This is Nottingham - Stags sign former Magpies keeper Wednesday, May 27, 2009,
MANSFIELD Town have today swooped to sign ex-Notts County goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe. The 19-year-old Enfield-born keeper has been playing for Stafford Rangers in the Blue Square North. Sandercombe came through the academy at QPR and later joined Plymouth Argyle. He joined Notts in July 2007 but was released by mutual consent just over a year later. Sandercombe will offer competition for Alan Marriott, who finished the 2008-2009 season as the Stags' first choice keeper. "He's a giant at 6ft 5ins who wants to continue to progress his career," said boss David Holdsworth. "He will push Alan Marriott and it's great to have him on board. "I couldn't be more happy with how the preparations for next season are going in terms of the way the squad is shaping up." Sandercombe is aware he will have his work cut out getting into the Mansfield side. He said: "I know of Alan Marriott's reputation – he is an excellent professional. "I know I have to impress and I will try and impress each day I am here." Sandercombe is Mansfield's fifth new signing of the close season following Luke Jones, Jake Speight, Luke Graham and Gary Mills into Field Mill. Daryl Clare has also agreed a permanent deal after joining on loan from Rushden at the tail end of last season. www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/homesport/Stags-sign-Magpies-keeper/article-1027352-detail/article.html
