Makes the hair on the back of my neck tingle remembering that year.

I just about got home and away from a Chelse' friend who came with me to the replay to lay on my bed and cry.

I remember thinking it was written, the R's 100 yrs old and my wife expecting my first baby.

Think I will go and have a cold shower.

I know us old uns keep on about it but those really were the days and I have a feeling they are on there way back!

:)

A very good read. I remember queing up for ages to get my replay ticket although I seem to remember I was queing up at Wembley rather than Loftus Road? I was 13 and so convinced we would win the replay despite Clive Allen not playing. The optimism of youth eh!

Thanks for that Bill, brought back lots of memories.

I was in the forces at the time. Got my ticket for the final and then found out we were due to head down south to sort out a little problem that was filling the front pages at the time.

Managed to get leave to get to the final, then of course it went to a replay.

Luckily my OC was a football fan and understood , so he gave me compasionate leave to get to the replay. Shame about the result. Managed to get back on time and a few days later we went off to do our bit, but that is another story........
