Dave Jones, Ian Holloway and Sam Allardyce join Portsmouth's Avram Grant on shortlist for West Ham United manager's job - report17 May 2010 Dave Jones, Ian Holloway and Sam Allardyce have joined Avram Grant on West Ham's shortlist of managers to replace the departed Gianfranco Zola. Portsmouth manager Grant is favourite to land the Hammers job but Sky Sports reports that owners David Sullivan and David Gold are also interested in Cardiff boss Jones, Blackpool's Holloway and Allardyce of Blackburn Rovers. Jones and Holloway have both enjoyed successful seasons in the Championship, leading their clubs to the play-off final where they will meet each other on Saturday. Allardyce led Blackburn to a top 10 Premier League finish and could make the move south to London. Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou has given Grant permission to talk to the Hammers about a deal. "We'll sit down this week and have a discussion about his future," Andronikou was quoted as saying in The Daily Mail. "I want to make it clear we will support which decision he comes to. He's given unconditional support for us over the last four months when maybe other managers would have walked. "If he wants to leave we won't stand in his way. We'll give him our full support. "We're not going to hold anyone to ransom. If he wants to move on we'll be behind that. I think all the fans would be behind that decision, too." I'm surprised Mark Hughes isn't on that list. Good luck Olly.

I hope Ollie stays at Blackpool actually, he's started a job and needs to see it finalised. Sadly he was allowed to do that here. His 5 year tenure was more successful than the 5 years since.

HOLLOWAY REJECTS WEST HAM LINK By Ross Heppenstall, Press Association Sport Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has brushed off speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at West Ham. Holloway, hoping to steer Blackpool into the top flight for the first time since 1971 in the Coca-Cola Championship play-off final against Cardiff on Saturday, has won many admirers for his work at Bloomfield Road this season. Holloway, Sam Allardyce, Avram Grant and Dave Jones are reported to be on the Hammers' shortlist to replace Gianfranco Zola after he left Upton Park last week. Yet Holloway, 47, said: "It's an honour to be linked with something like that but it's not genuine is it?"If it was genuine then my chairman (Karl Oyston) would be talking to me about it. I think a lot of journalists are quite lazy. They look at things and think 'oh, we can throw that name in'. "At the end of the day it's the people at the top of the clubs who make these decisions. "You read the stories but these newspapers will be wrapping someone's chips tomorrow. Never believe what you read in the papers. I don't. "I'm doing a job as well as I possibly can and I'm more than happy to keep doing it." Holloway was appointed at Blackpool last summer and has transformed a side tipped by many for relegation into serious promotion candidates. It is estimated that the victors at Wembley on Saturday stand to earn as much as £90million from promotion to the Barclays Premier League. Holloway - speaking at a press day at Bloomfield Road - added: "All that matters to me is getting my lads ready for Wembley on Saturday." www.sportinglife.com/football/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/10/05/18/SOCCER_Blackpool_Nightlead.html
