THREE ardent Yeovil Town fans have clubbed together to help finance the return of a fans' favourite to Huish Park.
Bristol City's Gavin Williams made the first appearance of a three-month loan spell with the Glovers on Saturday and helped guide Terry Skiverton's men to a 3-1 win over Tranmere Rovers in npower League One.
The Welshman, who played a key role in Yeovil's promotion to the Football League in 2003 before returning on loan at the end of last season, starred as the home team registered their second win of the season.
The loan deal came about largely thanks to the financial support of businessmen and long-term fans Ben Tupman, Simon Prout and Robert Tizzard.
Mr Tupman, managing director of Wiltshire company Westbury Packaging, Avon Valley Motor Sales owner Mr Prout and Mr Tizzard, of commercial property owners TZZ Estates, are all assisting the Glovers with funding the loan.
Mr Tupman said: " I had a conversation with Terry Skiverton and discussed the possibility of Gavin coming back. Terry said he was an npower Championship player on a Championship contract and it would be very difficult for a club of our size to bring him in, which was understandable.
"We are absolutely delighted to have him here. It makes our Saturdays more fun. It is to support not just the club but Terry as well. We felt that if we could help our club manager have a better player to work with it would go a long way and we would all reap the benefits."
Mr Tizzard said: "At end of last season, when Gavin came back on loan, he was the most creative player we had in the team. There are a lot of fit, hard-working footballers in League One but this lad has class. We would not have stumped up for anybody, it was purely Gavin."
Mr Prout said: "I was delighted when Terry took over as manager from Russell Slade. Last season I said we could have signed any player, but nobody would have had more of an impact at Yeovil than Gavin."
Former club captain Skiverton thanked the trio for their role in Williams' temporary signing. He said: "I would like to say 'Thank you' to them because supporters have come out to help the club in getting Gavin Williams and it was a really important process to get him in."
