Nottingham Forest Official SiteQPR Preview Mon 25 Jan 2010 Victory over Queens Park Rangers at The City Ground tomorrow night (kick-off 7.45pm) will see Nottingham Forest go level on points with leaders Newcastle. That's the incentive for Billy Davies and his players as they put their 18-match unbeaten Championship run on the line. The Reds enjoyed a well-deserved weekend off and are now looking forward to the challenge of two games in five days, with the QPR encounter followed by Saturday's trip to Derby. QPR, who are without a win in four games, recently parted company with yet another manager as former Forest boss Paul Hart left after just five games in charge. Mick Harford, who had spell in caretaker charge of The Reds during the 2004-05 season, following Joe Kinnear's departure, has been placed in charge at Loftus Road. Team news Forest will be without loan defender Nicky Shorey, who must serve a one-match ban following his red card against his former club Reading earlier this month. His absence could see Chris Cohen swop his midfield duties to move to left back, or Chris Gunter could swop flanks with James Perch stepping in at right back. Incidentally, Shorey's loan from Aston Villa is due to end before Saturday's trip to Derby. The Reds have no injury concerns but will again be without Julian Bennett, who is continuing his rehabilitation from a knee problem. QPR are poised to give a debut to defender Matt Hill, who has joined them on loan from Wolves until the end of the season. And former Reds midfielder Nigel Quashie may also make his first appearance since returning to Loftus Road. Quashie, who started his career with QPR, re-signed for the West London club last week after being released by West Ham. Their key man Moroccan international Adel Taarabt has become part of the fixtures and fittings at Loftus Road, even though he's only on loan. The Tottenham midfielder had a three-month loan spell with Rangers last season and made a stunning contribution. So much so, that the West London club were delighted when they secured the 20 year old's services for the entire 2009-10 campaign. Taarabt has contributed five goals to Rangers' cause this season and is their creative heartbeat. What the record books say There have been 55 league and cup meetings between Forest and QPR down the years - and it's The Reds who have dominated. They have recorded 24 wins, compared to the Londoners' 14 victories, with 17 games finishing deadlocked. It was a draw when the two sides went head-to-head at Loftus Road in August. The game finished 1-1 after Forest had come from behind to snatch a point they thoroughly deserved. Rangers, who were then under the management of Jim Magilton, drew first blood when Mikele Leigertwood curled a shot from 25 yards into the top right-hand corner of Lee Camp's net. Wes Morgan headed over the bar from a Chris Cohen free-kick as Forest went in search of an equaliser. But they levelled matters 12 minutes into the second, courtesy of David McGoldrick's first goal for the club. He provided a cool finish after a Camp free-kick had been flicked on by Dele Adebola. Forest came close to snatching maximum points as Radoslaw Majewski fired a cross-cum-shot across the face of goal, while Kaspars Gorkss bundled away a goal-bound effort from Dexter Blackstock with his 'keeper Radek Cerny stranded. QPR: Cerny, Ramage, Stewart, Hall (Gorkss 45), Leigertwood, Routledge, Helguson, Pellicori (Vine 61), Faurlin, Borrowdale, Taarabt (Buzsaky 67). Subs not used: Heaton, Mahon, Agyemang, Connolly. Forest: Camp, Gunter, Chambers, Morgan, Lynch (McCleary 45), Garner, McKenna, Majewski, Cohen, Adebola (Blackstock 72), McGoldrick (Tyson 75). Subs not used: Smith, Anderson, Earnshaw, Davies. Where they currently stand: Forest - 2nd QPR - 11th Where they finished last season: Forest - 19th QPR - 11th www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10308~1943683,00.html

James Perch, who recently deputised for Shorey against Birmingham in the FA Cup, is set to fill in for him again. QPR are likely to include former Forest midfielder Nigel Quashie after he completed his move back to Loftus Road. Matt Hill is also in the squad after joining on loan from Wolves, while Lee Cook could be on the bench after a long spell out with a knee problem. MATCH PREVIEW Queens Park Rangers have never won at Nottingham Forest and the form book suggests their long wait for a victory at the City Ground will continue. Rangers are in mid-table with only one win in 11 matches, with Mick Harford back in caretaker charge following yet another managerial departure from Loftus Road. Both Rangers and Forest are proof that money alone cannot buy success. Whereas QPR's spending has failed to produce a team capable of challenging for promotion, Forest's summer spree has produced a side that has gone from strength to strength under Billy Davies. And two of Davies' smart acquisitions were allowed to leave by Rangers' Flavio Briatore-led regime. Striker Dexter Blackstock has made an impact this season, while keeper Lee Camp's outstanding performances have helped Forest climb to second in the table. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • QPR have drawn 10 and lost 13 of their previous 23 league matches at the City Ground. 606: DEBATE Have your say on this match • The last two matches between these clubs have ended in a draw. Nottingham Forest • Forest have won their last three games, are unbeaten in 18 and have won five consecutive home matches. • They are the only team in the Championship not to have scored with a penalty this season. • Forest have used 21 players in the league this season - fewer than any other team in the division. Queens Park Rangers • QPR have picked up two points out of a possible 15 away from home since a 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday on 7 November. • Rangers have managed only two wins against top-half sides this season. Only one of those (at Cardiff) was away. • The London side have gone 14 games without keeping a clean sheet - longer than any other team in the division. QPR Official Site MATCHDAY PREVIEW: FOREST Posted on: Tue 26 Jan 2010 In terms of an away fixture in the Coca Cola Championship, this is probably as hard as it gets as Rangers prepare for their trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest this evening. Under the stewardship of Billy Davies, the Reds sit just one place off top spot at the summit of the second tier. And, having gone without defeat in their last 18 league outings, automatic promotion - certainly if they can maintain their current form - looks a distinct possibility, as the Reds continue to hunt down leaders Newcastle United. Article continues Advertisement MPU Honours were even the last time these two sides met in the Championship at Loftus Road, with Mikele Leigertwood's stunning long-range effort cancelled out by a second half David McGoldrick strike for Forest. Team News Lee Cook and Rowan Vine both travel to the City Ground after playing 60 minutes for the Reserves against Luton Town last Tuesday. New signings Nigel Quashie and Matt Hill are in contention for starting berths after completing their moves to Rangers until the end of the season, the latter on loan, while Carl Ikeme should keep his place in the R's goal after a positive display against Blackpool last time out. Meanwhile, Gareth Ainsworth is out with a calf problem, while Gavin Mahon and Martin Rowlands remain sidelined with knee injuries. Nottingham Forest will have to make do without the services of left-back Nicky Shorey, who is suspended for the Reds, with James Perch waiting in the wings for a place in the starting line-up. Julian Bennett also misses out through injury, though Forest are at full strength apart from that for the visit of Mick Harford's QPR side. Star Man Paul MCKENNA - Midfield Skipper Paul McKenna has been arguably one of Forest's most outstanding performers this season, justifying just why the Reds paid Preston £750,000 for his services last summer. McKenna, who signed a three-year Forest contract and was handed the captaincy, starred under boss Billy Davies at Deepdale and has put on a number of match-winning performances at the heart of the Forest midfield this campaign. The midfielder joined North End as a 14 year old, making more than 460 appearances for the Club during his lengthy stay. McKenna cited a new challenge as his reason for leaving Preston, and that decision looks to have been rewarded in an already impressive season in Forest colours. A constantly high performer in the Championship, the Reds Captain has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring a solitary goal. Classic Encounter Nottingham Forest 2, QPR 2 Coca Cola Championship - Saturday 7th February 2009 Rangers stretched their unbeaten run to nine matches with a hard-fought 2-2 draw with a resurgent Nottingham Forest. Matteo Alberti proved the hero, despite giving away the first half penalty that Lewis McGugan converted, equalising with the last kick of the first 45 minutes. Seconds into the second period and he doubled his and Rangers' tally for the day with a fine run and a cool finish to give the travelling R's fans something to shout about. However, the win was not to be, as Chris Cohen rose unchallenged midway through the second period to guide home the leveller. Even with five added minutes, neither side could force a winner, despite Mikele Leigertwood's well struck drive from 20 yards bringing the best out of home custodian Paul Smith. The 29-year-old, who left the City Ground during the summer to return for a second spell with the R’s, is still recovering from a groin problem. He has not featured since the 2-0 defeat at Charlton on the opening day of the season. Mackie hoped to return to action this weekend but is now hoping to be in the squad for next Wednesday’s game at home to Blackburn. Meanwhile, Yun Suk-Young could be back in the Rangers squad for the Forest game having recovered from a knee injury.

From westlondonsport www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-angella-to-replace-hall-but-yun-will-miss-out-for-qpr-against-nottingham-forestAngella to replace Hall but Yun will miss out for QPRBy David McIntyre 11/09/2015 Gabriele Angella will make his QPR debut in Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest but Yun Suk-Young is not yet ready to return to the squad. Yun has featured in recent reserve-team and Under-21 matches, having missed all of pre-season with a knee injury. He hoped to secure at least a place on the bench against Forest but will not be considered for selection as he is not yet fit enough. Head coach Chris Ramsey has been full of praise for summer signing Grant Hall but the centre-back will make way for Angella, who was recently brought in from Watford. Sandro, back at the club after resolving an issue with his visa, is another player not currently being considered for selection. The Brazilian midfielder is building up his fitness and in any case Ramsey wants to show loyalty to the likes of Karl Henry and has told Sandro he cannot expect to go straight into the first team. Jamie Mackie, meanwhile, is still recovering from a groin problem and will miss the game against his former club.
