Not football, I know, but hope this thread will be allowed to stand.
Tom Maynard, Surrey's 23 years old cricketer was killed when he fell under an underground train. As a cricket fan I was saddened to see the untimely loss of this very talented young man.
RIP Tom.

Heard about this news earlier.
Such a sad loss, way too young to die.

Tom Maynard, Surrey and England Lions batsman, dies at age of 23
• Maynard was hit by train on London Underground • He had been tipped to play for England
Katy Murrells
Tom Maynard, the Surrey and England Lions batsman, has died at the age of 23, his club has announced. He was struck by a train on the London Underground in the early hours of Monday morning, having played for Surrey on Sunday night in their Twenty20 defeat to Kent.
A statement from Surrey said: "Surrey County Cricket club and the ECB can confirm that batsman Tom Maynard has been confirmed dead by the Metropolitan police."
Meanwhile a British Transport Police spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to the line near Wimbledon Park London Underground station on Monday after a man was struck by a District Line train. The incident was reported to BTP at 5.03am and was also attended by Metropolitan police officers. London Ambulance Service medics attended but the man, believed to be 23 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner."
Maynard, the son of former England international Matthew Maynard, was a highly gifted batsman who had been widely tipped to go on and represent his country having played for England Lions last winter. He joined Surrey from Glamorgan at the start of last season and had impressed in all forms of the game, scoring a maiden first-class hundred in Cardiff last year and playing a key role in Surrey's victory in the Clydesdale Bank 40.
Surrey's Twenty20 game against Hampshire at The Oval on Wednesday has been postponed, while England's press conference, due to take place at Surrey's ground on Monday, has also been cancelled as a mark of respect.
The Surrey chairman, Richard Thompson, said: "Our thoughts at this awful time are with Tom's family and friends. Tom Maynard was a prodigiously talented young batsman who had made an incredible start to his career and was clearly destined for far greater things. The impact Tom made in such a short period of time for Surrey CCC spoke for itself. There is a profound sense of loss at the passing of Tom. To lose anybody at such a young age is an utterly senseless tragedy."
The ECB chairman, Giles Clarke, has also paid tribute. "This is a very sad day for everyone connected with Surrey and Glamorgan where Tom spent the early part of his career," he said. "Tom was a player of enormous potential who had an exciting future ahead of him. Our hearts go out to the Maynard family for their tragic loss and we send them and all Tom's many friends and colleagues within the game our deepest sympathies."
Several current and former cricketers have been paying their respects on Twitter. Mark Ramprakash, Maynard's team-mate at Surrey, said: "Life can b so cruel! Tom Maynard – a really nice guy who was a pleasure to play with & will b really missed. RIP Tom."
The former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff tweeted: "Tragic news that a great lad, Tom Maynard is no longer with us. All my thoughts are with his family at this awful time x x," while Michael Vaughan wrote: "Thoughts are with Matt Maynard and his family.. Words can't describe the Terribly sad news that Tom Maynard has died aged 23... #RIPTOM."

"..I also find it insulting that qpr-reports site are asking so many questions. They seem to want to know everything that goes on at the club..." |

Could more come of this though? Incredibly sad news but he must have been fruitbat to go to those lengths to escape the police.
