Fulham To Swoop For Norwich City's Sammy Clingan – Report
The Northern Ireland international midfielder is being lined-up by Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson...
Premier League club Fulham are preparing to make an offer for midfielder Sammy Clingan, who currently plies his trade with Championship side Norwich City.
According to a report in British tabloid newspaper The Sun, the Cottagers will bid £3 million for Northern Ireland international, who has won 16 caps to date.
While the Canaries sit only two points ahead of the relegation zone in the Championship, the 25-year-old has been impressive for the Norfolk club this term
Quotes attributed to the defensive midfielder, who has also played in the rearguard, suggest that the west London outfit enquired about his availability in the January transfer window.
"I respect the decision [Norwich made] to turn Fulham down," Clingan is quoted as saying.
"It’s my dream to play in the Premier League, but if Norwich aren’t happy to sell then they are entitled to say no."
Before spurning offers from Queens Park Rangers and Ipswich Town to arrive at Carrow Road on a free transfer last summer, Clingan played for Nottingham Forest between 2006 and 2008.
