Pannini stickers in about 1979. Honestly, no other reason. I was an Airdrieonians fan for christ sake! I liked the strip and it's been that way for 30 odd years now. Glad I bought them though.

Closest team to where I was born but no R's fans in my family.
I would have have probably ended up supporting West Ham because I only really got into football when I moved to Essex and well, there are a lot of West Ham fans in Essex. Thankfully I saw sense and decided to support the team closest to where I was born, despite the fact that I never lived there.

As a boy I changed my professional team a lot but Chesham United was my real love.
My brother was then converted to Rangers & so I got free lifts to the Bush. This along with relegation in 68 had me following suit.
Therefore I blame my brother for all the years of pain that I have suffered!

Strange story for me I think i've already told that but anyway... I live in Europe and was born there, but i've always been passionated by English football. My father lived in Ealing for 3 monthes in the 80's and came 4 or 5 times to Loftus Road but totally stopped supporting Rangers once back in the continent, because of the distance and so on. in 2008, as i first went to London with him, we went to see Arsenal-Wigan, as neutral supporters. At the end of the game, my father told me this wasn't true english football as he experienced 20 years ago, so we bought a newspaper, looked at the fixtures and he saw that Rangers were playing Wolves 30 minutes later. We went to the Bush, got lost and eventually arrived at Half time. It was a cracking (half of a) game. I bought a shirt and since this day i support Rangers and my dad is following QPR with me again.
For your second question, there will never be another team i could love as much as i love the R's, but if i had to say the name of a club i could have supported should it be no Rangers it'd be Everton. I think they're the best mix between tradition, family club and success.
But i'm so proud to be a Ranger! The only thing i regret at QPR is that i got the feeling that the fans are no longer well treated like they were before. All this Briatore-Ecclestone-Paldini stuff are annoying me. I want to believe that football is not a business but it is these days...

As a young impressionable teenager, I was on a family trip to London in November 1975. My friend's brother brought me to Loftus Road to watch QPR v Newcastle Utd and the rest as they say is history.......... I have been coming to Loftus Road ever since!! I am ashamed to say that if it wasn't the R's it would be Chelsea as he also brought me to Stamford Bridge.

On a two year working holiday in the late 80ies lived in the lights shadow of Loftus Road and attended many games and grew to love the Rs. Now in Oz, I still follow them. Prior to that, coming originally from Zimbabwe I followed Liverpool because Bruce Grobelaar was a Zimbabwean!

I first saw QPR when they were playing Villa. I fell in love with the hooped jerseys and the rest is history. I could've become a Villa fan I guess but watching Dave Thomas and his socks around his ankles, Phil Parkes's brilliant saves and that was me hooked.

1978 - moved from Sir Christopher Wren annex by scrubs nick to the main school. Schoolmates took me to a game. When I was at the annex though a mate took me to Craven cottage. Thank god that came to nothing.

Dad is from the area.
Flirted with other clubs such as Liverpool & Crystal Palace when I was too young to know any better, but forget about supporting any other club when you have QPR in the blood.

Would have been nice to take them to a victory parade as not easy being a hoops fan at school surrounded by gunners and Chelski fans , bless'em

Saints fan until was dragged kicking and screaming to QPR vs Swindon first season after relagation from Prem. I felt like an adopted child finding his birth parents that day - never looked back.
Next season will be the first I have seen the R's in the top division - it means alot.

Long story but basically all started in the 2nd half of 1976 when they started showing Match of the Day in SA. When this was announced my Dad (Watford fan) and his mate (Arsenal) started talking about the days of following football when they lived in London and the conversation turned to London based football clubs and the grounds that they had visited (by the way one of them was Wealdstone a NL team whose results I still look out for every week).
After mentioning all the teams they suddenly realised they had forgotten to mention a Queens Park Rangers - and the punchline that followed "how could we forget them - after all they have won the League Cup" got me interested. I started looking out for their results and that interest soon turned into support - which has lasted for nearly 35 years.
Who would I have followed if I hadn't heard this strange name for a club that had won the LC? Well, most of my family (here and overseas) support the Gunners or the Hornets so it would have been one of those 2 teams - probably Arsenal.

I started following football in 1976 as a 7 year old and it was between Liverpool and this oddly named team Queens Park Rangers. The only football history in my family was an uncle being a Spurs fan and my mum was taken to a Chelsea match on a date once. Peer pressure strayed me to brief spells as an Arsenal and then a Spurs fan. Growing up in NE London they were the two biggest clubs. But then I went back to the Rs in time for the Venables era. Who else would I have supported? I guess Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs.

It was the 75-76 season team doing so well that attracted my attention as a young boy living near London and I've supported them ever since.
If it wasn't for QPR back then, I'm not sure who I would have supported. Probably another London club like West Ham, but not Chelski, Arsenal, or Spurs because I'd already discounted them! However, if QPR suddenly folded today, I would support either Exeter City (having lived there for 5 years and gone to plenty of their home games) or Bath City (since they are my local team now).

as this is my first post thought this thread would be a good one to put it in!
Started supporting Rangers after my Dad took me to the Spurs game in 92/93 when Ray Wilkins scored a diving header in a 4-1 win. My Dad is a football fan in general and from a Wolves supporting family, but wanted to start going to football regularly and decided I was old enough to go with him when I was 8. We went to a Brentford game first as they are slightly closer to where we lived but didn't really feel for it. My uncle was a Spurs fan and bought me a Spurs shirt so I was very excited about going to QPR - Spurs.... thank god Rangers won 4-1 because otherwise I could have ended up Spurs!
Loftus Road just felt right as well, ended up with a season ticket for the next 15 odd years and now Im playing on Saturdays again get to as many as I can but never enough!

Phil, remember when QPR beat Wealdstone 4-0 in the FA Cup? I used to go past their ground on the 125 from Cardiff to London when I was commuting.

Hi Andy - yeah I remember that, I think it happeend in the 3rd Round in 1978. My family grew up in the Wealdstone area and my Dad was a regular at their (old) ground, so that is one of the reasons why we look out for their results.
I know it is slightly off the subject but the 'Stones were the team to beat in N-L football in the late 70's & early 80's. In fact they did the N-L double (Conference title and FA Trophy) but the old pals act that was the FA always votedfor the likes of Crewe to retain the League status for no reason than because they could.
Who knows what would have happened if they were voted to go up because they had the ingredients for league success (Stuart pearce was one of their most prominent players). Instead they stagnated, almost went bust, had to sell their ground and were froced to share a ground and play in mid-table of the Isthmian Premier League. That said they reached the 1st round of the FA Cup not so long ago (last season I think).
Now to go back to the main topic.

Back in the early 70's 1971 I think I made my first trip to London from Glasgow as a fresh faced 19 year old. I was a Glasgow Ranger since birth so going to see another Rangers team was natural........On that fateful day at Loftus Rd i got to see Rodney in all his glory and the deal was done. As I have worked and lived in various places around the world I'd go back when I could to enjoy Stan B and all who followed him. Now in vancouver I come over at least once a year to get my fix. My car licence plate in Vancouver simply says QPR Go RRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs

I was studying at Brunel University in Uxbridge in 1979. A group of us were introduced to the Rs by one of my Professors, John Taylor. We stood the entire match at one end against Middlesborough and had the time of our lives.
Ever since I have followed the Club from the U.S. and, after so many years, will get to see them again (on television).

Back in '78 Wealdstone played at Lower Mead off Station Rd, nearest station Harrow and Wealdstone...which is not on the western rail approach. And yes, went to school with Stones fans, sometimes stood on that home terrace myself, 'till they were sold down the river. Hendon v Wealdstone 1966 FAC Final at Wembley Stadium, attendance 100,000.
