On the way to the game my brother-in-law told me to watch out for Chris Waddle. When the teams came out to warm up he pointed him out to me and I just laughed! I remember thinking he looks funny with that silly haircut and hardly looked a threat! At half-time after Waddle had his hat-trick and had completely destroyed our midfield and defence I contemplated that we might lose by 0-8 as we just did not know how to contain him. His first half display was quite phenomenal and we had no answer to it. But that second half, that will live with me forever. I can remember every kick and at 3-4 the possibility that we could salvage a draw was amazing. Then they scored their fifth and the crowd went silent............for about 10 seconds as the belief that we could score 2 more was massive. When Wicks got the fourth Loftus Road went nuts and you knew that we were going to get the equaliser, the players shared the crowds belief and the atmosphere visibly charged them. Of course when Micklewhite got the fifth the ground exploded, fans who had sat next to each other for years but not really spoke were hugging each other, the guy in front of me turned round and lifted me up over his head and my brother-in-law ended up about 20 feet away from me in the excitement! Will never forget that day, as the supporters really were an extra man on the pitch and it showed. For me that was one of the best days I've ever had at Loftus Road.

Nice post Mark, I will never forget that day either. I was standing in my usual spot at the time in line with the penalty area towards the right side of the loft and remember seeing quite a few leaving at half time, so much so that quite a big gap opened up and yet out of all the people I've ever spoken and all the posts I have read on various boards, nobody has ever admitted to leaving early.

I will never ever understand why some people leave early. Would you go to the cinema and leave 5-10mins before the end! I know there is the 'I don't want to get stuck in traffic' excuse, but seriously, traffic annoys you that much that you would leave early and risk missing a goal? Sitting in the traffic gives you time to listen to all the results on the radio and talk about the performance before you get home and have to go back into normal life where the conversation starter 'Do you think we should employ a central sweeper behind the defence to cover the full backs?' is generally frowned upon. Or do what I do, take the tube! As for those that left at half-time on that day: Cowards! You missed a comeback better than Port Vale! I trust you have all learnt your lesson and will choose to suffer like the rest of us that stay till the bitter end, in the future!

Nooooooooo don't say it's so. Did you leave early? You can't leave it hanging like that. C'mon, don't be stingy, details!
