Barton Tweets "Brilliant training today. Absolutely loved it. Good blow on. Feels great when you get a sweat on... #happydays"
Think it would be wrong to deprive Joey of many more such joyful days. And since he doesn't really care about money, let's just tear up his contract

Fleetwood play Oldham Tomorrow. Wonder if Barton plays (can play) If it's a friendly then they were asking the FA about it. Barton should be a able to play as it won't go towards his ban, unless the misconduct charge bans him from all football. Rules are a little unclear on this point.

I s'pose it's a bit like tax avoidance/evasion.... of course there's some sort of rule underpinning things but there's also a "spirit" of the law/rules too. Whole thing with Barton was a shabby embarrassment and he and club should just take its medicine and stop fannying around with clever-dick wheezes to weasle out of things.

West London Sport FA ‘set to block Barton loan move’ 27/07/2012 by Matt Barrett The Football Association are set to block any attempt by Joey Barton to see out his 12-match ban by going out on loan, according to The Sun. Barton is currently training at Fleetwood Town, with QPR supposedly keen to loan him out so that his suspension is served quickly because of the large number of games lower-division teams face early in the season. Championship clubs Nottingham Forest, Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday are also reported to be interested in the controversial midfielder. It is suggested that a short-term loan would require an application to the FA and the chance of getting a move pushed through is seen as unlikely. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/fa-set-to-block-barton-loan-move?

www.fleetwoodtoday.co.uk/sport/football/fleetwood-town/the-new-boy-in-town-1-4779303Sponsored byThe new boy in Town Joey Barton training with Fleetwood Town FC By Andy Moore Published on Friday 27 July 2012 10:34 Anyone who thought the stories about Joey Barton training with Fleetwood Town were just a joke and a wind-up have had the smile wiped from their faces – and our pictures prove it. Even so, the QPR midfielder’s first session with Fleetwood Town at their Fylde RFC base yesterday raised far more questions than it answered. The controversial 29-year-old, banned for the first dozen games of next season following his sending off at Manchester City in May, trains with Town again today, will attend this evening’s Highbury friendly against Oldham (but won’t play) and then heads to Scotland with the squad for a training camp on Sunday. What all Town fans are asking now is what happens beyond next week and whether Barton will, as has been rumoured, join the club on loan. And if anyone at Fleetwood knows the answer, they aren’t saying. Chairman Andy Pilley referred to an exclusive media agreement covering the Liverpudlian’s spell at the club which forced him to keep his lips sealed. He told The Gazette: “Until we know what is happening, we can’t say anything except that we are delighted Joey has joined us and it’s a pleasure to have a player of his talent and experience.” Manager Micky Mellon said: “All I know is that I have a cracking footballer at my club and I’m delighed he is here. “As far as I know, this agreement has always been for one week and we have to enjoy the influence he has on the group while we can.” Barton was not made available for interview but he tweeted: “Brilliant training today. Absolutely loved it. Good blow on. Feels great when you get a sweat on.” FOR THE FULL STORY AND PICTURES PICK UP A COPY OF FRIDAY’S GAZETTE.

Update: NO Barton playing for Fleetwood Fleetwood Official Site Home / News / Latest News / Latics next up Latics next up Town’s new signings look ahead Fri Jul 27, 2012 at 9:42 1-_DSC5717 Fleetwood Town face Oldham Athletic at Highbury on Friday evening, kick off 7:30 p.m., and latest signings, Conor McLaughlin and David Ball, will be hoping to extend their match time for their new club. Both wore the red and white for the first time on Tuesday evening at Stockport County and are seeking to catch up with fitness and match time. Former Preston full-back, McLaughlin, played a full ninety minutes: ‘I only got back to touching a ball the day before and, naturally, felt a bit rusty but it was good to get a full game under my belt. I met some of the lads on the Saturday and others on the Monday so everything’s pretty new. These games are all about getting sharpness back.’ Having just completed all his fitness tests following his transfer from Peterborough United, Ball arrived at Edgeley Park just before the game and played in the second half: ‘It was my first bit of football for six or seven days. Bearing that in mind, I was happy with my touch. There were a couple of chances which I should have scored from but that will come in time. I’m looking forward to Friday’s game with Oldham. It will be a tough test but it will be good to play at home.’ One name definitely not on Friday’s team sheet against the Latics is that of Joey Barton. The club can confirm that Barton will not be involved in the Oldham game but will be at Highbury to see the team in action. The squad will embark on a three-day trip to Scotland from Sunday and the visit will include a behind closed doors friendly against Scottish Premier League side, Kilmarnock on Tuesday. Meanwhile The club can confirm Joey Barton will not be involved in tonight’s game v Oldham Athletic at Highbury, but will be attending the game to see the team in action. www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/2012/07/27/latics-next-up/

Played for Fleetwood tonight in Scotland Fleetwood Town Town on top in Scotland Four goals for Town against SPL side Tue Jul 31, 2012 at 15:51 Kilmarnock 0-4 Fleetwood Town Played at Glasgow University Science Park Tuesday 31st July 2012 Fleetwood Town made no mistake in front of goal against Scottish Premier League outfit Kilmarnock in Glasgow. The newly promoted League Two side put four past last season’s Scottish Cup winners in a confident performance. The game saw three Town changes at half-time and five more on the hour, including Joey Barton completing his first 45 minutes of pre-season football. Micky Mellon’s summer signings proved their worth with most recent signing David Ball taking a brace. Barton said his introduction to pre-season was a test: “I feel a bit stiff and the body is aching. This is only my 5th day of pre-season and it’s all part of the game none of us really like. But it’s a necessary evil so, as players, we are ready for the start of the season.” The midfielder added it was good to have a ball back at his feet: “I really enjoyed my 45 minutes and it’s nice to play with a team who likes to get the ball down and pass. There are some really good players in the Fleetwood side. “It will take me sometime to get up to speed as I’m three or four weeks behind. The squad has been away in Austria and had an intensive pre-season . They are into their third or fourth game and you can see they are sharp and look like a team. It was a pleasure to be out there. Fleetwood can take a lot of positives after enjoying some good passages of play.” Another new face and former PNE man Barry Nicholson was first to test the Kilmarnock goal when he rattled the bar inside 5 minutes. Dean Howell was the next new arrival to make an impact when he coolly won a throw when under pressure. The back-to-back promotion winner with AFC Wimbledon then accelerated down the wing but his cross was deflected off a defender. Andy Mangan was also unlucky with a block when his 25 yard shot deflected off the Killie back line. Ball then threatened for the first time but his run into the box also found a defensive block. The increased Town tempo marked the quarter hour mark and new defender Conor McLaughlin proved handy with right foot crosses. The hard work in the final third finally paid off when Jon Parkin threaded a neat pass to Ball who was left to fire home. More well-crafted forward movement saw the impressive Damien Johnson’s shot driven down by a defender but penalty claims for hand ball were denied. The half hour mark saw a Nicholson corner sweep in from the right. Steve McNulty and Parkin won the header between them and Youl Malwane was unlucky at the near post. Jamie McGuire showed plenty of his trademark tough and persistent challenging following his serious facial injury at the end of last term. Malwane then had a similar chance from another Nicholson corner but the keeper produced a good save. The SPL side managed a brief rally towards the end of the first period with Scott Davies being called on in one of the few Kilmarnock threats on his goal. The end came to a close with McNulty taking time to calmly clear to a team-mate instead of blasting out of play. Town claimed two successive corners in the opening minutes of the half and with them the promise of more goals. Ball delivered his, and Fleetwood’s second, just before the hour mark. A decisive pass from Mangan allowed the former Peterbourgh striker to fire home. Fleetwood were fully in command and never looked likely to let go of the lead. Alex Titchiner continued to make a nuisance of himself around the opposition box and allowed Jamie Milligan to convert the penalty produced by one of his runs. Trialist Raphael Branco sealed victory with a well taken run into the box and strike towards the end. Fleetwood now face Tranmere Rovers at home on Saturday. Barton said the visit of the League One side will be a good opportunity to build momentum going into the season: “I watched the Oldham game last week and everyone connected with the club was disappointed with the performance. The club are now into winning ways and that becomes a good habit. If they can go into the Nottingham Forest and Torquay games with more momentum by beating Tranmere they can have flying start.” www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/2012/07/31/town-on-top-in-scotland/

Is he allowed? Blackpool Gazette Barton keen to play in friendly Published on Thursday 2 August 2012 08:31 JOEY Barton could figure for Fleetwood Town at Highbury on Saturday, in a pre-season friendly with Tranmere Rovers. The Queens Park Rangers midfielder, who has been given permission by the Hoops to train with Town to get fit, played 45 minutes in a closed match at Kilmarnock in midweek, and might well play again as Fleetwood take on Mellon’s old club Tranmere. Mellon said: “I have so many things to sort out on coming back from Scotland with the team, that I haven’t really had time to think a lot about Joey and Saturday. “I am led to believe that Joey could play for us on Saturday, and until somebody tells me the opposite he is allowed to play. “He is a few weeks behind us because he hasn’t trained as much, but he has been a real, positive influence on the group. “You can see that everyone wants to get to his high standards.” Barton himself said of his experience training with Fleetwood and getting 45 minutes under his belt in the 4-1 win over Killie: “It feels painful and I’m a little bit stiff. “This was only my fifth day of pre-season after eight or nearly nine weeks sitting with my feet up after the exploits of Premier League season last year. “They (Fleetwood players) have been away in Austria and doing quite an intensive pre-season programme. “This was about their third or fourth game now, and you can see that. “They are really sharp and starting to look like a team. “It was just a pleasure to be out there and get a sweat on. “It’s a start to that much-needed fitness and that’s the whole reason of coming to Fleetwood.” Barton felt Fleetwood would take plenty of encouragement into Saturday’s home friendly against Tranmere Rovers. “I’m not being unfair to Kilmarnock if I say 4-0 flattered them. “It could have been six, seven or eight, and that was a testament to the football the lads played. “Certainly the lads in the first half had a couple of good chances. “In the second half when I was involved, the lads created some really good chances. “I certainly think Fleetwood can take a lot of positives out of the game. “There was some good passages of play and, when I was watching in the first half, it made it more pleasing been part of the second half.” Barton was a spectator for last Friday’s home defeat against League One side Oldham Athletic, and he said Town took that game as a wake-up call. “I watched the Oldham game and everyone involved with the club was disappointed with the level of performance. “Pre-season is about fitness and we had done fitness work a couple of days before the game. “That means you start the match a little bit tired from the sessions. “That’s pre-season and it’s more about fitness than the level of performance. “But it’s always good to put game time under your belt like the lads have done. “You then start seeing patterns of play emerge and, more importantly, scoring goals and winning games. “Winning is a really good habit to get into and the sooner you do that then the better. “If Fleetwood can build a little bit of momentum going into the Nottingham Forest and Torquay games with a win against Tranmere, which will be a test, then they will hopefully be off to a flying start in the League Cup and League Two campaign.” .... www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/football/fleetwood-town/barton-keen-to-play-in-friendly-1-4794544

Why Not Give Joey Barton A Little Credit?
Joey Barton says he is training with Fleetwood Town in order to revive some passion for football. Nick Miller believes him, and thinks we should all admire him too...
Joey Barton has been something of a pillock over his career. Not, shall we say, a ground-breaking statement. It is not only the repeated indiscretions, which everyone knows about, but the constant requests for a second chance that grate. The 'I know I messed up, but I can change' pleas that prove little apart from that he probably won't change. There are a number of other reasons to dislike him, and you'll all have your own, so I won't list them all here.
Barton's latest boo-boo landed him in some trouble with not only the Premier League but his club QPR, who after his 12-match ban given for the glorified bar brawl at Manchester City, prevented him from going on their pre-season tour, and asked him very nicely to stay away from their first team and train with the reserves.
Barton, his pride understandably wounded, decided that he'd rather train with Fleetwood Town, the League Two club for whom his good friend Andy Mangan plays. A loan from QPR to Fleetwood has been mooted, and may indeed have gone through by the time you read this.
Of course, there are cynical/practical reasons for this loan, specifically that Barton would be able to run down that ban quicker at a Football League club than he would at QPR. The FA wouldn't sanction a loan specifically for this purpose, but they would a six-month loan, allowing him to get the suspension out of the way, and return to QPR fully prepared for the second half of the season.
But why Fleetwood? Why not a Championship club? QPR would no doubt prefer him to play at a higher level if the purpose is purely for them, purely to use another club further down the food chain for their own means.
Barton, writing on his website, had his own explanation for this: 'I have become a little disenchanted with the game in the last 6 months after what I have put myself through and I desperately want to fall back in love with the game. I feel that training in the lower leagues will give me a reality check and maybe help me become a better person, a little more humility will serve me well. The lower leagues is where the hunger for the game is at its greatest, at least where players are concerned. 'I want to re-ignite that passion for the game, something that I ordinarily have an abundance of. No monetary bullsh*t. No media b*llocks (though apparently there still is!). No prima donnas. Just pure, old school, mortgage/livelihoods on the line, balls-out football.' Dear reader, I would not blame you for disbelieving this. I would not blame you for taking the evidence of his past and tossing away this explanation as the latest excuse from a troubled lost cause.
However, I choose to believe him, simply because it's very easy to become disillusioned with football. Whether it's the money, the contempt the authorities seem to hold supporters in, the celebrity, even the behaviour of people like Barton - you will all have your own reasons, so take your pick.
Everyone seems to recognise that, for most footballers, this is just a job. It's how you explain the constant movement between clubs, the haggling for new contracts and the apparent lack of loyalty. Yet you forget that people can enjoy a job as well, especially football. And yet it's quite possible for a footballer, no matter how much money they receive, to not actually enjoy themselves. Every few weeks it seems, Football365 gets an e-mail from a fan saying they have fallen out of love with the game, so it's therefore perfectly possible for a player to do the same.
Barton could quite easily have quietly trained with the reserves and picked up the £80,000-a-week or whatever QPR are shelling out, but if that didn't make him happy, what would be the point? Barton presumably already has plenty of money, so at this stage why not do something to make him happy? Winston Bogarde is regarded as a charlatan and a skiver for sitting on the bench and coining in many thousands of Chelsea's pounds, so should Barton not be lauded for trying to reignite passion for the game? In an era when footballers are rightly criticised for being out of touch with fans, Barton is attempting to rediscover what brought us all here in the first place. The thing that inspires us all to obsess over the game. Barton says that passion has gone, and he's trying to get it back.
So why not give Barton a little credit? We all rightly think less of him when he does the stupid stuff, so why not think more when he tries to improve himself?
Nick Miller - like Joey, he's on Twitter

And... "....Fleetwood have hit the national headlines of late with rumours that Premier League bad boy Joey Barton is in talks to join the club on loan. QPR midfielder Barton is training with the club to maintain his fitness while he serves a 12-match ban for kicking Sergio Aguero and attempting to head-butt Vincent Kompany on the final day of last season. Joey_Barton2[1]Rumours: Joey Barton has been training with Fleetwood But while Parkin says the squad have enjoyed training with the former England international, he is in the dark over the possibility of Barton appearing in a Fleetwood shirt. 'He's been good, he's a good lad. I don't know what's going to be going off with him - whether he's coming or not - but he's a good lad and we're helping him out,' Parkin said..." footballleagueblog.dailymail.co.uk/2012/08/bold-ambition-football-league-new-boys-fleetwood-target-second-successive-promotion.html
