Swindon Advertiser SWINDON TOWN: Magilton to meet with Town chief Wednesday 11th May 2011 * Exclusive By Gary Rose » JIM Magilton is among the shortlisted candidates being interviewed this week for the vacant Swindon Town managerial position, the Advertiser understands. The 42-year-old, who began his professional playing career at Town’s rivals Oxford, has been out of management since leaving QPR in December 2009. Magilton also spent three years in charge of Ipswich after hanging up his boots in 2006 but was sacked after failing to reach the play-offs despite heavy investment. Also believed to be on the short list is former Portsmouth and Hearts boss Graeme Rix. The 53-year-old is currently a coach at the Glenn Hoddle Academy, meaning his appointment could possibly see a link-up between that and Town. Rix has been with the Academy since 2008 after being sacked by Hearts following just two months at the helm of the Scottish side. The Advertiser understands that former Bristol Rovers boss Paul Trollope was in the directors’ box for Town’s final two games of the season, but it is unclear if he is on the shortlist. Meanwhile, Town legend Paul Bodin, who took charge of the club for the final two games of the season, is to meet with interim chairman Jeremy Wray on Friday, where it is expected his future role at the club will become clear www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/9018111.Magilton_to_meet_with_Town_chief/

Swindon parted company with Paul Hart last month after their relegation to League Two. Former West Ham and Sheffield Wednesday striker Di Canio, 42, retired from the game three years ago. He was linked to the manager's job at Newport County in April, but later withdrew his application. newsvote.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/swindon_town/9482709.stm
