Blackburn We have to keep in touch with Blackburn , they have similar run to us lesser games now and the second worst run in after us . Even if we are only a few points in front of them in March might not be a disaster. They have Man U , Liverpool , Spurs and Chelsea in their last eight games . Ideally we need at least a point away at Blackburn . WiganWigans tough spell is in March /April . Liverpool , Chelsea , Man Utd and Arsenal in a 5 game block . They finish with two possible relegation battles , Blackburn away and Wolves at Home. They managed to get out of it last season , we have to beat them Saturday to stay up! WBA Could get sucked into it with the other five below them . Their last 6 games are quite tricky , including away at Man C and Liverpool , home to Arsenal and two possible relegation battles with QPR and Bolton . Finally Six Pointer Saturday Saturday -11th Feb not a good weekend for a bottom team ! Wolves v WBA Blackburn v QPR Bolton v Wigan

The way things were going upto November i was hoping i wouldnt need to do this list but think we might need it now!

Thanks Harls. Great stuff. I think we will be needing this. But no matter which way I look at it. It's looking really bad for us. 6 of our last 10 games see us facing the top 6 teams. Other 4 teams are Sunderland (A), Swansea (H), WBA (A), Stoke (H). We'd be lucky to pick up more than 6 points.

Agree , maybe win the Swansea and Stoke game and pick up a 2/3 draws aswell Superc, could get 8 points , plus our 17 = 25 , suppose we need 4 wins and a couple of draws from the other 7 games , not much leeway now though is there !

I agree. I see the 6 points coming from Swansea and Stoke. It's strange because I actually think the team we have is good enough to get us out of relegation. If MH can get them playing good stuff again, we can hold our own in home matches. But whereas last season, we punched above our weight. This season we're punching below it. My priority now would be spend big money on a striker and a winger. Our problem so far is that we can't score. We've proved now we can create chances. Hell right now I'd be happy to drop Bothroyd out of the 25 and bring Kevin Phillips in from Blackpool and tell him don't run just hang around the box. He will score more than Bothroyd will and at least he wants to be in a scoring position.

True but not convinced Phillips is the answer now fantastic player in his day , a year or so ago maybe , would think Mr Hughes would be looking at someone a bit younger .
I suppose one thing in our favour is last year 40points was required and this year 38 might possibly be enough ??
wheres our minimum 21 points coming from ,6 wins and 3 draws from 17 games seems achievable but gawd we managed 2 points from our last nine , what a run .

a convincing win against wigan, and momentum + confidence will set us up to go on a run , a sneaky win i'm not to sure.
a loss and its very much uphill

Looking at the fixture. the next 7games. Blackburn Wolves and Wigan have tough fixtures wherby they could struggle to get more than 3 or 4 points each. Our next 7 games are our best chance of avoiding relegation. we have 5 6 pointers against 5 of the bottom 6 teams. Which if all goes well can put us about 6 or 7 points clear of third bottom, before we hit our those last 10 games.

The Phillips comment was one of desperation. My priority is now for someone who knows how to score. Having a great defence means nothing if we can't score. Defenders will make mistakes most teams concede a goal. We just need to be able to put them in at the other end.

Hope we dont need someone else to lose on the last day , being Wigan v Wolves and we need them to draw , that would be a killer!

Cant see Norwich getting sucked anywhere near it , been to consistent ! Looking like the pack of 5 at the bottom plus theres always a teams that just has a terrible finish , that maybe Swansea, we can but hope!

I dont think bolton will be playing well without Cahill. Maybe that one defender that replaced him wanted to prove something but that buzz will die off. Blackburn are screwed if they keep Samba, so all we have to do is beat out Wigan, Swansea, or Wolves

Blackburn have got Arsenalaway and Man C away in the next 3 with us in the middle . Even if we get a draw there and they lose the other two , we could be 9 points in front of them if we can Beat Wolves and Fulham . Bolton have Chelsea away and Man c away in the next 4 , away at Norwich tomorrow, 3 away games in the next 4 .
Seeing as we have 3 at home from 4 , now is the time if we continue our good two game run in 4 games time before Bolton we COULD be in a great position ..

Traditionally there is always a team that drops like a stone, heres hoping! Wonder who it will be? Just checked where Blackpool were after 23 games last season, and they had 28 points. This is the same number as Aston Villa at the moment, so I could see any team from Villa down getting dragged into the relegation battle.

Yep im with you bowles em , the 5 at the bottom now is where i think the three will come from , one of them being Wigan the other two not sure and a Chance wba and Fulham could get dragged into it .
One thing we must not forget , if you look at the last 10 games we have the big six in our final 10 games , Wigan have 4 of the big 6 and Arsenal ,Chelsea , Liverpool away nd Man U home so Wigans run in is as bad as ours. Wolves have 3 of the big 6 in the last 10. Blacknurn 4 of the big in the last 10. Bolton only one of the big 6 in the last 10 games .
if Bolton are close to us when we play Liverpool all i will say is they will overtake us .

Absolutely, the next 5 games are massive! I think we need to look at winning the home games and at least drawing away, that would give us the foundation and momentum needed to get away from the mire.
I've got a feeling that we'll beat at least one of the big six as well

Well our first half return against the big 6 was sh1t , 3 points from 18 ! If we gonly get 3 points from the same 6 games add to our 21 , 24 pts with 9 games to go . out of that nine we would need 5 wins or 4 wins and two -three draws . we dont have much leeway in these 9 games .
What do you class as a funny result Maude ?

we dont know what those big six will be playing for, we are playing for a lot more maybe, got some good additions, and i think it will be completely different return then 3 points.

Under Hughes and with our new squad members I think we will do better this time around.
