Rangers • QPR have the Championship's best defensive record, having conceded only 14 goals this season and kept an unrivalled 13 clean sheets. • Leon Clarke could make his 200th league appearance news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_div_1/9322940.stm?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

If the sixth injury is Holt or Hoolahan that would be a new years bonus!
