TAYLOR: 'WE DID SOME GOOD THINGS'

By Ross Jeavons

Blues boss Peter Taylor has declared that there were plenty of positives to come out of the 2-1 friendly defeat to Q.P.R on Tuesday night, as the Chairboys put up a battling display against the Championship promotion candidates.

A couple of sloppy defensive errors in the opening ten minutes saw the home side two goals down early-on, but the Wanderers battled back admirably against the wealthy West Londoners - with Luke Oliver's late strike adding respectability to the scoreline.

"They were two shocking goals to concede but I think in open play I was quite pleased with us," Taylor told the post match press conference.

"We had a terrific spell when we were 1-0 down and then we went and conceded another poor goal, but we did some good things."

The Hoops oozed class from the off, boasting a line-up that will surely test all but the toughest of defences in the Football League this season.

Ex-Wanderers loanee Angelo Balanta was a case in point, showing typical flair from the left wing position.

"Rangers are a very attractive team, Balanta and Routledge are two lovely wide players who are going to cause defences all sorts of problems," said the Chairboys chief.

"I thought it was a very pleasing game for us, we're miles better than we were at this stage last year that's for sure. Some of our passing was excellent in both halves, we played differently in the second half as we had people who could run with the ball but even before that our passing was good."
