Great...Thanks Blockhead

A giant thanks to Bushman for what he's already done; what he's doing and what it will be.

By putting these photos (and background information) on the web, Bushman is doing a massive Mitzvah (Good Deed) for the Worldwide QPR Community

Thanks again

Thanks Mike for your original photo thread and look what it unlocked? Thanks Bushman for seeing it and adding your own historical archive which to many of us is a learning curve about things at the club from yesteryear.

I am quite sincere when I say I am grateful to you both for sharing an important part of QPR's history and I look forward to each and every instalment. This is what being a QPR fan is all about.

Such a brilliant talent, who you must suspect that his tragic War experiences shortened his life. God knows what illnesses one can harbour while being starved.

The type of goalkeer that other teams feared. A QPR legend. Thank you bushman.

He wore more Brylcreem than I did but he would finish a match with no hair out of place.

Truly should be equated with our best goalkeepers

Vic Gibbons was writing a book about this excellent goalkeeper. Also this..

The Beat Around The Bush set for delivery Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

There is a special feature on Reg Allen by Vic Gibbons - one of the regulars on qpr.co.uk's messageboard(edit - The Old Official MB ver 1 - Andy). The feature was prompted by a piece in Hoops, the QPR matchday magazine. Rangers' Press & PR Manager and editor of The Beat Around The Bush, Mike Hartwell, explains:

"Vic saw the Top Fives feature in Hoops on Rangers goalkeepers and posted an interesting follow-up about Reg Allen on the messageboard. It was such a compelling story that we asked Vic if he wouldn't mind writing a feature on Reg Allen for this issue of the paper. It's a great story in itself, but also a nice one for us because the programme prompted a debate on the qpr.co.uk messageboard, which in turn has led to a special feature in the club paper."

Reg Allen!

I remember Ingham very well, and I know Ron Gould and Vic Gibbons who remember Reg Allen and indeed the 1948 promotion side.

Ron tells a story about some rather sharp practice by Busby to prise Reg Allen - the goalkeeper he coveted - away from Rangers, but I can't recall the details. I must ask Ron.

Ask at least £100 a week. If it's good enough for Haynes ...

Also this link below from IndyR's.....

Please note the Martin March comment towards the bottom.

Sorry to type in your Reg Allen thread but I felt it was appropriate for the item.

Question, out of all those celebs which ones were/are genuine QPR fans? I know Morcombe was a Luton man. Moore a hammer thru and thru.... Tommy Steele? Denis Waterman?

Reg,s son has written a piece on Indys about his Dad. Disabilities did shorten his life I suspect and also

the effect of starvation on his health physical and mental. Tragic, and sad, and still wars continue un-

abated plus the human carnage.

In your Mike Keen photos, I note in the one of him scoring a headed goal, in the background a certain Dave Clement in attendence, two products of our youth set up!

If you want some good photos, go here and scroll down to QPR and then Rodney Marsh! Some of Bushmans pics and others of course would make great wall pics or Tee shirts.

Great photo's & memories (from 68 onwards).

No photo of Leslie Thomas in the celebrity thread or is this in revenge for him stopping putting Queens Park Rangers as a passion at the front of his books?

Thank you & look forward to seeing some more!

Great information on QPR team of 1911/12, we're doing some research on Dan McKie who we believe joined Merthyr Town later before being killed in the Great War

Very nice job Bushman!

I would have a question, i dont know if you remember that. My father lived in London in the 80's for a year and used to visit Loftus Road for a few games. It was season 1982-1983. Would you know what players played for us, and where did we finish? Was it this season when we were Top London club? Thank you

1982-83 was the season we won promotion as Division 2 Champions.
The nucleus of the squad were:
Peter Hucker, Warren Neil, Ian Dawes, Gary Waddock, Bob Hazell, Terry Fenwick, Gary Micklewhite, Tony Sealy, Simon Stainrod, John Gregory, Clive Allen, Mike Flanagan.

Saw so many of those players, and Billy birrel and Eggleton and Swinfen. Goddard had recently left but

Cheetham a decent replacment. I also have that badge in my collection.

I am one of the oldies being a supported since I was 14 and am now a G.G.Father of 76. Watched with awe every mpve that Reg Allen made. He is my favourite player of all time. Don't think that it was Busby who signed him from us though. If if wasn't for Frank Swift or Bert Williams, Reg would have been England's keeper. Not much difference between him & Williams.
I am writing a book (my second - first was THE JEWEL RETURNED published in 2008) called "Sacred Hoops" about a supporter's exp[eriences from boyhood to Great Grand Fatherhood. One on my sons, two Grandsons and one step Great Grandchild have been mascots and last Boxing Day there were four generations of my direct family at the game. I may be looking for help on certain dates and players, incl photos if an are available from anyone. can be contacted at william.lethorn@btinternet.com
