For Premiership Clubs Goal.com Premier League Will Finish Earlier Next Season Ahead Of World CupEngland manager Fabio Capello will have an extra week with his squad to prepare for the tournament, provided England can qualify... According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail, The 2009/10 Premier League campaign will begin on 15 August and end on 9 May.While FIFA rules state that domestic competitions must finish at least four weeks before the beginning of a World Cup competition, the Premier League will have stopped five weeks before the 2010 tournament. Should Fabio Capello lead England to qualification for the competition in South Africa next year, the Italian will therefore have an extra week with his squad for preparation. Apparently, in order to do this the Premier League has decided to stage matches on the Saturday and Monday of the August Bank Holiday, which has never happened before. Ricky Brooks, Goal.com
