May you one day overtake MK Dons! AFC Wimbledon aim to go full-time next season BBC AFC Wimbledon manager Terry Brown says the club has plans to go full-time for next season. The Dons have challenged for the play-offs during their first season in the Blue Square Premier. Brown told BBC Surrey: "We've got a major problem with the amount of money we can fund the team with. "We will keep several players and the nucleus of a very good squad. We will look to go full-time but we'll have to rebuild with youngsters." He added: "We won't be able to rebuild with the finished article. We'll have to get youngsters out of professional sides and out of the Ryman League. "By going full-time we will be able to build our players up a bit." The Dons currently groundshare with Ryman Premier Division side Kingstonian at Kingsmeadow and Brown is adamant that if the club does go full-time, they do so within their means. "The club has got to put together a co-ordinated plan that sees us able to move on on the current financial basis we are on," he added. "It's great to be a fans-only club, but it's only the fans putting the money in. It's OK saying we've got gates of 3,000 but we've still got this ground to pay for and the upkeep. It costs an absolute fortune to be buying this ground and keeping it running. "We can't compete with the teams at the top. If we do manage finish seventh or eighth it'll be a real challenge to beat that next year." newsvote.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/w/afc_wimbledon/8620033.stm
