Sky Sports Palace to reveal new boss Former boss Hart in frame for Selhurst Park postBy Mike Barton Last updated: 16th June 2010 ..Crystal Palace are set to unveil their new manager at Selhurst Park on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles survived the threat of going into liquidation at the final hour earlier this month, with the first action of new consortium CPFC 2010 to decide the club's new manager. Paul Hart, who saved the club from relegation to League One on the final day of the season after a 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday, is thought to be a strong contender for the position after admitting he was interested in taking the role on a permanent basis after his short-term contract came to an end. Whoever takes the role up will have to deal with keeping some of the club's best players and working on a tight budget following the Eagles' damaging problems last season that resulted in them going into administration and suffering a 10-point deduction. The punishment led to Palace falling from play-off contention into a relegation dogfight, as well as the loss of manager Neil Warnock, who moved across London to Queens Park Rangers. Other contenders rumoured to be in the frame are former players Gareth Southgate, Chris Coleman and Dougie Freedman, who was assistant to Hart at the end of last season. www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6209899,00.html

George Burley?Telegraph
Former Scotland manager George Burley poised to take over at Crystal Palace Crystal Palace are set to name their new manager on Thursday, with former Scotland boss George Burley the leading contender to take the role. By Telegraph staff Published: 6:38PM BST 16 Jun 2010 The CPFC 2010 consortium which saved the club from liquidation earlier this month have chosen a new manager after holding interviews over the past fortnight. Paul Hart, who guided Palace to a dramatic final-day escape from relegation last season after joining on a short-term deal, was one candidate to hold talks with the consortium, while Chris Coleman, Dougie Freedman and Doncaster's Sean O'Driscoll were also considered. Burley, however, is believed to be the frontrunner, having impressed in his interview with the new owners last Thursday. The former Ipswich and Derby manager has been out of work since leaving his post with the Scottish FA last November and has also been shortlisted for the vacant manager's job at Plymouth Argyle.
It has been reported that Freedman, who assisted Hart at the end of last season, could stay on at Selhurst Park in the same capacity to Burley. Meanwhile, rap star P Diddy has confirmed he did investigate the possibility of mounting a takeover bid of Palace when the club were teetering on the brink of financial oblivion last season, but decided that the time was not right to buy into English football. “There was somebody that had looked at it but the business of it just wasn't the right business move for me at the time," he told the BBC. “I'm always looking into different business ventures and it's definitely one of my dreams one day to be a part of a sports franchise, especially a football team.” www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/championship/crystalpalace/7833640/Former-Scotland-manager-George-Burley-poised-to-take-over-at-Crystal-Palace.html

I think Burley is a decent manager. They could do a lot worse.
Has Magyar been on lately?

I think Burley is a decent manager. They could do a lot worse. Has Magyar been on lately? Hello! Have been away on hols following all the fun via weak wifi connections lol. Loving all the latest stuff coming out of Selhurst. Exciting times now for us. The new owners are fans but above all they are businessmen and proper businessmen at that, unlike the previous. I think Burley comes across quite well (below link) and also am loving the additional press article further below www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,26691,16485_6211604,00.html ----- Ambrose was on the verge of following former Eagles boss Warnock to QPR earlier this month in a £750,000 deal when the CPFC 2010 consortium stepped in to save the cash-strapped south Londoners from going bust. Warnock: "There's been no change. Darren obviously was very disappointed to more or less have the rug pulled from under his feet. "He'd already shook hands on everything. "I think Darren was very, very disappointed but it's their prerogative. I know the guys that are coming into 2010, they're good people and they want to do their best for the club. "The offer's on the table and then we'll have to wait and see what will happen and obviously Darren's hoping he'll be able to move permanently. But I think we've just got to play it by ear over the next few weeks really." But Burley, who managed Ambrose as a youngster at Ipswich, is determined to persuade the player to stay and sign an extension to his current deal which has a year left to run. "I brought Darren through as a kid and gave him debut at 17 at Ipswich," said Burley. "I think maybe he was too young when he left Ipswich for Newcastle. "He scored 20 goals last season and he is a player I want to keep. He's a top player and we will be trying to get him to extend his contract."
