Yes Dylan and I have met up a few times to watch QPR :-*

Dylan over the years has been one of the more positive/optimistic posters around and never gotten into the messageboard wars that some of us (used to!) get involved in.

Just thought I'd post a little fun fact from Norway.
Tried to make a quick translation below.

Here's the original link:

http://www.h-avis.no/sport/nermer-seg-500-ligakamper-1.5920899

Approaching 500 league games at home:

Tore Berntzen has behind him 96 football trips to England. He has seen 458 league matches on the football Island. Soon there will be more. 54-year-old has certainly packed Berntzen "soccer bag" again. This afternoon, he checks in on Helganes airport and some hours later he landed with both feet in football country. During the next week he will see four league matches: Norwich, Queens Park (Saturday), Chelsea-Aston Villa (Sunday), Queens Park-Bristol City (Monday) and Fulham-West Brom (Tuesday).

I'm normal

Back home inn his rowhouse on Vormedal he can in the next week add in four new games in the book. 459-460-461-462. Berntzen have full control of his fotball mania. Yet we must ask whether it goes from ear to ear up in his head - under the clothing of QPR hat? - Heh, heh. No, I'm perfectly normal. Possible it must be a psychologist to explain why I am doing this. But it feels very nice, calm Berntzen. It's obviously about passion. He that so many of us are affected by. The passion for English football. Certainly for a special club. For Berntzen is Queens Park Rangers, as applicable. "QPR" among friends. - And then there's something about collecting mania. I am a collector. When I had been at 50 football grounds in England, it became a goal for me to visit all the pitches in the English league, "says Berntzen.

First Norwegian

He reached the target in 1994. With Haugesunds Newspaper following him, Tore Berntzen the first Norwegian who had been on all 92 pitches inthe english leauge.
After the Premier League was founded in 1992, 29 clubs built new stadiums. New teams have also climbed up the league. But Tore Berntzen've been there - on almost everyone. - I'm missing the new stadiums of Colchester and Shrewsbury. And the new clubs Stevenage and Morecambe, said Berntzen. Already in January, he can book the Stevenage and Shrewsbury. He has scheduled four trips before the season is over. Berntzen like to travel alone, but preferably with friends.

Record Season

Flexible working means that he is now in a record season. Berntzen has already been on seven trips and seen 18 games since August. Soon he rounds 500 league matches. But before that he celebrates at Loftus Road. He has seen your favorite team in action at home in London 95 times. And four have planned for this season. - If everything goes as I hope and believe, I am 100 rounds of home games with QPR when the Premier League starting in August next season, smiles Berntzen. He smells promotion. By far the top QPR in the Championship, life is particularly good under the blue and white hat. - We must do it this season, "says the loyal supporter.

Started with 8-1-loss

It has been more downs than ups since he started to support in 1969. - I noted an unusual result. 8-1. Manchester United won. Queens Park Rangers lost. I had sympathy with the team that lost so much. And then they had the a great name. And very nice suits. So it was QPR, says Berntzen. In 1974 he was first allowed to travel alone to England. He was 17 and took the "Leda" from Bergen to Newcastle.

In the hurricane buoys. First and last time by boat, grinning Berntzen. It was simply too much for him when he made his debut at The Dell in Southampton 19 January 1974. - I fainted in the middle of the match. But got me the most. The match ended 2-2 after two upcoming England coach, Terry Venables and Gary Francis, missed penalty for QPR, "he says.

Berntzen did not catch the whole game when he saw Millwall Fulham the day after .
- I came ten minutes late and thought the match ended 0-0 until I saw on TV later that evening that Millwall had scored an early goal and won 1-0. Incidentally the first league match in England which was played on Sunday.

30-40 000 per year

Since it has gone smoothly for Berntzen, except when he's on the wings. - Ryanair has made it very easy for us fans of English football. With good planning we travell cheap. Costs no more today than in the 70's. I tend to say that I "smoke up" one twenty pack a day. 30-40 000 per year, summarizes Berntzen.

Yes, he is a bachelor ...

New Zealander born and breed. Started following QPR and Liverpool in '78 when I "discovered" football. Soon dropped that red lot though.
The name and the stripes were what first attracted me to the club. Then found that we had a bit of a reputation for playing entertaining football and had some real characters though the years (Bowles, Marsh, Wegerle....Taarabt!)
Have been to the UK a couple of times for lengthy periods and got to Loftus Road quite a number of times.
Here's a laugh. I arrived in the UK for the first time and headed straight to Loftus Road for the FA Cup match vs Liverpool expecting to get in. Not a chance!!! Either all ticket or sold out or both I can't quite remember. I had no idea what I was doing. The match was an absolute cracker with Ray Wilkins scoring a beauty! Made sure I was a bit more organised after that.
On a working holiday on a farm at Tonbridge at one stage. One of my workmates was an Arsenal supporter and we used to do alternate games at LR and Highbury. God Arsenal were boring in those days!! Fond memories of Ferdinand (what a striker he was!) and Wilkins from that time.
One of my other favourite times was with Venables as manager. Stainrod was my hero! I went to watch them at the Basin Reserve in Wellington when they came out here on a pre-season tour. Still have the Guinness shirt - if only it still fitted!
Occasionally bump into QPR supporters out here. Have met Lonegunmen a couple of times at Wellington Phoenix matches. In fact I owe him a beer for sending me a couple of Report stickers!
Generally keep up to date with QPR news on the various websites - there are some excellent ones (including this one!). Tried QPR World for a season but couldn't get good enough quality to make it worthwhile (I'm no computer whizz). Subscriber to "A Kick Up The Rs" which is brilliant too. Basically I enjoy anything that is fan based as it gives me a real feeling for the club. Watch limited match highlights on "The Football League Show" and love Neil Warnock's soundbites - hilarious!
What do I miss about the UK? The beer (I didn't used to drink until I traveled over there, Theakstons Old Peculier was a particular favourite), the old pubs and of course the football. You can't beat the atmosphere at a live match. The closest we have here is the Wellington Phoenix (complete with ex-R Nicky Ward) but it's just not the same. We play in the summer for god's sake!
Keep up the good work.

Nicki Ward AND Reece Crowther currently at the Nix. And of course Richard Johnson was with the Nix until injury forced him to retire.

Welcome aboard Zizou, great to "meet" another Kiwi fan.

I've just come back from a trip to UK and Europe. Took my two boys to the Swansea game on Boxing Day - what a match to see! We were in S block in Ellerslie Rd stand. When Taarabt nutmegged that defender and then scored the guy next to me and I looked at each other and he said "how did he do that?" which took words out of my mouth. Geat times to be a hoops fan after so many years of heartache. If the boys can hold their nerve for the next few months we will go up. I believe that Warnock is the right man to keep the players focussed for the run home.

Didn't mention Reece as I don't think he played for the firsts. Had forgotten that Johnson was an ex-R too. Did you know that another former R, Brett Angell, is out here too? Working for Central Football in (I think) coach development. Really nice guy.
