Giraudo of Juventus (AFP)Former Juventus director Antonio Giraudo has been sentenced to a three year jail term for his part in the 2006 Calciopoli trial. The prosecutors at the trial in the court of Naples for the preliminary investigations into Calciopoli had asked for Giraudo to be handed a five year term, but the Judge Edoardo De Gregorio considered the arguments and handed him a three year sentence for "Sporting Fraud". Former referee's Tulio Lanese and Paolo Dondarini were both handed two year jail terms, with Tiziano Pieri given a two year four month stretch. The rest of the accused including referee Gianluca Rocchi were all acquitted. Reports from Tuttosport claim Rocchi burst into tears following the verdicts. At the end of the hearing the judge also passed a ruling which states Giraudo, Pieri and Dondarini cannot take part in a sports events or place bets on sporting fixtures for at least three years.
