Waddock: 'Promotion is my best as a manager' May 7 2011 By Greg Burns www.buckinghamshireadvertiser.co.uk/south-buckinghamshire-sport/ba_wycombe_wanderers/2011/05/07/waddock-promotion-is-my-best-as-a-manager-82398-28653478/ GARY Waddock said winning promotion back to League One has erased the hurt of relegation last season and is the highlight of his managerial career. The Blues boss hailed his players for becoming the first team in five years to bounce straight back automatically to the third tier. Waddock also paid tribute to former assistant boss Martin Kuhl who resigned after an alleged team-bus bust-up last month. He said: "I was fortunate to take Aldershot back into the Football League. It was a big achievement and we enjoyed that but today, after the relegation of last year that we wanted to put right, then this is right at the top of it. "I want to thank Martin Kuhl aswell. He is not here but I have just rung him to thank him because he has played a massive part in this. "I can't sum it up. We have to enjoy the moment. The players have been magnificent all season and the last ten games have been incredible. "I am pleased for everybody associated with the football club and every member of the squad has played his part and every fan who has supported us home and away. "The players have showed every single quality this season to get promoted. I was very disappointed this time last season on the relegation and I wanted to put it right and we have done that." Wycombe waited until January 1 to break into the top three and only spent 10 days outside it before sealing promotion. With a host of summer signings, Waddock always believed the squad was good enough to go up. He said: "I knew in the early part of the season when things weren't going according to plan that people were looking at us. But players need time to get and the togetherness in the dressing room is amazing. "We have got a lot of experience in that dressing room and we had to be calm. The pressure was on us to perform and the way the players handled it and played was a big credit to them."
