There's a french saying, Aimer c'est du desordre... ailors aimons!
Love is a disorder... so let's love!
What I wanted to say is that most of my Lithuanian friends, colleagues and acquaintances think I'm crazy, but envy my love (for QPR.) Explaining it would be as hard as understanding it.

And representing teh hosts of 2010 WC is me. Yes my name is Philip / Phil and yes I live in sunny Greater Jo'burg in SA.
Although I was born in London (Harerow / Wealdstone) I have spent most of my life down here - and most of the family (here & in the UK) support the Gunners or Watford. So how did I end up supporting QPR?
It goes back to Sep/Oct 1976 when the local TV service began to show match of the day on TV and my Dad (Watford fan) and his mate (Arsenal), on hearing the news, started to talk about how they missed the footie on TV. It then got onto talking about the various teams in and around London and going to the various stadiums. QPR came up as an afterthought with the clincher - hwo could we forget them, after all they have won the League Cup.
I was intrigued by this Queens Park Rangers and the following day looked up their result in the Sunday newspaper, satrted lookinbg up their reults every Sunday and before I knew it I was a huge & fanatical QPR supporter.
Do I sometimes wish I had heard another club that Saturday evening? Indeed I do but hey that's my fate - a QPR fan until I die.
As you can imagine there are not many Rs fans down here but I have bumped into the odd fan from time to time. My wife & daughter think I'm nuts - and many of my colleagues as well - but they all seem to accept my support.
Down here it is all aboout Chiefs, Pirates & Sundowns (locally) and Liverpool, Manchester Bloody United, Arsenal & Chelsea - with Utd getting the lions share of the local support. It is one of the reasons why I dislike Utd like I do - their overseas based fans, possibly the most ignornat and obnoxious fans around.
I have to say the internet makes life much much easier for fans like us. Yes they show a lot of Premeirship games (you can expect to see anything like 8 live games - if not more - every weekened), plus Italian, German, Portuguese & Spanish football and we do get SSN & the FL show, but coverage of QPR is very limited.
They either have to do something incredibly stupid or incredibly great to get a mention (although they have received some coverage this season), and this was also the case during our heydays of top flight football.
Trust me the internet is a godsend to QPR fans living overseas - far better than listening to a cracklibng BBC World Service or rely on outdated results on the local newspapers as we used to do just over a decade ago.
They showed the BC game doen here and while hardly a classic it is always great to see them on TV. At least we didn't lose this time.

My best QPR team - well considering that I satrted supporting Rangers when the great mid 70'steam was beginning to break up, I always look back at Terry Venables / Ron Harris team in the early 80's with a lot of fond memories.
Hucker, Mickelwhite, Ian Gillard, Macca, Steve Wicks, Roeder, Fenwick, Ian Stewart, Flannagan, Tony Currie, Clive Allen, John Gregory, Stainrod, Burridge, Sealy and a few others. Hell what a team - no wonder this lot went from the relegation zone of Div 2 to a top 5 finish in Div 1 in less than 4 years - with an FA Cup final & a Div 2 title in between.
To me that is still the benchmark for all future QPR teams.

Great thread guys
Whilst I am currently living back in England, I did spend a few years working and living abroad so I have alot a respect for you guys trying to keep up to date with all QPR related info. Having watched QPR matches in Innsbruck in dodgy bookies down backstreet alleys, or constantly refreshing the 'vidiprinter' on the internet in Vancouver, it has been hard but well worth it - except for having to refresh the vidiprinter constantly for 120 mins of the play off final to finally lose.
I have enjoyed reading all the stories - well done folks!

Chopper Harris stopping everyone, Ossie up front and Bonetti always looked stylish. That was before they found all the money. Nearly forgot Mary Houseman screaming down the wing. They put the two stars on their badge in those days.

Born in Chelsea 67 Dad took me to matches through from early 70's and into 80's. Had several years of living in South Africa straight after the 82 cup final. Then when I got back, couldn't get enough of watching the R's. So I remember favs Clive Allen, Paul Goddard & Gerry Francis - someone posted a recent 'Shoot' photo of him wearing the England admiral strip and me reading the thread here triggered some memories : ) I remember standing outside Norwich in 75-76 era as we couldn't get a ticket to get in. I remember all the stories about Don Shanks & Stan Bowles betting and drinking habits as my grandad took Stans watch off him several times for non payment of Dogtrack debts lol The best period of Football for me was in the early 90's with so many technically brilliant players in the side and the worse period for the best part of last 15 years until this year Last time I was back - 2007. I always try to listen or watch but my interest seriously was in doubt after the past couple of seasons and I put my QPR interest (frustration/hurt) into coaching a local Select U13's and Olympic Development Programme and have now pledged more involvement with the local association. Right now i'm at a happy medium again and more so seeing the R's with a good manager and commanding the top spot That's it and it's been great reading other members stories.

I was an international fan for the last two weeks.. if that counts?
I went out to Spain to visit my dad who lives near Valencia, and took out three QPR shirts for myself, my wife and my dad to wear in the hops that I could find a local bar that would be showing the Bristol City game.
Now, you have to bear i mind that my dad lives in a very rural part of Spain and the search to find a bar took two days, however we found one that said they would show it for us.
We spent all the sfaternoon talking to the locals and persuaded a lot of them to come i n on the Friday night to watch the unbeaten league leaders.
Lo and behold when we walked in on the evening the place was packed with spaniads all looking forward to great evenings entertainment.
By half-time many of them were gone saying that we were no match for the usual televised Valencia games, however those that stayed til the end had a great night with us, and we all awoke to sore heads!
I just goes to show that it is not always about who you support, but sometimes it is about wanting to enjoy a good time with the locals, all based around football!
The bar now has a QPR shirt on display on one of the walls, so if ever you are in Oliva, south of Valencia, look out for Magnums Bar!

Czech Republic based QPR fan here
I grew up in Marlow and started going to QPR in the 1980/81 season when I was 6 with my dad and brother. Had season tickets in the upper loft through the 80s (promotion, european football, two cup finals - they were the days, eh?) up until 1992 when I went to university in Nottingham and just did a handful of home and away games each season. Came back to London in 1997 and starting going again home and away regularly, and got season tickets in S Block with a few mates in 2001.
I moved to Prague in 2005 and kept the season ticket for a year, but gave it up after I only came back for a couple of games which worked out at about £500 a game after travel etc! I'm now a member so I can get tickets when needed.
I had a season ticket at Bohemians 1905 here in Prague for a while - a few local football fans here had heard of QPR because of Jan Stejskal, and seemed to know a bit about us because of that. Radek Cerny signing a couple of years ago also helped raise the profile.
These days I try and do a couple of games a season - I came back for the recent games at Man Utd away in the league cup, and Chelsea away in the FA Cup, but this season my first game will be the Preston game in a couple of weeks, and then Coventry away at Christmas.
Look out for the 'Queens Prague Rangers' St George's flag!

Born in Shepherds Bush; dragged up in Harlesden & Stonebridge. Been living in Canada (by beautiful Georgian Bay) for almost 5 years (cos my wife is Canadian). Neighbours are starting to get used to my addiction with football but keep insisting on calling it soccer grrrr. That said, they still raise the odd eyebrow whenever they see me run out in the garden early in the morning in the middle of a snow storm with my shirt over my head in celebration of a goal while listening/watching a live feed of the game. I miss Bourbons & Custard Creams; finally found a local store that stocks McV's Penguins, Double Deckers & Toffee Crisps. Inheritated the right to support the Rs via parents; was never given any other choice; was taken to League Cup Final in 67 at about 5 months old.

Guess I'll toss my story in here then since I on a roll Thorstein from Norway (QPR and Lillestrøm fan) When I started to play basketball in 91 I met my now closest friends. They where all big fans of english football and had their own teams they followed. So, having no choice I had to find my own game to support. I didn't to follow all these main stream big clubs. At the time Sir Les was playing at QPR and offcours those cool jersyes I had no doubts. QPR was to be my club I'll admit that I didn't really start to follow them closely until I went to the US to study in 98 and even more so when I came back to Norway in 2002. I joined the norwegian supporter club 2004 and are active on the forum there. This past weekend I was at Loftus Road and saw the Reading game. This was my first game at Loftus Road. Reason for not making it before now has been economy and trying to make a trip envolving my friends, which has been difficult. Economy is now good and I finally said to heck trying to get this trip with my friends so I joined the norwegians yearly trip. Think we where about 50 of us from Norway and from what I heard about the same from Sweeden. A trip is these days not so expencive if you make your booking a bit in advance. You should be able to get a round trip for about 30 to 50 pounds. But for people like me, booking late and for the wrong weekend it cost be about 600 pounds for last weekends trip , but well worht it. Hotell was for me 180 pounds for 2 nights, but again late booking so you should easaly get it for half of that or even less. The reason for so many norwegians supporting english clubs is because Saturday games have been shown on the telly from early 70's. The norwegian supporter club is looking to set a new membership record this year closing fast towards 400 paying supporters. Thanks to everyone at the qprboard and qprreport for good threads and inside info on rumors and everything else revolving around QPR. Thorstein
