Edit: Year Ago TodayFrom the Mail (also in several other papers) : Racing boss Bernie Ecclestone 'mugged for £200,000 of jewellery' on his doorstep
By Katherine Faulkner
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone was punched and kicked to the ground by robbers as they stole jewellery from him and his girlfriend.
The 80-year-old billionaire was attacked on his doorstep on Wednesday night as Fabiana Flosi looked on in horror.
He had to be taken to hospital with a head injury after the ambush, during which £200,000 worth of jewellery is believed to have been stolen.
Four robbers had been lying in wait as Ecclestone and his 31-year-old Brazilian girlfriend arrived at the central London building where he has a eighth-floor penthouse overlooking Hyde Park. Miss Flosi, a lawyer, sports marketing agent and model, could only look on in terror as her elderly boyfriend was beaten by the thieves.
She and Ecclestone were both ordered to remove jewellery, including a watch and diamond rings.
The gang managed to flee before police arrived.
Mr Ecclestone was taken to hospital where he was treated for a minor injury to the head. In a mark of defiance the tycoon was back at work just hours after the incident.
His girlfriend, who is 49 years his junior, was said to have been left ‘shaken’ by the attack.
Last night the Scotland Yard robbery squad were hunting the attackers but none of the haul has yet been recovered and no arrests have been made.
It is thought the gang may have been behind a string of targeted attacks on the rich and famous.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘We were called to reports of a man and woman who had been robbed in south west London at approximately 10.30pm on Wednesday night. 'The man, aged 80 years old, was taken to a west London hospital for treatment to a minor head injury. The woman was not injured.
‘At this early stage it is believed a quantity of jewellery was stolen but we cannot disclose details of what was stolen as yet.
‘No arrests have been made at this time and inquiries are continuing.’
It is not the first time that Mr Ecclestone has been a target for thieves.
Four years ago he was mugged as he parked his brand new Mercedes Benz CLS55 AMG outside his £10million mansion in Chelsea Square.
The car, said to be the first in Britain, had two of its wheels stolen in the robbery.
Mr Ecclestone divorced his wife Slavica last year and has since moved Miss Flosi into his Chelsea home.
Following the divorce, Slavica, 53, who lives in Knightsbridge, took delivery of a £36.5million private jet - a top-of-the-range Gulfstream G550.
Mr Ecclestone’s two daughters Tamara, 26, and Petra, 21, have reportedly refused to meet Miss Flosi out of loyalty to their mother.Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1333205/Bernie-Ecclestone-mugged-200-000-jewellery-doorstep.html#ixzz16NGfAdHDwww.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1333205/Bernie-Ecclestone-mugged-200-000-jewellery-doorstep.html

Very impressive (if perhaps a little fool-hardy)Examiner
Ecclestone returns to work after violent attackFormula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone is fine after becoming the victim of a violent robbery in London. The attack happened outside the Knightsbridge offices of Formula One Holdings Wednesday night as Ecclestone and his girlfriend Fabiana Flosi were arriving at the offices around 10:30 p.m. local time. The couple was attacked by four assailants who may have been waiting to ambush them according to police. The robbers got away with an estimated $300,000 (US) worth of jewelry. Ecclestone, who recently turned 80, suffered a minor head injury and was taken to a local hospital were he was treated and released. “Officers from Westminster robbery squad are investigating,” a Scotland Yard spokesman told local media. “There have been no arrests and inquiries continue.” Ecclestone returned to the offices Thursday and has yet to comment on the attack. Police are speculating that the same gang that is being sought for other high-profile attacks is behind the Ecclestone robbery. “There can be little doubt that this was a targeted robbery because of who Mr. Ecclestone is,” a senior police source said, according to The Sun. “The muggers were callous and showed little regard for the victims. They need to be caught.” www.examiner.com/formula-one-in-national/ecclestone-returns-to-work-after-violent-attack

More crime over here too. State of economy, more jobless, homeless, time of the years also when more money necessary for the holidays.
Went thru the brum and environs press, looking for a bit on Olga, but they said its the most dangerous city in Britain for crime, including environs. Nothing on Olga but now we have two beaten Rs folks.
there was nothing funny about either of these attacks nor did I see any comments of that nature on our threads. Harlesden isleworth is of course where Daphne lived her whole life. always worried a bout her living there but she was fearless. She lived on Park Parade just above the toy shop where I went as a kid.
We moved out before the area changed, but sorry about your grandfather. My father also had been beaten and robbed, but they are often preyed upon by thugs and robbers who take advantage of any infirmity and see them as easy marks.
Bernie though different kettle of fish probly who was part of the marked wealthy of Mayfair etc. Still with his assetts and the arm candy should have private security as someone mentioned.
Over here where I live in Chicago two of the wealthiest walk around in drab raincoats and no show which is the way to do it in these hard times.

At least in America if you do something wrong, you go to prison. If you do something really bad, then you are completely removed from society for a very long time. In Britain its hugely unlikely that you would go to prison after commiting a crime & on the very rare occassions that you would end up in prison for a very short stretch, you will have your playstation waiting for your forgetting your own personal laptop so you can keep in close contact with your "human rights" lawyer. The Left has completely destroyed The Judiciary & The Police in this country, if you have one of the thousands of state funded "human rights"lawyers that knows how to play the system, then you can serve a year in prison for Murder, things might be bad in the States, but when someone wrong, then they are punished.

Harsh! (Last paragraph)Telegraph Bernie Ecclestone back at work within hours of violent mugging outside offices in Knightsbridge Bernie Ecclestone was back at his desk and back to the business of running Formula One within hours of a violent mugging outside his Knightsbridge offices on Wednesday evening. As the sport awoke on Friday to news of Ecclestone’s ordeal, there was general relief that the 80-year-old billionaire had not been badly hurt in the incident. With discussions ongoing over a new Concorde Agreement — the binding contract that determines the carve-up of the sport’s commercial revenues — not to mention new regulations for post-2012, these are crucial times for Formula One. Ecclestone was taken to hospital with minor head injuries after being repeatedly punched and kicked by four men who had been lying in wait for him and his 31-year-old Brazilian girlfriend, Fabiana Flosi. The pair were ordered to remove watches and jewellery worth an estimated £200,000. His daughter, Tamara Ecclestone, 26, said she was horrified that a gang could target someone of his age. “He’s back in his office and in good spirits,” she said. “It takes a lot to throw my dad off. But it is horrendous that we live in a society where this can happen.” The image of defenceless victim did not ring true with everyone. Some felt it was karma coming back to bite Ecclestone after he implied that Jenson Button was slow and “not too bright” after the McLaren driver was targeted by machine gun-wielding robbers in Sao Paulo last monthwww.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formulaone/8163965/Bernie-Ecclestone-back-at-work-within-hours-of-violent-mugging-outside-offices-in-Knightsbridge.html

theif, cut the hand off - lets go back to acient values, murder, eye for an eye.
The big emphasis these days is "breaking the offending cycle" easily achieved for something like murder - death penalty, the murder wont murder anyone else will they? Theif, robbery, Cut their hand off, 20 lashes with a rotand dipped in horse urine.
Singapore has a very low crime rate and for good reasons!

Looks nasty (certainly worse than I was expecting after reading the stories in yesterdays press) I GOT A WHACKING SAYS BERNIE ECCLESTONE
Saturday November 27,2010 By Bob McKenzie
BATTERED and bruised Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone spoke yesterday of the moment he was savagely punched and kicked into unconsciousness by a gang of thieves.
“I’m feeling it now, bit painful, it was a good whacking,” said Mr Ecclestone, speaking exclusively to the Daily Express at his offices in London’s fashionable Knightsbridge where the attack took place on Wednesday night after he had been to a restaurant in London with girlfriend Fabiana Flosi.
The 80-year-old billionaire, who owns the rights to Grand Prix racing, was punched in the face several times and as he lay on the ground he took kicks to his face as one of the four robbers ripped the earrings from Fabiana.
“I drove as I often do and we had just got out of the car when suddenly these guys laid into me,” said Mr Ecclestone, who is 5ft 4in and slightly built.
“They said nothing to me, just went on the attack so there was no chance to feel scared or react.
“When I was on the ground I could hear Fabiana screaming for help and I took a kick or two in the head and went unconscious.
“When I came to there was blood everywhere from my head wound but I was lucky. They weren’t worried about taking my eye out or head injuries when they were kicking.
“It was completely stupid and uncalled for. If they had confronted me and asked for everything we had, I would have handed over everything in my pockets, my wallet, anything.” He said that the robbers viciously took off Fabiana’s earrings.
“She could have taken them off in seconds but they ripped them off,” he said.
“They took our watches and a few other bits and pieces but I never carry much money or expensive jewellery.
“I can understand people robbing a bank or a shop where they know what the value of what they got but with me they didn’t get much.
“Most of Fabiana’s stuff was just personal from Brazil and not worth much.”
Despite his injuries which have forced him to cancel a shooting trip with the King of Spain this weekend, his humour remains intact.
He joked about his watch from Hublot, an F1 sponsor.
“If I had worn my Tag Heuer they probably wouldn’t have bothered,” he said. “I see a figure of £200,000 mentioned but that is b******s. They won’t be going far on what they took off us.”
Mr Eccleston suffered a similar doorstep robbery in Knightsbridge in 1995. But he rarely uses bodyguards.
“I’ve got a bit of money but I don’t feel like a target,” he said.
“I prefer to trust the police, who have been great, but they are bit busy these days in London looking after students who need more money.”
Mr Ecclestone divorced his wife Slavica last year and has since moved Miss Flosi into his Chelsea home.
Slavica, 53, is thought to have received around £1billion in the divorce following 25 years of marriage.www.express.co.uk/posts/view/214041/I-got-a-whacking-says-Bernie-Ecclestone
